Seems fine. Been a hassle though

Over Labor Day weekend, I went shopping for a washer/dryer combo and decided on Samsung over LG among others based on various reviews. They were in high demand and delivery was pushed out about 10 or 12 days via Best Buy. Lowe’s had them on sale along with an additional 10% off coupon. Best Buy matched the price which saved me the time of having to go to Lowe’s, even though Lowe’s guaranteed delivery 5 days out. I’ve usually shopped at Best Buy and I am an Elite Plus member there so I’ve had my share of experience with them.
Anyways, the first washer was supposed to show up via delivery truck, but I received notice of a back order via email the day before -- after my work schedule was already changed. Best Buy had no plan for when I would get the washer I had already paid for because Samsung left them in the dark. I was offered a chance to upgrade to this washer from the 6200, but had to pay out of pocket for the up-charge. This was fine by me because I needed a washer as soon as possible and the steam feature added value for me. Mind you, this cancelation was 12 days after I had already paid for the thing! Anyways, the department manager was helpful and rushed the new one out for delivery the next day. The delivery crew was great throughout the whole process and were in and out in no time. Unfortunately, I had to deal with them 4 times…
After the third load through the washer, it would not drain. I set it to drain and spin several times and that didn’t help. There was literally a drum full of water and a door that wouldn’t unlock without powering it down. Luckily Samsung has an emergency drain. For some reason, my home was built without a drain in the floor of laundry room so I had to spend about 35-40 minutes draining water into a flat tray through what amounts to a rubber straw this is not long enough for the job. Since the tube was short, you had to drain into something shallow because it couldn’t reach a bucket. Luckily I had my girlfriend with to share this struggle with. I was able to take the clothes out once powered down and siphon some of the water from the drum to speed up the process. Being that it was a brand new washer, I assumed there was something wrong with the drain. I unhooked the washer and ran water down the drain for 15 minutes straight without an issue, so the drain was fine. Being that it was a Friday night and approaching midnight, I put the project on hold. I called up Best Buy and all they offered was to schedule a technician for the next week. Once again, the day before the tech was supposed to show, I get a call saying they scheduled the wrong person for the job and had to reschedule again. This is the third time I had to take time away from work and counting.
At this point, I went to my local Best Buy and waited to speak to the department manager again. He was swamped and I had to wait about 45 minutes before we could speak. Meanwhile, a different manager saw me waiting and offered to help. I explained the situation and he offered to see what he could do. I was leaving for vacation later that week and needed clean clothes for the trip. He understood my dilemma and my disdain for the laundry mat and said he would try to get me a loaner until they could get their hands on a 6500. They had an open box Whirlpool WFW92HEFC that I could use for the time being. It had some cool features and did a good job, but that review is for a different place.
Later that week, I received a delivery date for my Samsung 6500. THE DATE WAS SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 11th, OVER FIVE WEEKS AFTER THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE.
As far as the washer, I have had a couple weeks to use it. It has a lot of features and I have used most of them at this point. Most loads take about 50-70 minutes. You can choose the soil level of clothes, water temp, and spin speed for most settings. It has handled several loads of full size comforters nicely. My king size bed sheets have never felt so clean on the white setting. Towels and whites in general look great and feel like they have been cleaned well. I have soft water at the house and use Tide HE detergent for some things, Woolite for a lot of my clothing and athletic wear, and downy fabric softener for clothes that allow it. I washed a lot of clothes on cold and have used water as well. The steam setting has been tested on a few things, including the bathroom floor mats. It handled them nicely and they seem very clean. It was difficult to drain and spin them as they are rubber on the bottom. I am still finding the appropriate settings. Normal has done well with clothes. Heavy duty for heavy fabrics like jeans and the bedding setting seems to help as well. I like that it has a 25 minute quick wash to freshen up clothes that don’t need a full wash.
At this point it seems like a good washer, I just wish the process wasn’t such a nightmare. Samsung has been struggling as of late when you consider the Galaxy Note mishap and other stories of appliances arriving dead on arrival. But that is a risk you take with most things these days, so just kind of have to sit there and take it because ultimately, nobody wants to take responsibility when things go wrong. I had no intentions of writing this much and haven’t proof read it so sorry for any errors or lack of clarity.

