Synopsis

587: The Great Train Robbery
Dan T. Hall's family-friendly film 587: The Great Train Robbery begins with a boy named Alex accidentally guiding his soapbox racecar through a fence. On the other side he discovers an abandoned locomotive engine. Although the plans are for the old train to be scrapped, Alex attempts to save it with assistance from an old train engineer and his pet pooch. Soon every kid in town is part of the plan. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi

Baker's Hawk
Baker's Hawk is an old-style Western starring old-style Clint Walker. Burl Ives plays a recluse plagued by vigilantes. Ives is protected by Walker and his son, Lee H. Montgomery, on the basis of the lad's friendship with the old man. Baker's Hawk is based on a novel by Jack Bickham. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

A Horse for Danny
The heartwarming direct-to-video family drama A Horse for Danny stars a very young Leelee Sobieski (Joan of Arc, My First Mister) as the precocious 11-year-old title character, and Robert Urich (Spenser: For Hire) as Eddie, her horse-trainer uncle. Danny may be young, but she is also a race-track veteran -- who knows how scam-artists fix the races, and how to determine when a scam is being pulled. When Uncle Eddie espouses his dreams of riding into glory on the back of a stallion, Danny finds the perfect mare for him -- Tom Thumb. Raising her cash by careful betting, and pooling her money with a friend, Gerald, Danny purchases the horse for Eddie and it turns him into a champion racer. But a number of quick-draw racetrack con artists, including Noel Ferguson, see dollar signs and threaten to steal Eddie's thunder -- first with a botched attempt to purchase the horse, then through more shady means. Directed by Dick Lowry (Smokey and the Bandit 3), the film also stars country singer Ed Bruce. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

Bailey's Billion$
The phrase "it's a dog's life" takes on a whole new meaning in this family-friendly comedy. When eccentric billionaire Constance Pennington passes on, she leaves her entire fortune to her closest companion, Bailey. However, there's something that sets Bailey apart from most of the nuevo riche -- Bailey is a golden retriever dog. Bailey's best human friend is Ted (Dean Cain), a handsome but nerdy animal behaviorist who has learned to communicate with Bailey in "dogish." Ted looks after the wealthy pooch with Bailey's blessings, but Bailey's new fame and wealth don't sit well with everyone -- Caspar Pennington (Tim Curry), Constance's nephew, is infuriated that a dog has inherited his aunt's fortune. With the help of his shrewish wife, Dolores (Jennifer Tilly), Caspar sets up the Animal Rights and Research Foundation (ARRF), and installs Ted on the boards alongside Marge (Laurie Holden), a cute single mother and animal rights activist. But Caspar and Dolores hardly have benevolent aims in mind -- ARRF is supposed to keep Ted and Marge busy while the Penningtons kidnap Bailey and find a way to prove to the world that Ted has been abusing the dog. Jon Lovitz provides the speaking voice of Bailey. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

The Wild Stallion
Nickelodeon network favorite Miranda Cosgrove stars in this horse-driven drama. When Hannah Mills takes on a school project photographing horses in the wild, she has no idea they are about to become her passion. Their graceful movements and flowing manes captivate her and soon the mustangs are her reason for living as she falls in with the ranch lifestyle. But what she's about to discover is going to put her and the ranchers in danger, because somebody else has their eyes on the horses. This is a story about the love between people and nature and the dangerous lines that are crossed when greed gets in the way. Wild Stallion also stars Danielle Churchran, Fred Ward, Connie Sellecca, and Robert Wagner. ~ Kimber Myers, Rovi
