Great for for the price
Posted by: RonS from: Atlanta, GA on
Got this to replace a fairly new, similar model that makes the rounds under about 10 different brand names (KitchenAid, Dacor, Electrolux, Frigidaire, etc.). That one turned to junk in about 2 years of use.
By comparison, this Samsung blows them away. Less of an industrial look on the outside but pleasing nonetheless. Significantly more interior space. The lighting is excellent and the drawers (which have broken on the "better" model) are on rollers. The innovative fold-up shelves are great for varying the use of the unit without moving/removing shelves.
The only thing the other model wins at is the ice maker. I'm not crazy about the maker on the Samsung. It is noisy. And the advertising on this model brags about the capacity, but it barely holds enough to fill a 1/2 gallon pitcher. I also wish the compressors were quieter - surprising at this price range. Don't get me wrong, this unit isn't "loud", it's just louder than I would have liked. Still, it is quieter than what i've heard from similar models.
This is a great refrigerator, especially if you can get it on sale.

Great Counter Depth French Door Fridge
Posted by: Bulletbob from: Denver, CO on
Let me be the first to say this fridge is everything great for a family of four. First off you can get a whole pizza box in the thing due to the fact that there is no middle wall separating the freezer so much better functionality! Then you can fill a pitcher of water so fast and the ice maker is just great. You can make a lot of ice, and it keeps coming. I love that!

We are in the process of remodeling our home. We purchased this refrigerator along with a Samsung gas range and dishwasher. We had new kitchen cabinets built and installed prior to the refrigerator being installed. We had our cabinetmaker "box in" the space for the refrigerator with side panels and overhead cabinets, creating a "hole" that the refrigerator slides into and results in the refrigerator being completely enclosed and the front flush with the front of our cabinets/countertops. We have only had the refrigerator a few days now, but so far we absolutely love it! I was a little worried when we first started considering counter depth refrigerators that we would be losing a significant amount of space compared to the full size models. But that is not the case at all! This refrigerator has tons of space inside with several large drawers and lots of room for large containers (gallon size) in the shelves on each door. The freezer is huge as well. I had read some reviews before we purchased this that said the refrigerator was noisy and sometimes very loud. I have not found that to be even remotely accurate. This refrigerator is super quiet! We are beyond 100% satisfied with this refrigerator and look forward to getting many years of good use out of it!

Ice maker quit - weak warranty support
Posted by: JohnFr from: on
Purchased new from Best Buy 7-31-2015. Ice maker stopped working 7-5-16. Called Samsung warranty 7-6-16. They said they would call back within 24 hours. No return call. Called Samsung warranty 7-8-16. Was put on hold for 10 minutes. They agreed to send a service person a week later (7-13-16). Service man showed up and said it wasn't under warranty (purchased less than a year ago). We called Samsung again and they finally the repair mans trip that didn't fix it. The Ice maker broke again a week later(It isn't fixed). Samsung at this point says they wont fix it (awaiting call). We purchased the extended warranty and paid full price for the fridge. Best Buy says "There is nothing we can do" . Neither Best Buy or Samsung will stand behind this refrigerator - at less than a year old with purchased extended warranty. Order # BBY01-738594007124

Food really does last longer w/Twin Cooling Plus
Posted by: ReviewedIt from: Denver, Co on
I replaced my 6 year old GE fridge that couldn't hold a consistent temperature (it would fluctuate 5-10 deg every day) and what a difference!
Not only is the LED lighting amazing, but the Twin Cooling plus system (that is exclusive to Samsung) actually makes food (especially veggies) last much, much longer.
Also, the ice maker is incredible. The ice master produces more ice than anything other brand.
Needless to say, I've been extremely happy with this fridge over the first 2 months.

Stylish Yet Functional Fridg.
Posted by: airman86 from: yorba linda, CA on
We purchased this Samsung to replace 12 year old Kenmore. We needed counter-depth due to space limitations. As all other appliances in our kitchen are LG, we were initially focused on an LG product. The salesman at BestBuy recommended we look at the Samsung. After doing some on-line research we were sold. This is a beautifully styled fridg that has all the right functionality -- cold, quiet, spacious and plenty of ice. This my first refrigerator with freezer on the bottom feature. I was concerned that things would become lost in the bottom of the drawer, but so far no problems there. Overall, we are very satisfied with this purchase and recommend the product most highly.

So far, so good!

Delivered somewhat on time (at the VERY end of the pretty wide delivery window) by really professional, courteous guys. Worried about getting scratches on the wood floors but they did a fabulous job.
The fridge itself was a special order due to our need for counter depth. Going from a side-by-side to a French door does make everything much easier to see and to access. The door pockets, due to the counter depth, are really narrow on the ice/water side. A little silly and frankly difficult to fit anything in those but not a huge deal. The other reviews have mentioned the loud compressor and the loud slow ice maker. I will concur with that. It's not so loud that you can hear it in other rooms, but I definitely walked to the fridge a couple of times to make sure everything was okay. It's fine, just takes some getting used to. And it really doesn't make lots of ice or make it very quickly so if you have a big party, plan to buy ice. Again, it's not a big deal. We are very happy with it.

Good so far, but with a few issues
Posted by: Bub1 from: on
Had to get a counter-depth fridge due to space constraints with our cabinets, and did a ton of research before settling on this one. Overall have been pleased with the performance of the fridge itself, though we've only had it three weeks. More spacious inside than our old side-by-side and flexible in terms of configuration. Same with the freezer, like the pull-out shelf. Ice & water dispenser is quick. Only real complaints:
- A few of the interior door shelves are tough to use because they're so narrow (due to the position of the icemaker)- very minor
- Surface smudges easily- very minor
- More importantly, the hinges on top of the fridge extend much further back than I thought they would, a full 10" from the front of the fridge. Because of this, the fridge will not slide all the way back into the space that we have for it. We are going to have to try to cut into the bottom of the cabinet above the fridge, which is a pain, but necessary if we want to keep the fridge and have it not stick out several inches farther than we want it to into the kitchen. If we can't make that work, we're going to try to return this and get the non-counter-depth version, which would end up looking the same as this one, but give us a few extra cubic feet of storage space and cost $100 less.

This refrigerator is noisy
Posted by: DaveB from: on
This is my first experience with a french door refrigerator. I like the way it is setup but there are some disadvantages over a side by side model. The space inside the refrigerator is small and difficult to use for tall items but I did purchase the counter depth model. Use of the full length deli drawer is a little inconvenient because you have to fully open both doors. My major complaint is that this fridge is NOISY, so noisy that I called a service tech out to listen to it. I was told that this is just how noisy the new fridges are based on the types of compressors used today. One of the reasons I bought the new fridge was because my 12 year old fridge started making some compressor noise -- it was quiet compare to this one. If you want to purchase this fridge just be prepared for the noise.