YEP!!! I love this Machine
Posted by: Trabmada from: on
We researched like crazy to see what machine we would want to upgrade to. I've been a loyal LG washer/dryer appliance customer for a while. I've always like their products. In the past 6 years I've had 2 (yes that's right) 2 motors that went out on LG washers so that was it for them. I found this Samsung Machine and did some careful research. I looked at reviews from MANY websites (amazon, lowes, home depot, sears, etc) and all showed that this was a machine customers recommended. My wife is a massage therapist so we are CONSTANTLY washing large loads of sheets (7-8 at a time). We needed something with a very large Capacity. This machine hit every specification we wanted. The front add laundry door when the cycle has started is kind of interesting. I never thought I would use it but I find myself adding to the cycle a lot.
Overall, I'm VERY impressed. The steam cycles are great. I don't know if it's all in my head but I put some pretty soiled clothes in the washing machine with a steam cycle and I really feel they come out better than I've seen with my washing machines in the past.
Either way, I don't think anyone would be disappointed with this model. Best Buy delivered and setup for me so that was an awesome added benefit. Definitely would recommend to family and friends.

The BEST washer I have ever owned
Posted by: Becky from: on
This is by far, the best washing machine that I have ever owned. It does what it says it does and promises great results, which is the truth. My favorite feature of this washer is the ability to pause the cycle and add forgotten items through the little door. You're then able to restart the cycle and go on about life. My second favorite feature of this machine is that it has a sanitize and allergen option. With a disabled son that isn't yet toilet trained, we wash a lot of clothing due to potty accidents. You can also select normal or quick wash with this machine too. It is large enough to wash a king size comforter with ease, and when I say it is clean and thoroughly washed, this is no exaggeration. I am very happy with my choice. Samsung has not disappointed me yet...I also have the matching dryer, which is also a phenomenal machine.

Should not have bought it from bestbuy.
Posted by: Saji from: on
While buying my home appliances, all my friends recommended to buy it from home improvement stores like homedepot, Lowes or similar. I had to buy it from best buy. At first when I received the order, there were some light scratches at the front bottom right corner of the washer. Called the store and asked if the washer was working fine and if I would like to keep it then they would like to keep it then they can offer 10% discount. I agreed. After a couple of uses, weird sound started coming. Initially we thought it might be because we were putting less load of clothes. But as we started using it regularly, the sound became prominent. On calling bestbuy to replace it, surprisingly they replied that it's the 16th day and so they would not replace the appliance but would send out a service person.
The service person came and said "it is very heavy. I alone cannot move the washer, if you can move it out off its tray the I can check it".
The delivery guy had mentioned in his notes that the washer seems to be defective and still best buy doesn't want to replace it.
My order had 3 items and since day one we have been having problems.
Initially the dryer was defective and had scratches and dent. we could not use it till they gave a temporary open box dryer 1 week later.
After a week of using the open box dryer we got our new dryer.
Never buy home appliances from best buy. Go with home improvement stores, already they give you better support and service.

