Enjoy brilliant sound with this 300W speaker that features a 1" silk dome tweeter and two 7" polymer composite cone woofers. The bass reflex design with PowerPort Plus technology delivers deep, thunderous bass for an intense listening experience.

Glorious all around sound

I've owned Polk monitor 50's for about 2 1/2 years and finally decided to upgrade to these and I was infinitely impressed! The silk dome tweeters have proven to be ultra sensitive and have prevailed in every way over my old speakers, I hear little tones and nuances in music and movies I've never heard before. Polk has really done a great job with their power port + technology because despite these speakers having 3 bass drivers they are ported and sealed off from the midrange and tweeter so there is literally no distortion in higher quality audio tracks no matter how hard I push them! I use a pioneer sc-05 to power the A9's and it is more than adequate.
After listening back and forth between the Def Tech 7002's and Viennas Mozarts I decided to give these a try and although the A9's don't pack as big of a punch as the Def Techs with the absence of a powered sub they still bring more low end to the table than 90% of the speakers I've listened to, not to mention the silk dome tweeter rounding out the package to bring the best of both worlds! I wish I would have bought them sooner, the cherry finish is absolutely beautiful when the light hits it. Mmmmmm.

Among the best you can get for under $2000

I've owned these for about a year now and they are easily the best speakers I have ever owned. When shopping for new speakers last year I was considering The B&W 683 and 684, Martin Logan Motion 40, Energy CF70 and RC70, JBL L890 and also a model from Ascend. I felt like the A9's offered the best blend of accuracy, dynamics, and finish, while also having the SLIGHTY forward soundstage I like as I listen to a lot Rock, Hip-Hop, R&B and soundtrack music (Two Steps From Hell, Hans Zimmer, etc). I also watch a ton of action movies and play video games so they lend themselves well to that as well.
Overall, I am very happy with the sound from these things. If you have the room they offer outstanding sound quality and good value. I'm driving them with a Marantz AVR, but they can handle up to 500w each so if you have separate amps you can really drive them and get even better sound. Highly recommended!

Love these speakers

I love these speakers so much that I moved them into a small apartment that was way to small for these on the 3rd floor. The upper and mid levels are superb and pairing the 3 7s with a subwoofer creates a depth that is felt from everywhere in the room. Although they are pricey for the typical best buy consumer and are very heavy, I consider them one of my prize possessions

They sound awesome

After going to Fry's twice and them not having anything we wanted, I went online to see what BB had to offer. When I saw this Polk floor speaker, even though it was a bit more than what we had budgeted, I pulled the trigger! When they arrived I hooked them up and placed dark side of the moon in the CD player and we set back and listened and could not wipe the smile off our faces!

These speakers are a wonderfull upgrade to the system that I had. Great sound along with nice looks. Price was very reasonable. I spent a lot of time reviewing specifications for many systems and this speaker has the best price / performance that I could find.

Yes, these speakers are Monsters!, so make sure you have the space. If you do you won't be disappointed. Ignore any reviews saying these cabinets are anything less than gorgeous. The style, finish and construction are high end furniture. More importantly the sound is spectacular! I first had these hooked up to my Yamaha RVX1700 130w channel without bi-amping. The sound was clean but the lows were clearly missing. After bi-amping problem solved. I added a Klipsch 10' subwoofer for a boost on the low lows. It definitely rounds out the experience. Congrats Polk designers and engineers on this beautiful high end speaker.

Great speakers plenty of bass and midrange too. silk dome
tweaters give clear voices and amazing sound. Comparable to sonus faber 2.5 tower speakers for $2500 also with silk dome tweaters. Not tinny sounding like aluminum tweaters.I also bought the A4 center channel and two A3's bookshelfs for the rear all rti series.

These speakers sound great playing all types of music/ home theater and look beautiful as well. I was unable to listen to them before purchase (making me a little nervous), but am VERY happy I did buy them! Was also pleased with Best Buy "special delivery" process - my speakers arrived without hassle, in a timely manner.

Big speakers produce big sound!!

I have had these speakers for about two years now along with the matching csiA6 center channel. These speakers have a beautiful sound. The three 7" woofers provide a lot of base. and the two 5 1/4" drivers provide the right balance of mid's and high's. The finish of the wood is absolutely beautiful. I have seen both the black and cherry finishes in person and although both have a beautiful look the cherry is second to none.
Do not buy these speakers if you do not plan on powering them properly. I originally had a pioneer receiver powering them in which they were bi-amped. They sounded really good until my receiver died the 13th month that i had it. (I strongly recommend the geek squad protection plan when buying a receiver.) After my Innocent with pioneer I upgraded greatly to the Yamaha RX-A1020. I didn't think it was possible to get better sound quality out of these speakers but I was wrong. This receiver give the speakers a whole new life and even better sound quality. I would still recommend using an external amp to power these speakers (something with at least 200W per channel, and bi-amp if possible.)
Being a huge audiophile, and having heard my high end speakers i would recommend these to anyone who has the money to afford the system, and has the ability to power them properly.
When listening to music on these i strongly recommend using an uncompressed audio format. or at least music with no lower than a 320 Kbps. trust me you wont be disapointed.
