Clean Crisp Sounding CD Player with a Great DAC
Posted by: Aquin from: Arizona on
It's difficult to find a clean, crisp, detailed sounding, good looking, well built audiophile quality CD player these days at an affordable price. The Onkyo C-7030 fits the bill with an excellent DAC, the Wolfson WM8178 (192kHz/24 bit). These are getting rare, but for those of us who are old fashioned and like to listen to actual CD's, you will appreciate the sound quality this unit brings out.

The sound is superior to the Sony it replaced. The shuffle is truly random unlike other units I have used.

This cd player is very well built. I purchased this unit to replace a sony
player. This unit sounds much better.
It has a lot of great features including a volume control for your headphones. A lot of bang for your buck.

Excellent CD player
Posted by: DocXX from: Newark, DE on
Bought this to replace an older Adcom CD player. Very happy with purchase. Player has a fine DAC that produces pleasant highs, detailed midrange and very nice, tight bass without a sub. Unit operates smoothly and quietly. I am hearing some details on recordings that were obscured before. Model does need a little burn-in. I played for about 40 hours via the repeat function. Great price for a quality player.

Sounds great, hates scratches
Posted by: BFDallas from: Dallas on
I purchased this unit in lieu of a Marantz unit that was backordered. The sound Quality of this unit is superb, especially for the price.
My only issue with this is that I have a few cds that have minor scratches. no other cd player I've played them in has even let me know they were there. This unit, However, doesn't like 1 single, tiny scratch on a CD. It's not that it skips, it gets completely hung up on that spot of the CD.
Because of this, I am thinking about returning it and trying something else.

Great CD Player

Get the single CD player because it has better electronics inside than the multiple CD player.

Reviews are True

I wouldn't call myself an audiophile, but I know great sound when I hear it. After not having a CD player for my home setup for several years, I decided to get a new one. I read the reviews on many different CD units and learned about the importance of the digital-analog-converter (DAC). Trusting the reviews and on this site and a couple others about the DAC on this Onkyo, I thought I'd try it for what I consider a pretty cheap price. There really is a difference, and I'm curious as to how much better the higher priced units would sound. For now, I'm happy. I'm breaking out all the CDs, dusting them off and really enjoying a different sound. I run the unit through a vintage Pioneer SX-650 and a pair of Klipsch KG-4s. I highly recommend this Onkyo.

Good sound quality and ease of operation.

This CD player produces high quality sound with my Onkyo receiver. It produces plenty of power for the room it's in. It is also easy to set up and use, and the remote control has all the needed functions to operate this player.