Exceptional Units and Stellar Value!
Posted by: HawnNish from: on
We purchased and had this washer delivered and installed along with its pedestal this past Summer (2016) to replace our old Kenmore Elite (top-loading washer and dryer) units; and, I waited to post a review to make sure that we experienced their features and operation enough to post a useful review.
All-in-all, we could not have imagined a better purchase after a month of on-and-off research of online reviews and customer feedback of its specifications and features. It was a close call between these matching units and their comparable LG units in this price range. We targeted the models a next level up from the base “economy” units; but, not the highest-end versions. These units have all of the practical options that you would get in the base models, plus some enhanced features found in the higher-end models. We’d say that these units are more than just a good compromise on some added features. There are so many types of wash/dry cycles, AND you have the “luxury” options of prewash, steam, etc. that the higher models have. Plus, you’re able to customize any combination of wash settings to your preference (steam, prewash, temperature, extra rinse, extra spin, economy mode, duration of cycle, yada yada yada & etc etc etc). The capacity is generous and you can do all of your bedding items together instead of MAYBE one at a time like in the top-loaders. I’d imagine that the stainless steel drums for BOTH the washer, as well as, the dryer, (not only the washer) will probably last a very long time (even beyond porcelain) compared to coated/powder/painted steel.
The ability to pause the wash cycle and add a garment midway in the wash rather than waiting until the end is awesomely convenient. I can’t imagine having to wait as we’ve always had top-loaders in the past that by design have this feature. Dax and Kristen weren’t kidding about the convenience on those SamSung commercials for these types of units, haha!
The economy of using less electricity and water is environmentally friendly and the technology still gets our toughest wine, grass and mud stains out completely (well, we wash these stains right away and prewash separately as needed … albeit, we’ve never brave enough to have tried just “going for it” and putting that untreated or old stain directly into the wash.
The dryer has the ability of simply undoing the bolts and catch and rotating them around the drum opening 180 degrees to open in the other direction. This came in very handy as our laundry room is relatively narrow so the direction of door opening is critical to our maneuverability within the room and quick transfers of the wash from the laundry to the dryer. This probably is a common feature to front-loading dryers; but, a good one to mention! We also had the SamSung side vent kit installed so the exhaust can neatly be discharged out the side and allow for the units to be pushed essentially flush back against the wall. This is an absolute must if your laundry room is narrow. Cost of the kit isn’t overly bad: about $50 or so, plus shipping if needed.
The controls are attractive and very easy to use and read. Lights clearly indicate the settings. Operation of both the washer and dryer are very quiet and many times we need to go into the laundry room to ensure that we indeed had turned them on!
We added the Bluetooth adapter (which is a bit too pricey we feel directly from the SamSung website) to each unit; but, it’s a simple plug-in to a small plastic-covered compartment, and after downloading the smartphone app, can monitor and even control our washes while away at the office! Neat-o! Now, we just need a remotely-controlled robot to conveniently add more dirty laundry to the washer or transfer completed washes to the dryer, haha!
Yes, I’ve seen some reviews that the musical jingle at the end of the loads could be irritating. But hey, you’re able to turn them off or set them to that old-school BUZZZZZZZ!!! if you prefer, so really it’s not a big deal or even an issue at all! Just an added option to make the finish-cycle notification a bit more palatable or pleasant.
The only perhaps drawback when compared to the LG models is its footprint and depth. For the same capacity, these SamSung units are a few inches deeper, which makes a noticeable difference in our narrow room. The side vent kit negated out this concern; however, of course its purchase and installation by a professional technician needs to be considered, as applicable.
Lastly, if aesthetics is important to you, and the color would adhere to your laundry room setting, I recommend opting for the black stainless finish if you don’t mind spending $50-$100 per unit more for this appearance. We’re completely happy with the white finish; however, smudges, temporary stains and scratches/dings are relatively evident on the white units. I’d imagine that they’d be much less noticeable on the black stainless finish; but, we opted to save some money on the pair (plus their pedestals sold separately) and truly focus on the performance and operation of the units, which of course are independent of the finish. As a final note, we couldn’t be more relieved to have decided to purchase the pedestals and have them delivered and installed along with the units instead of later adding them in and having to disconnect all the piping and ductwork, then reinstalling everything (spray Windex on the tile/vinyl or concrete flooring to make sliding of the units easier and height adjustment of the screw footings at the 4 corners). The added height really saves you a lot of bending over too far and being able to place a laundry basket right below the doors and simply scoop out the laundry rather than picking everything up and lifting them into the basket or directly into the dryer is a godsend. Plus, the pedestals are just the right height to not make the overall finished units too high to make viewing and operation of the control panel a challenge if you’re average height (of course, apparently not a big deal if you’re over 6’ tall, haha!).
Don’t hesitate on acquiring these units if the price is right (time the sales well, primarily holding out to about the Independence Day Weekend if possible, as this appears to the best time of the year to get washers and dryers due to all of the competitive pricing that develops by other big box stores (Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc.), as well as, even the smaller local outfits. Plus, you get the “backing” of probably better service and warranty coverages by the larger stores and the peace of mind should the smaller local store unfortunately (God forbid) go out of business at some point after your purchase.
If you spent the time to read this entire lengthy review, kudos to you! We are quite passionate and happy with our purchase; and, I truly hope that you found my review of them at least a bit helpful! :)

So Far so good!
Posted by: kchou777 from: on
Only had the washer 2 days, this washer has cleaned all our clothes. We are a family of 5, 2 adults 3 kids. This thing killed a week's worth of clothes in under 6 hours! The load capacity makes all the difference. We upgraded from a 3.5 cu inch whirlpool. This thing has been great thus far. My wife has been looking for clothes to wash now when they had been all over the place before. Will give 5 stars once we have had it a little longer. The larger Dryer is also very helpful for a family of this size or larger.

Love the extra door
Posted by: Sarahg from: on
I love all the settings and the extra door is great but u fortunately only after 4 months of having this machine it smells like mold and mildew :( I've left the door open between every cycle and whiped it down. Done everything they have suggested since I bought it and it still smells.

Worried about reliability
Posted by: KipN from: on
This washer gets two stars because it quit after two months in the job. Turns out the motor was finished and an inverter control module had to be replaced. We did purchase the extended warranty (thank God) but this all happened under the regular warranty. The local service guy was excellent but it did take three visits and 10 days before we were back up and running. Perhaps this is a rare event but it did happen and all should be aware.
The washer has great features but we replaced a set of 25 year old Matags that were still going strong. (Never needed a repair) Hoped for better efficiency with this set and it is too soon to notice. Certainly using less water than the top loader.
Good luck to you all and you should consider the cost of the extended warranty when making your decision to buy this set.
