Resident Evil: Afterlife Experience a new dimension in action horror as director Paul W.S. Anderson uses the 3D technology pioneered by James Cameron and Vincent Pace to take movie lovers on a nightmare thrill-ride. It's been five years since the zombie virus swept across the globe, and Alice (Milla Jovovich) is still traveling tirelessly in search of survivors. When the Umbrella Corporation ratchets up the stakes, an old friend turns up to lend Alice a helping hand. Rumor has it that some survivors have found sanctuary in Los Angeles, but when Alice and friends show up they find the city overrun with zombies, and quickly realize they've stumbled into a diabolical trap. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
Great Movie, But...

I have been a big fan of the Resident Evil franchise from the beginning, most of it having to do with my love for the games. I was a little disappointed with how this one played out compared to the others. For the most part, this movie does not do much more than create a long drawn out battle between two main characters, and will leave you dumbfounded on some of the events going on if you are not familiar with the more recent video games.
Blu-Ray VS Blu-Ray 3D:
While this edition includes both the 3D and 2D version, it's a little much asking for an extra $15 just to have the movie in 3D. Seeing as Blu Ray has come down so much, and when you buy a movie your paying more for the media content than the physical content, maybe an extra $5, but $15 is plain ridiculous. Give 3D a few more years and you will be able to pick up the bundles that include 3D and Regular for no extra price, they just want to put a premium on it because they can.
The whole Alice losing her powers was unnecessary, especially since she seems just as powerful
Wesker's part is horribly acted, he is way more cooler and badass in the video games.
Whats with killing off the whole army of Alice's towards the start of the movie, you were left with a huge finale from Extinction just to have them offed like flies. It is poor planning to conclude the previous movie the way they did just to discard it in the beginning of the sequel.
(*END OF SPOILERS*)
Don't get me wrong, this movie was very entertaining and I will definitely be buying it, I just feel like it could have been so much more.
3D is amazing to, I just feel that eventually the standard version will be dropped, and this version will drop to a more affordable price.

Great for 3D content
Posted by: Eggfushen from: North Carolina on
Reading others' reviews, you can get a good sense of the video quality, audio quality, plot, etc. As far as I'm concerned, the movie in 2D was just 'ok'. I liked the first movie the most, loved the games, etc., but the only reason I bought this movie was for the 3D content.
Speaking strictly from a 3D perspective, this movie was great. The two main reasons to buy a 3D movie are usually either because the movie has #1# great depth or #2# the pop-out effect. Suprisingly, this movie has both.
In regards to depth, the movie uses the 3D depth effect quite well, throughout the whole movie. The depth effect is done very well, in my opinion. The movie is also full of 3D pop-outs as well. Many movies will toss in a couple of these here and there; however, this movie has one about every 5 minutes. Anything that could possibly fly at the screen does just that: bullets, guns, knives, blood, pieces of zombie, etc....
Overall, this is one of the 3D movies that I will watch multiple times, but only because of the 3D effects.

After reading some early reviews below, I was hearing that this movie did not have any 3D effects and that you could watch it with out shutter glasses yada yada yada..... Don't believe these reviews. This movie is a great 3D movie that has a lot of 3D effects and action. Just as I remember it from the theaters.

3D was great at home

I almost didn't buy this because of the reviewers reporting poor 3D on their home setups. Glad I decided to try it. The 3D was outstanding. I watched on an LG with a PS3.

Like the last reviewer stated " Don't buy" Almost returned my tv because of this. Was waiting for this since I heard it would come out on the 28th. Been a fan of the Resident Evil series and this was a total blind buy because I heard the 3D was awesome in the theatre .I also was looking for a live action film instead of cartoons. This movie is the worst presentation of 3D. No depth at all. I had to literally stand a foot away to actually see some depth . Was so mad didn't even enjoy the movie. I kept fas forwarding it to see some worthy 3D. I even checked my 3D settings, connections etc . The movie actually gave me a headache because I kept straining to see something that was not there. Don't buy. How are people going to get into 3D when something like this passes QA not to mention the price increase for the movie..

Like she said she will be bringing a few friends .

I went to the movies to see this in 3D i loved how it opened up a few minuets in with Alice coming in with her hair long and she had dual kitana 's on her back and her ninja stars to take on the umbrella swat team it was amazing her stars coming out at the screen at you the music gets you and pulls you in right with the action a blend of Metal and Techno and rock thrown to get you going as she tears in to them .
He used the new James Cameron camera the fusion to film this .
The only thing when Extinction ended Japan already had the virus now in the begining of this it 's normal does 'nt make sense seems like he back tracked to give you and opening you will see what i mean once you watch it i don 't want to spoil anything for you and Jill Valentine makes a return in this she is not in the movie it made me upset but watch the credits that 's your clue . Can 't wait to see it on Blu - Ray .

Poorest 3D Bluray Disc so far viewed
Posted by: Spooner from: Columbus, Ohio on
I have not been this disappointed with a purchase in my life. After watching The Guardians of..in 3D and watching this movie, I almost threw it in the oven. I was so excited to buy this movie in 3D spending over $30 for it. Infact, do not spend ur money for the 3D, just buy a regular DVD disc and you will just be fine or rent it at some dollar rental. I could watch this movie without the glasses and it was clear as bottled water - no 3D effects. I have a 73 Inch DLP TV, 3D ready, setup with a computer using a 3D software play with Diamond Radeon 6XXX series video card - the entire shebang. I have confortably watched other 3D movies with great satisfaction. I will be returning this to the store - bought it from Bestbuy - they can keep my money if they want!
