Looks good but failed within a few weeks
Posted by: crezam from: Miami on
This range is definitely a nice looking one. Looks more expensive than what it is. I have had it for about 10 weeks and so far this is my experience:
- Cook top area has performed good. Powerful heat and things boil pretty quickly. The glass gets dirty easily but I imagine any range made out of glass will have the same problem. I recommend buying cleaning products made for glass cook tops
- The oven started working properly, then out of the sudden it cannot be turned on. A technician from the Geek Squad came and stated the internal board (basically the computer that controls the oven) is defective and needs to be replaced. Also the light on/off works only occasionally which is also indication the computer has some kind of defect.
I'm waiting for the replacement part so it gets fixed. I'm a little bit concerned about the performance of this from now. Who knows if the new part also will be faulty. I wonder if someone else has had a similar experience.
In summary, overall looks and features are great, the problem is reliability and the risk of an important part as the main board breaking after warranty expires. Maybe it would be wise to buy an extended warranty for it.

I like Samsung appliances but I have mixed reviews about this one. It looks very nice, front controls are very nice but I think it has a major FLAW! Is the cooling fan (NOT the convection oven fans, but the fan on the door) supposed to run at all times? even when only using the burning elements? I don't think this is normal. I've read two reviewers with the same problem. I've called Samsung but it really is a hassle to get warranty service :-(

Beautiful range but damages very easily
Posted by: Homecook from: Atlanta, GA on
I purchased and have had this range for about a month now. Works great except I was boiling some water for pasta two weeks ago and the water boiled over onto the cook surface and damaged the surface. I contacted Samsung which had a service center get in touch with me about the issue. I sent them photos (see attached photos) of the damage and upon their review and speaking with Samsung they deemed this physical damage and it will not be warrantied. I spoke to Samsung direct about this and they confirmed they will not warranty or stand behind this damage. So anyone that is looking for a new range, this is a nice range but the cooktop damages very easily. I hate to see what this cooktop will look like in 6 months. Needless to say I am very disappointed in the product and Samsung and will never purchase another Samsung product again. Buyer beware.

Love the cooktop, not so with oven

Love the cooktop; good controls and excellent cooking surfaces. The oven is major negative! Control panel failed in first 5 weeks and getting warranty service has been a major hassle!!!

NOT A GREAT FIRST IMPRESSION!

I was very excited to get this range,I have been wanting it for a while and I finally got it.It was delivered and installed, however the so called FAST BOIL is not so fast just regular. but that is not the big issue. the big issue is that he control panel is not working at all it has this control lock function that no matter what trouble shooting I have tried it still does not work and it would not allow me to set any other functions (clock, oven on /off,etc). I had to call the retailer for a replacement.I am Very disappointed and now concerned about anything else going wrong.

Great stove and great price
Posted by: Troy from: on
My wife and I had our eyes on this stove for about a year just checking prices. It retailed at about $1600 to $1700, but we got it on sale for about $1100. I couldn't pass it up at that price. First of all, the stove looks incredible. The touchscreen on the front is user friendly and it DOES lock (that was important for us because or little one loves hearing things beep). The convection cooking is incredibly fast, and it makes awesome crunchy french fries. It does preheat a little slower than we expected, but that's a small nit picky thing. We haven't tried cooking a lot of things yet, but we did have it for our family Thanksgiving get together and had several casseroles in there at the same time. It cooked evenly and quickly. It does have a conventional setting for baking too if you prefer that for casseroles or things like that.
There are only two things that are somewhat negative so far. The cooktop shows any smudge or dust on it. That being said, if you buy the stove top polish, it will make it look very glossy and brand new (I just mentioned the smudges in case someone has a little one rubbing the top of the stove...the smudges will show and be obvious). And the other negative is that the knobs to turn on the burners can be turned on without knowing it. If you lean on them, they can turn on. It happened to us...my wife leaned on it, it turned on, and we happened to have a plastic bag from hamburger buns on the stovetop. We noticed it melting quickly and turned the burner off and it hasn't happened since because we are conscientious of it. On a side note, the melted plastic came off fairly easily with a plastic spatula and my fingernail (once the burner cooled, obviously). Anyway, I tried to cover some of the things I wanted to know when purchasing this. Hope it helps someone. It is an awesome stove though, and we are very pleased with the purchase so far (we've had it about a month).

Great convection range

Love the range. I do miss the instant heat from gas burners for the stove-top though. We knew this when we purchased it. Just takes slightly longer to boil items. Otherwise, easy computerized menu on front. Professional looking

Worst purchase ever!
Posted by: jennifer from: on
Bought this oven from Best Buy exactly 18 months ago. Just paid my last payment to them in June. Used the self cleaning feature for the first time ever last week. The oven shut down about 1 hour into the cycle. Could not open the door and the panel went black. Had the local repair company out and they said it will cost $700 to fix. I only paid $1100.00 for it 18 months ago. I was never really happy with the oven/stovetop from the beginning. The oven temperature was inconsistant when baking cookies and could not hear the timer alarm. Also could not get the stovetop cleaned after the first couple of months. I had a Kenmore Kitchenaid for over 13 years and the stovetop looked as good the day I replaced it as when I bought it. I bought this range because of the great reviews it received and I loved that it looked like a high end range, but it does not last like a high end range. Will never buy a Samsung again! Beware!!!

Good Stove, If It Was Fixed
Posted by: secondcareer from: NH on
This should have been a dream purchase, who wouldn't love to get new stainless appliances for the kitchen? The old stove was removed and literally tossed down the front steps - okay, we didn't need it anyway. Wrong! The new stove had a side that was pushed in. The truckers thought they would just take it back and bring a new one in 3 to 4 weeks when it arrived. Really? I asked. And how am I supposed to cook? Finally they agreed to leave the new stove, which didn't fit into the opening that was configured with the measurements of the new stove. So, the stove was set up in the middle of the kitchen to await the granite guys return to adjust the opening and a new stove was ordered. New stove arrived and looked great. That was fine right, granite was adjusted and stove was installed, at least it was fine until I heated the oven for dinner a few days later. The little light kept telling me that the oven door was not closed, so I tried to open and reclose the oven door only to have it fall of in my hand and drop to the floor. Guess it wasn't installed correctly. Okay, I can get over that, but now to get a new oven door installed - well, it has been almost 3 weeks and we still do not have the oven door installed. Next week, okay, I say, next week it will be. Time will tell. Overall, I would have given the stove more stars if it arrived in good shape, had an oven door on it and I could use the darn thing. Somehow I didn't think that getting a new stove was going to be this big a deal.
