Excellent Washer with minor design flaws
Posted by: NLV888 from: on
My old washer and dryer was 12 years old, so the many buttons seemed intimidating at first, but that quickly went away after just one use. The machine is very intuitive. The machine runs very smooth and quiet. I would recommend this unit.
However, despite it all, there are some flaws. First, the washer sits very low to the ground so I have to get down on one knee to transfer the clothing from washer to dryer. I feel they designed it this way to force you to buy the pedestal. Second, after 40 loads or one month, the machine will not shut off all the way after a load is complete. A flashing icon lets you know that you need to run a "self clean" cycle. Although this alert goes away after 7 loads from the start of the programmed alert, it does come back again after the next 40 loads or one month. That is not the problem. The alert is actually a good thing. The problem is the self cleaning cycle takes 3 hours and 20 minutes even though the estimated time says nearly 4 hours. During that time, the machine is using water and electricity, so I hope the need to run the self cleaning cycle is factored into the energy saving calculation because 3 hours is a long cycle.

The best !

We haven't had it long but so far I have washed lots of bedding and blankets, lots of children's clothing and stained sheets. The stain came out first wash. The washer and dryer make very little noise and any noise I hear from them is a comforting humming. I have owned junky whirlpool top loaders, a beautiful Bosch washer and dryer, and now these and these I love even more than my Bosch washer and dryer which surprises me. I love the add wash feature as I always am forgetting to add stuff so this feature is perfect for me. I love the azure color as well! It plays a cute little tune when the stuff is done washing and I feel that they are damp but not too wet or dry in the slightest so it's washing my clothes well. I love how the doors are tinted also it just gives it a sharp appeal and I personally thing that is a plus. I'm more than satisfied with our purchase!

My first Front Load Washer is the BOMB!
Posted by: msmarymac from: on
I did lots of research on this washer before I bought it. In the 2015 CR Buyers Guide this washer was placed in the $1000+ range, and got great reviews. I payed $650.00 at Best Buy in the outlet section. For that price I thought it would have a dent or two, maybe be a display model, to my great surprise this washer was mint! The delivery was anything but flawless, but on the actual delivery day the men were quick and professional, and I did my first load in it 5 minutes after they left. It's quiet, easy to operate, and can hold heavy loads including a King size comforter! Our clothes seem cleaner, and softer, smell great, dryer than the old washer after the spin cycle and I can finally wash 4 pairs of jeans at a time without any off center problem like my old top load. I am saving money on water, electricity and laundry products as well. I love SAMSUNG, and the best part of this washer is the pause button with a little door to throw in that sock that didn't make it into the washer ( because I dropped it carrying the basket to the laundry room) after it has already started it's cycle. AND no 250 dollar stand necessary because it is quite tall and I am short, plus I may want to stack the dryer on top and move my laundry room to the main level of the house. I'm so impressed that when my current dryer dies, I WILL buy the matching SAMSUNG dryer from BESTBUY!

Great size washer

We upgraded to a larger washer (had Samsung previously). Great washer as was our previous one. We did order the Smart Home adapter from Samsung for both our washer and dryer. I do NOT recommend spending the extra $25 each for it. The only thing it allows you to do is to see where in the cycle your wash load is and send you a notification when it is complete. It looks like it should allow you to actually turn on your dryer or re-start but it does not and after spending 2 phone calls and about an hour total with them on the phone (most of them only know about tvs), I gave up.

This is my first front load washer (after owning a top load for 25 years!) so I did a LOT of research before I purchased. Feature wise, the Samsung was not top of the heap. But what got me excited were the positive references to superior Samsung customer service. This was continually reenforced the more research I did. I even joined Consumer reports and there again, Samsung came out tops in customer service. So I took the plunge. I've had the washer a little over a month now. COULD NOT BE MORE IMPRESSED. The machine is quiet, super efficient on detergent whilst delivering a superior wash. Weirdly, the one feature that I thought was gimmicky - the Add-Wash - is something that I have used quite a few times already. Super handy!

Washer is great. Geek Squad is not.
Posted by: Householdof5 from: on
We purchased this washer and dryer set a month ago. The washer door won't latch now unless we hold it shut until it locks once a cylce has started. I called Geek Squad (because we purchased the 3 year service warranty) and was told that they couldn't help because it is still covered under the Samsung manufacturer warranty. Great. Except why did I oay for three years of extended warranty when I'll really only be getting two years out of the deal. Best Buy will not help AT ALL when it comes to fixing our washer. They just keep referring us to Samsung. I'm glad it will be fixed under warranty *fingers crossed* but am not at all happy with Best Buy and how they misled me and my husband on the warranty. When I have an issue, I don't want the run around. I expect it to be fixed promptly and efficiently as that is why I PAID for the service. We will never purchase again from Best Buy.
We love the washer and dryer otherwise. Works well and is huge compared to our old set!

I purchase this washer a week ago this is my first front load washer I was looking at this and a LG front load. I couldn't find many reviews on this but I think I made the best choice. I love it and how clean my clothes come out it is definitely worth recommending.I will be getting the matching dryer this week can't wait. I love the tune it plays when your load has finished and it turns itself completely off

Excellent machine, but don't pay extra for colors!
Posted by: kimm7 from: on
This is a great washer, but is not without problems. No one told me how delicate the finish is, so I will tell you. This is the first matching washer and dryer I have ever bought brand new, and I had to have the Azure color. I set a bottle of bleach on top of the washer while doing a load of clothes, and didn't notice that a little spilled. My new washer's finish is ruined. One week, and this beautiful set looks worse than my 20 year old Maytags. The color changed to a strange yellow color, which is very visible. How do you put a finish on a washing machine that doesn't stand up to laundry products? It also scratches very easily. And I paid $100 extra for the color!
I contacted Samsung to see if there was a touch up pen, and they referred me to their parts department, where I found out there is no touch up color available for Azure. Why send me to parts? I think that they should have known this and told me, instead of sending me on another internet search. I have always been happy with Samsung products, but I am disappointed in this. In their defense, it does warn you that bleach can ruin the finish, but the warning is buried in the middle of the manual, and its a pretty thick instruction manual.
Now that I have had the machine a month, I also have to call for service because the door won't lock. I have to hold it in to make the washer lock, so it will start.
Sorry I sound so critical, it is an excellent machine that does a good job on laundry, but if you charge extra for a color, I think it should stand up better than this. I now keep a set of silicone mats on top of it, to protect it, and to cover up the big yellow splotch. If I do recommend this to a friend, I will tell them to buy a scratch and dent model, it will look like it very soon anyway!

Enjoy the machine. A front loading washing machine. Have to remember to wipe out the inside edge to keep it from growing mold.

Love the addwash feature
Posted by: linda from: on
I have only had this washer for a month but it get five stars from me. I have so many wash options and haven't gotten around to use them all. I like that it allows you to add an extra spin cycle, my old washer had it but the wash had to finish and then I could use it. I have used the normal, quick, towel and delicate cycle with no problems. I was looking into buying another samsung washer and dryer but it didn't have all the wash options this one had. What really sold me was the add wash, I always seem to forget something and this is great especially when on your last load and one item slipped by you. This washer is bigger than the previous one I had so I don't have to do as many loads which is great. The washer doesn't have that funky smell but I do leave the door open to let it air dry in between washes. This washer has a nice melody at the end of the wash not that annoying buzzer sound. The color is beautiful. Its easy to use and you can save a favorite cycle under the my cycle save. Can't wait to try out the other cycles and smart home option.
