Best Steak Ever! Posted by: from: on I ordered this Precision Cooker after reading a lot about how Sous Vide works and Anova got it done right! The app is very intuitive and walks you through how long to cook and at what temperature to get your desired doneness. My first cook on it was a 10oz filet and it was the juiciest steak I have ever tasted! 45 minutes in the water took it to 133 Degrees then a minute on each side searing on the stove top and it was a perfect Medium to Medium Rare!

Easiest...Best Steak I Have Ever Made Posted by: from: on First time user of Sous Vide, but I have been interested in it a while. I got to use this for the first time and I am really impressed. The physical setup was extremely easy and took seconds. The App and Wifi setup were also very easy. It ended up taking about 3 minutes to find my Wifi and connect. Once connected I could operate the unit from my phone. Setting water temp was as easy as spinning a dial. Water got to temp quicker than I expected. We ended up trying New York Strip steaks in this first attempt. Getting them into bags and into the water was quick and easy. I wish they would include a few clips that would allow you to attach to the side/top of the pot you use (recommendation). 1 inch thick steaks took just over an hour, with NO attention need to be paid to them. When I wanted to eat we just pulled them from the bags. The color of the outside of the steak is not like they are when grilled, but the inside was AMAZING. We cooked them to medium and there was perfect color from top to bottom. We can not wait to try other stuff now....chops, chicken, etc.

Very Good--Software could make it better Posted by: from: on Really like the Sous Vide method of cooking. This device works great and the food comes out perfect. I'd like to see more ways to use the cooker in an automated or timer controlled way via the app. This would be very easy to do with a software update. Right now, the app will let you control the cooker remotely but won't allow you to set it up based on a specific time of the day. I'd give it 5 stars if they make the app more powerful.

Cook perfection with confidence Posted by: from: on With the exception of beef - Chicken and Pork are the types of meat you really have to cook thoroughly, or risk some form of food-borne illness. Cook these meat too long, and you have cardboard for dinner. With this product, you can seal the food with whatever marinade you wish, cook it to the correct temperature, and then sear it to perfection when done! You can manually control the cooker, or bind your Phone \ Tablet to the device, search out a pre-defined recipe on the web, and then hit Start Cooking - and away you go! I haven't cooked Pork chops in YEARS because they were always overcooked. With this cooker, it came out soft, flavorful, and I didn't have to worry about a trip to the hospital for food poisoning. Please note - even though you can cook the meet beyond the recommended time (for up to 4 hours), it is NOT recommended to go past that 4 hour mark.

Great (luxury) kitchen gadget Posted by: from: Indianapolis, IN on Can you cook good meals without a sous vide cooker? Yes. But once you've used one of them to make a perfect medium rare steak, will you want to? Probably not. The precise cooking temperature measured to a tenth of a degree makes sure you aren't overcooking something in the water baths. The wifi app has all the necessary temps and times built in, so once the water hits the proper temp, you drop the food in and walk away. Things you must have to make this worthwhile: 1) a vacuum-sealer for foods you will be cooking, and 2) a large stock pot or water tub. I did five 1.5" inch-thick steaks last night in a large stock pot, all cooked to a medium rare, and finished them in a cast-iron skillet for about a minute on each side. Everyone raved their steaks were perfectly done.

Perfection with ease. Posted by: from: on The Anova wifi precision cooker makes it near impossible to overcook. The app gives you good guidelines on how to prepare most things and even a few recipes to try. Beyond the app there are tons of videos and instruction available on the net. Get yourself an Anova, a big pot, maybe a cast iron skillet for a nice sear at the end and you got all you need for perfection with ease.

Easy to use Posted by: from: Minneapolis on This Anova sous vide machine is very easy to use, but the app could be a lot better. I purchased the Anova over the Chef Steps Joule sous vide because the Anova has manual controls while the Chef Steps can only be controlled using an app. While the Joule has a much better app with more recipes and more functions and the Joule machine itself is smaller, has a magnetic base and looks slicker. I still chose the Anova over the Joule because of the Anova's manual controls. Also, the Anova has been around for years and it has been time tested to last.

Great Sous Vide Posted by: from: on I purchased this sous vide after alot of debate. I wasn't sure if it was worth the purchase. After all, many sous vide items can be cooked in an ice chest with hot water. The turning point for me was the ability to use an icebath with frozen items and leave them for a few hours. This really helps my schedule. The app doesn't quite work the way I expected in regards to the icebath, but they are updating it all the time. For now, I consider it a good investment.
