Had the unit less than 6 months before it needed service. the range is great and while it was working the oven was exceptional. However, it would appear that the oven stopped working after the first self cleaning done. the enamel inside the oven cracked after the self clean, and the oven itself stopped working (fried the board?) i would have given it 5 stars if it had not stopped working. it was an excellent range.....sad

LIke the product, but now hate Samsung
Posted by: BenB from: on
Range worked fine for 23 months. Then the oven burners quit. Stove top and broiler work fine, but not the oven. Now that should be a minor issue, call repair and have it fixed, probably something simple. As it turns out Samsung will not sell parts to your average quality repair man. They will only sell parts to their "authorized" repair facility, even out of warranty. Now that "authorized" repair facility has a three star yelp rating and is a hundred miles away. I'm not complaining about them, they are who they are, might do a great job, but a hundred mile trip to diagnose then another trip to repair.... Just wonder what that is going to cost? Best Buy needs to change their business model and quit selling floor / counter space to companies and really take personal responsibility for their product.

DO NOT BUY
Posted by: MagicMom from: on
Don't buy if you use the oven part a lot. It will go up to temp and then drop temp when you put food in there. If you bake, you will mess up your baked goods because the temp is so imprecise. I try to adjust it by the 35-50 degrees it is off but it seems that it is never off by a consistent amount of degrees. Here is another review that concurs with my experience.
EDIT: At a year and 2 months, the electrical component went on the fritz and NONE of the repair guys would work on Samsungs-- something about Samsung not guaranteeing parts over a month old so they have to order them special and then they take two weeks to arrive. Between this factor and the potential cost of repair equaling almost half of what we paid, buying a new stove after a year and two months. NEVER BUY A SAMSUNG STOVE.

The stove I have always wanted!
Posted by: Chris from: on
This stove is a pleasure to use, and as a bonus it looks sharp. The stovetop has a lot of room and the grates are sturdy, holding any of my larger pots and pans with ease. It is nice to be able to saute or use my wok on such a stable platform.
The oven has been working well- I held off on my review until I could try the broiler, but this functions as expected. The oven size is generous and gives me more room to work with, and I appreciate the number of rack positions available.
The controls are easy to use. It's nice to set a temperature and get a beep when the oven has reached the correct temperature. The light is great for looking through the large window on the oven door to check on baking progress without letting out heat. As a bonus, I wasn't sure I'd use the bread proofing mode, but it works so well I'll be making much more bread than usual!
When the stove needs a full cleaning (after sauteing or other cooking that spatters a lot), you can set all of the grates aside and get in there with some grease-busting cleaner.
The only disadvantage over our old stove is the amount of storage in the bottom drawer, but I willingly give that up for the roomy capacity of the oven.

Great range unit!

Spacious and well laid out for a standard sized range. Fits very nicely in our smallish kitchen. Color inside the oven is a nice deep blue! Wish it came in a dual fuel option. The five burners and the griddle provide a nice range of possibilities for using the cooktop.

very nice for price
Posted by: CookingDaddy from: on
Stove with solid specs, nice oval burner and griddle good for omelets, pancakes, etc, low sides so be careful or can be messy. Super quick preheat and nice even convection baking. Easy intuitive oven controls. Well insulated and oven lock a must with little ones running around. 7 rack positions and spacious oven give some nice flexibility. Power burner really brings the heat, simmer burner about what you would expect. Overall very happy with purchase would definitely buy another samsung appliance.

Good Value but a few issues.
Posted by: SmartConsumer from: on
Received this stove on Christmas Eve. The installation was a horrible experience but does not affect this review.
We baked a prime rib which needs to bake uncovered. There were some splashes on oven wall which we cleaned up with warm soapy water as the manual indicates. This left dark stained marks on the oven wall. We put our hand over the spots and it felt shiny like a new oven. We thought this was strange and are wondering why this happened. Next, if you lean against the stove to stir something in a back burner the knobs push in very easily and turn. So you need to be careful.
The main panel buttons do not press very easily. We had to press hard to turn oven light and oven button on. This may improve as we use the stove more, but unsure. The bottom storage drawer is very flimsy but we don't really use it to store items.
This review is based on one day use.

Great range for the homemaking cook
Posted by: Uwandah from: Iowa on
Love my new range! It's easy to clean all around. Food seems to cook more evenly. I'm also able to cook more in oven then before with a standard oven, which is helpful with a house full of boys!

Very nice gas range
Posted by: GridUser from: on
Okay, so this is our first gas range since 1978, so it is taking a bit of getting used to. That said, this range is easy to use and I'm pleased by it. It looks great and we're enjoying the convection oven. Since we are going from NO convection to a simple single fan oven, we don't know if the fancier ovens are better. It was a little hard to level the thing because there isn't much clearance to work with and the adjustable feet have a large adjuster thingy (the scientific name for the doohickey) that is hard to get a wrench around.
I really love the center griddle. I didn't think I would, but it is really nice. You have to be certain that the stove is level if you cook a whole package of cheap bacon on it. Otherwise the grease will all run down to the low corner and potentially leak over the side onto the top of the stove. One selling point for us was the fact that this particular oven DOESN'T have a warming drawer on the bottom. We need the space below the oven to store our skillets and can't imagine ever using a warming feature, so this was perfect for us. However, it IS a smaller space than the one this oven replaced, so the bottom tray doesn't hold as many skillets. If you want a warming tray on the bottom, you'll have to move up to the next model.
The other thing is that the cooktop gets dirtier than the sealed-top electric range that this stove replaced. Well, it doesn't actually get dirtier, it's just that we could just wipe off the electric cooktop when we were cleaning up after dinner. To clean this gas cooktop, we have to remove the grids (or whatever you call them) and then wipe up the spills and splatters, being careful not to dislodge the gas cooking elements (nearly impossible). We weren't used to or expecting this, so we'll just have to grin and bear it.
I should mention that the range came to us with a couple of small dents on the top of it. The installer noticed it and showed it to me. We could have ordered a new one and Best Buy would replace it when the new one came in, or take a 15% discount off and keep the dented one. Since you couldn't see the damage unless someone took a finger and placed it directly on it, we decided to take the discount. I would have no qualms recommending this Samsung range and Best Buy.
