Kinda like Dr. Who's phone booth
Posted by: Naturenut1 from: Carmichael, CA on
This is the first French door refrigerator that fits in the fridge area in my kitchen without requiring a remodel, or at least the removal of the over-the-fridge cabinet. Therefore, we've had an 18 cubic foot traditional fridge until now. This one is very nicely organized, shelves and bins move easily, so it accommodates items of all shapes and sizes. All the shelves and bins are clear so things are not getting lost. The freezer organization is wonderful! The ice maker doesn't take up much space. The crispers are doing their job, and I love the huge pantry drawer. The lighting in the fridge and freezer is bright and flat, and I am enjoying not having to shuffle things around to get the tall stuff that got scooted behind the light. It cools and freezes like a fridge should. We haven't yet been able to find our water line turn on valve, so I haven't tested the ice maker yet. While I am comparing this fridge to an old, no frills model, I believe that anybody with a small fridge hole in their kitchen would LOVE this fridge. It's the same exterior size as my old 18' model, but this one's got 20% more interior space and is so well organized that it seems even bigger - the interior space is all usable. We have a galley kitchen, so the french door model is nice because people can walk through the kitchen even when someone else has the fridge open. I've got dogs that like to sleep in front of the fridge, and since the freezer's on the bottom I'm not having to make them move every time I want something out of the fridge. It seems like a quality item. Time will tell. Hope it lasts because I love it.

Problems with Refrigerator Not Keeping Food Cold
Posted by: Dane123 from: San Diego on
I have purchased multiple Samsung Refrigerators, this is the first one that I have had problems with. I bought this refrigerator and it would not cool below 50 degrees. I lost food and Best Buy replaced it with a new one. This one keeps food sometimes below 40 degrees and sometimes as high as 42 degrees. I am taking measurements using a kitchen thermometer in a full gallon of water which I leave in the refrigerator. This refrigerator I understand blows cold air into the freezer and from there into the main area of the refrigerator. Most of the Samsung French Door Refrigerators are "Twin Cooling" with the cold air going directly into each area. Based on my experience I would only purchase a larger refrigerator with this "Twin Cooling" feature. I have had multiple repair people from Best Buy and Samsung and they have not been able to improve the refrigerator performance. I had requested a different refrigerator within the time period to request a change and was told that it was up to the manager and that they would not replace the refrigerator. I have never bought a new refrigerator and had it not be able to keep food cold. My 15 year old refrigerator actually froze some food sometimes, which is something that I would not be able to do with this refrigerator and I am lucky if food is below 40 degrees.

Great french door, lots of space
Posted by: Paulsbutiq from: Philadelphia, PA on
Bought this as a replacement for a side-by-side fridge that came with our house. This was not our first choice, or even third choice for that matter, as we had a number of issues with availability for the units we really liked. We've had it for about a month and so far we are very pleased with this unit. Ample space in the French door fridge up top, shelves are adjustable and fit everything we need to fit, storage on the door is ample and can even hold the big jug containers.
Bottom freezer has two deep bins and a slide-out drawer containing the ice tray. Icemaker works well. Very happy with freezer space as we don't seem to be as cluttered as we were before in the side-by-side unit.
This unit does not have a water dispenser, so we bought a Brita which fits well on the top shelf of the fridge.
Noise level is unnoticeable, look of the black fridge is sleek, magnets will stick to front of the fridge. Lighting is ample.

The Product Listing is WRONG
Posted by: laughingbirdpro from: on
The product listing describes Samsung's French Door refrigerator model RF220NCTASR as 21.6 Cu Ft. with the dimensions of Height 65.38" x Width 29.75" x Depth 36.38", but those dimensions are for model RF221NCTASR not model RF220NCTASR as listed above. Model RF220NCTASR is actually 22 Cu Ft with the dimensions of Height: 66-3/4" x Width: 29-3/4" x Depth: 36-1/4" which doesn't fit our space. We had to turn back delivery and now we are without a refrigerator. Still waiting to hear back from Best Buy 2nd tier customer service. They promised to call back in the hour. They did not.

just what my kitchen and I needed
Posted by: MaryAnne from: Cleveland, OH on
I was researching all my option finding a fridge that would fit in my designated space, no wider than 32", no higher than 67", and I was eager to get a French door and bottom freezer fridge. Almost impossible? Yes, when you check all the other retailers, unless you are willing to pay a fortune. Like always I ended up at BestBuy, talked to my favorite sales man, he looked immediately knew this model would have the measurements. At that time he recommended to wait until Labor Day week, when appliances usually go on sale, and it went on sales and I got it for $1,259, free delivery, free haul away of my 26 years old top freezer. This fridge is amazing, no noise at all, shelving is nice and convenient, like the LED light, love the door alarm. Love the ice maker, although I did not install it, since I had major water damage after an ice maker leak before, and I am going with the old fashioned trays. I am not using that much ice anyways. If you always had a top freezer, it takes a little time to get used to a bottom freezer, but there is more than enough space for a single person. and in the fridge I love the pantry drawer. It has an option to turn the energy saving feature off, according to the manual turning it on might cause water buildup inside, well, compared to my old fridge, this is saving energy even with the feature turned off, I am certain. And since it is declared as an energy saving appliance I even get a $ 25 rebate from First Energy, which will be applied to one of my next electric bills.

Excellent for Smaller Space
Posted by: Polka904 from: on
We replaced all three major appliances over Labor Day weekend. We had a bit of a problem selecting a refrigerator because our slot for the fridge is somewhat small, and couldn't be easily modified. We were a little nervous about having enough space, but it has worked out quite well. I love the pull-out freezer drawer, it's much easier to store things. The fridge works quite efficiently and the LED lighting is beautiful. We miss having an ice-crusher but we consciously chose not to have one because it's one more thing to malfunction. We did have an issue with our icemaker; it made ice for a week and then stopped altogether. We made a service call to Samsung and a week later it was replaced. It works perfectly now. We're very pleased.

Overall this is a good choice for older kitchens that cannot accommodate a larger refrigerator,

Love the french doors, gives more room.
Posted by: vacation from: Waynesville,nc on
Like freezer on bottom. Low energy costs. Easy to change shelves.
Difficult to find fridge with french doors that is a smaller size. Older
condos are not designed to allow room for larger refrigerators, so
glad Samsung still makes them.
Very satisfied with product.

What a beautiful refrigerator
Posted by: Loyalbestbuyshopper from: Morton Grove, IL on
I have only had my refrigerator for two weeks but think its beautiful and has plenty of space. Its very quiet. The shelves are adjustable which is a great feature. The vegetable drawers are great... my produce are staying fresh a lot longer then in my old fridge.
My only complaint is that the specifications on this unit were not correct. You must add an additional 2 inches to the depth of this unit to allow ventilation and for the plug. I have a very small kitchen so the additional two inches do make a difference.

Perfect for our small space!!!
Posted by: beckih from: vancouver on
LOVE this frig! We were looking for a 30" for our galley kitchen and this was the perfect fit. Tons of room in the doors, just the right amount of easy to clean glass shelves, drawers, nooks and cranny's.
Nice big freezer too.
