Best Buy Customer Reviews

This was recomended to me by the clerk at the Apple Store when I bought my IPAD. They don't sell them there but he said he recomends them for all IPADs. I have one on my iphone I love, so I took his advice.
As others have said it is bulky and you can't use it with a dock, so if you plan on docking it, I would recomend avoiding this product. I travel a lot and it's great added protection in my backpack. I also like that the lid can be used as a stand, very convenient when watching videos on it when in a flight.
The instructions are awful. A bunch of diagrams I couldn't figure out on my own and had to look online until I finally saw a sight that walked me through it. Once I found the video it was easy to install. I like that unlike the Iphone otterbox, the screen protector is in the case so you don't have a shield to install and deal with.
The price is a little high, but compared to the price of replacing an ipad if you drop it....

Field tough to Soldier standards
Posted by: JasonDC from: U.S. Army on
I use this product to take my IPAD to military training and rough environments. It gets stuffed into a backpack and I don't have the luxury of being gentle. Over the past three weeks, it has performed above expectations. I highly recommend this product if protection is your primary concern.

Saved my iPad's life
Posted by: ArkansasGeek from: Bentonville, AR on
Forgot my 'new iPad' on back of car when my baby girl almost jumped out of her car seat. Drove off and it fell off the car in middle of road where someone ran it over before stopping to pick it up. Thankfully he was able to open it up and got my 'Find my iPad' message and returned it.
So I can say from experience this case can save your iPad from being car with only minor scratches and pant transfer. Not sure a protection product could get a better review.

Otterbox case for iPad 3
Posted by: vroomHawk from: San Antonio, TX on
The case is slightly redesigned for iPad 3 and it is very easy to put on. The coverage is the same as for the iPad 1 & 2 as it provides absolutely perfect coverage for all parts of the iPad. The stand is nice and lets you place the iPad in portrait or landscape mode. If you need 100% protection on your new device 24 x 7, this is definitely the case to buy. I use Otterbox brand for all of my electronics and have been 100% satisfied with everything they've put out. You definitely pay for what you get.

Sturdy case with terrible screen for new iPad
Posted by: smashburn from: North Little Rock, Arkansas on
This case is very sturdy and provides great protection. The case adds weight to the iPad as expected. The main problem is the built-in screen protector. The screen distorts the retina display and causes a grainy appearance, which is most noticeable on white backgrounds (such as email). The protector's affect on the display is the issue that prevents me from recommending this case.
I finally got the stand/screen cover to auto shut-off/on the display by turning it upside down with the Otterbox name at the top. Apparently, the magnets are not properly polarized for the new iPad. I find the stand to be very handy.

Nice but Couple Issues
Posted by: wardog12b from: Morgantown, WV on
I have had Otterbox Defenders for the original IPad, the iPad 2, and now the new iPad.....so this is the third version I have owned. I will say that this version is definitely a step up from the last version. I am glad to see that they integrated the screen protector into the case as they do with iPhone cases. However, in the same token they have cut corners by leaving out small things like the nice little microfiber cloth that came with the first version. The two major issues I see with this version are as follows: they talk about the magnets that are in the face cover and that it is suppose to put your iPad to sleep when it is put on the front...it does not, which is sort of a disappointment since I thought that I would have a function similar to the smart cover. Secondly, this is $10 more at Best Buy then it is directly from Otterbox...kinda ridiculous.

Trusted protection for the iPad
Posted by: dkshop from: on
Two times my grandson's iPad dropped and chipped. Not anymore! I have the Otterbox for my phone and decided it was time to invest in the same for the iPad. Not crazy about the hefty price, but I guess you get what you pay for.

perfect for little ones!
Posted by: JCMichael from: Culver City, CA on
My toddler son has discovered my iPad, and so I was looking for a sturdy protective cover from spills, drops, sneezes, everything. This case is incredible! While confusing on how to get the iPad in it, once it is inserted, it is fantastic! The front cover is still sensitive to finger touches, and the entire case is robust- love it! WELL worth the decent price!

The Best As Always
Posted by: fabd01 from: Nashville, TN on
If you truly require total protection, Otterbox has been and still is the best you can get. I had the first Gen iPad with the Otterbox case and literally traveled the world with it. It was great. The new case is improved in that it is smaller, has a better built in stand and a screen cover like the iPhone cases. The only downside is, the screen protector does (just like the iPhone cases) deteriorate the stunning beauty of the retina display. Seriously, it greatly affects crispness of the display. But if you want total protection, this is the case to own.
On the issue of the magnets in the lid... Mine don't work. They do nothing. According to my iPad settings, it is set to wake up and sleep with the magnets but it does nothing. I will check into this further but I'm not too concerned either way!
If you want the best protection, buy this case!

This item is very durable and childproof. My youngest son threw my ipad on the floor several times without breaking it. I would highly reccomend
