Problems with Refrigerator Not Keeping Food Cold Posted by: from: San Diego on I have purchased multiple Samsung Refrigerators, this is the first one that I have had problems with. I bought this refrigerator and it would not cool below 50 degrees. I lost food and Best Buy replaced it with a new one. This one keeps food sometimes below 40 degrees and sometimes as high as 42 degrees. I am taking measurements using a kitchen thermometer in a full gallon of water which I leave in the refrigerator. This refrigerator I understand blows cold air into the freezer and from there into the main area of the refrigerator. Most of the Samsung French Door Refrigerators are "Twin Cooling" with the cold air going directly into each area. Based on my experience I would only purchase a larger refrigerator with this "Twin Cooling" feature. I have had multiple repair people from Best Buy and Samsung and they have not been able to improve the refrigerator performance. I had requested a different refrigerator within the time period to request a change and was told that it was up to the manager and that they would not replace the refrigerator. I have never bought a new refrigerator and had it not be able to keep food cold. My 15 year old refrigerator actually froze some food sometimes, which is something that I would not be able to do with this refrigerator and I am lucky if food is below 40 degrees.

The Product Listing is WRONG Posted by: from: on The product listing describes Samsung's French Door refrigerator model RF220NCTASR as 21.6 Cu Ft. with the dimensions of Height 65.38" x Width 29.75" x Depth 36.38", but those dimensions are for model RF221NCTASR not model RF220NCTASR as listed above. Model RF220NCTASR is actually 22 Cu Ft with the dimensions of Height: 66-3/4" x Width: 29-3/4" x Depth: 36-1/4" which doesn't fit our space. We had to turn back delivery and now we are without a refrigerator. Still waiting to hear back from Best Buy 2nd tier customer service. They promised to call back in the hour. They did not.

Nice refrigerator for small space Posted by: from: Saugerties, NY on We purchased this refrigerator for its French doors, bottom freezer and total size from the website. We've only had it for 4 days but it's great so far! Lighting is wonderful. Accessibility good for frig. except pantry which is awkward. Two crispers above are actually sitting on the pantry so they jiggle whenever you open or close the pantry. I would have thought twice about that if I'd seen it firsthand. However, I called Samsung and they assured me that it wouldn't break. I also found out from them that the recommendation for temperature setting is 3 bars for both the freezer (-2degrees)and the refrigerator(38 degrees). Not mentioned in the manual so I note it here for you all. Frig. is easily organized though I would have liked maybe one shallow door shelf for smaller items. Wonderful to have most of the food at normal height. Freezer holds a lot especially since we didn't opt for ice maker. However, I'll need to get a few plastic baskets to organize better. It's quite deep.

Kinda like Dr. Who's phone booth Posted by: from: Carmichael, CA on This is the first French door refrigerator that fits in the fridge area in my kitchen without requiring a remodel, or at least the removal of the over-the-fridge cabinet. Therefore, we've had an 18 cubic foot traditional fridge until now. This one is very nicely organized, shelves and bins move easily, so it accommodates items of all shapes and sizes. All the shelves and bins are clear so things are not getting lost. The freezer organization is wonderful! The ice maker doesn't take up much space. The crispers are doing their job, and I love the huge pantry drawer. The lighting in the fridge and freezer is bright and flat, and I am enjoying not having to shuffle things around to get the tall stuff that got scooted behind the light. It cools and freezes like a fridge should. We haven't yet been able to find our water line turn on valve, so I haven't tested the ice maker yet. While I am comparing this fridge to an old, no frills model, I believe that anybody with a small fridge hole in their kitchen would LOVE this fridge. It's the same exterior size as my old 18' model, but this one's got 20% more interior space and is so well organized that it seems even bigger - the interior space is all usable. We have a galley kitchen, so the french door model is nice because people can walk through the kitchen even when someone else has the fridge open. I've got dogs that like to sleep in front of the fridge, and since the freezer's on the bottom I'm not having to make them move every time I want something out of the fridge. It seems like a quality item. Time will tell. Hope it lasts because I love it.

Excellent for Smaller Space Posted by: from: on We replaced all three major appliances over Labor Day weekend. We had a bit of a problem selecting a refrigerator because our slot for the fridge is somewhat small, and couldn't be easily modified. We were a little nervous about having enough space, but it has worked out quite well. I love the pull-out freezer drawer, it's much easier to store things. The fridge works quite efficiently and the LED lighting is beautiful. We miss having an ice-crusher but we consciously chose not to have one because it's one more thing to malfunction. We did have an issue with our icemaker; it made ice for a week and then stopped altogether. We made a service call to Samsung and a week later it was replaced. It works perfectly now. We're very pleased.

Great for our needs Posted by: from: on This refrigerator is definitely a great choice for those looking for a counter depth unit. We have a small amount of space in our kitchen, so making sure we found one that suited our required dimensions was a must! It is a little pricier compared to units with more storage capacity, but it's well worth it for us, because if we had a regular fridge, we would definitely be cramping up space in our kitchen!

Wonderful upgrade Posted by: from: on I really like the freezer compartment being below the refrigerator in a pull-out drawer that keeps more of the cold air in when opened. The refrigerator compartment is very spacious and shelves are movable to accommodate the needs of all sizes of containers. I really like the over-size door shelves that will hold half gallon and 2-liter containers.

Highly Recommend! Posted by: from: on This fridge is perfect for our needs. I'm just scratching the surface of using all the features but for a basic user, it's great! Love the door design and we can store a lot more in this unit than our previous one even though that one (Kenmore) was larger.

Displays the Energy Star symbol, but is only certi Posted by: from: on Displays the Energy Star symbol, but is only certified by Department of Energy. It is not on the Energy Star list for Energy rebates. Refrig is OK. Fits the space where we needed it to go and looks nice. My electric company, West Penn Power, is giving a $50 rebate for Energy Star certified refrigerators. After I submitted the form to obtain the rebate, they called and told me it is not Energy Star Certified. I contacted Samsung support who told me it is only certified by DOE, Department of Energy. It is not on the list. Unless I am misunderstanding something, the information Samsung is providing is misleading to the consumer. Samsung displays the Energy Star symbol under "Key Specs" on their website. This Google search "is rf220nctasr/aa energy star certified?" provides this result: › ... › French DoorSamsung Electronics Rating: 5 - ‎27 reviews - ‎$1,799.00 ENERGY STAR® Certified. Compliance with ENERGY STAR®, a government program, ensures eco-friendly, energy ... Power. Energy Consumption, 630 This information was integral to our decision to purchase.

Great Fridge for Limited Height Posted by: from: on My house was built in 1973 and thus there were limitations as to height. Choices are few and far between for models no taller than 68" and still find something "stylish and new". My choices were this and and an LG side by side. Both had great reviews. So far this has been a good choice. It is deep, however, that gives you plenty of room inside. Have only owned this model about a month. So far working fine and looks very nice. If you want to upgrade to something other than a top freezer style model, I would recommend this fridge.
