Top tier Gaming TV. Excellent quality product.

Summary: This is one of the best gaming TV's around. If you are a gamer, this is your TV. HDR is a feature that is very noticeable, and worth the great picture. Few minor quirks make the user experience less than perfect, but improvements over its competitors MORE than makes up for it.
- One of the -absolute- best gaming TV's around. Clocking in at barely 1+ frame of input lag in Game Mode (19ms = 1.14 frames playing at 60FPS), this TV is in an elite class of very select TV's. Only the JS 7500 is better at 17ms (1.02 frames). There's quite literally only a handful of big TV's that fit this category. Samsung again hit the nail on the head here. If you are planning to play fighting games, FPS's or any sort of PC gaming on this, look no further.
- Samsung OS. Samsung's latest operating system is cleaner and faster. Furthermore, it allows you to navigate ALL the menus while media is still playing. This allows you to tinker with picture and audio settings, app settings, etc without disrupting your movie/show.
- HDR Display. Without going too into it, the hype does seem to have credibility. Undeniably a great picture. When calibrated correctly, it almost seems like you're watching through a window. And speaking of which...
- Ultra thin bezel. This thing is very minimalistic, sleek and sexy. The bezel is mere milimeters all around the TV, and the two-piece TV stand are individually very small as well. I hate to use the buzzword, "immersion", but if the hype is to be believed, this gets really close to that level.
- Slightly wobbly stand. If you mount your TV's, this doesn't apply to you. The TV stand is not rock-solid. By no stretch of the imagination will the TV fall off, but it does teeter if rocked. It does not move at all 99% of the time (namely, when you simply leave it alone).
- Remote control: The remote control is also minimalistic, but perhaps too much so. There's only very few buttons on it, and with barely any labels, there is a learning curve there. Plus, the power button is a little too sensitive. I've accidentally pressed it a handful of times now. Programming a new remote control is recommended.
- Lack of 3D. If you do not care about 3D, then this again doesn't apply to you. Samsung's 2015 and 2016 lineup forces you to choose between HDR or 3D. It's a simple matter of which feature you value more. Better quality picture, or a unique viewing experience? I chose the former, but could understand people wanting the latter.

This TV replaced a 46" plasma purchased in 2006 that finally quit, so my comparision to that TV is really just unrealistic. That being said, our friends who have purchased more recent TV's (all within the last 3 years) say this TV picture blows their's away. I got the curved not for any viewing benefit other than I had read online it would help with those blind spots from windows and doors reflecting on it. It does practically eliminate those for us. This may be very room layout specific though. Another bonus was I signed up for Playstation now and get to play a good bit of PS3 games without any console. I couldnt be happier with it. Be advised it is a large TV. When i was sliding it out of the box my wife said "That's too big." So be forewarned!!! It doesn't look that big in the store when its hanging next to similar sized TVs. She loves it now too though. Our couch is 8 feet from it and it works fine. If it were any closer it may be a bit too much though.

Best choice after weeks of research.

Lg's OLED is beautiful and works amazing however i will say this, the Samung curved TV is easier on the eyes in the dark. This TV is bright and has awesome colors with the SUHD technology. Also i was skeptical about the TV being curved. Because bestbuy offers 45 days to return for elite plus members i decided to take a chance. I will not return it because it works amazing. I bought this to play my Xbox One & for my future PS4 Pro. Even with my current PS4, it has greatly improved the way my games look. If you are on the fence about this TV, DON'T be. Buy it and see for yourself, if your not happy return it. All I can say is that this TV works great. Also, I have to mention that the media player on this TV works smoothly. I plugged in a portable 2 terabyte with 1080p and 4K MKV files and they played great. I played Xvid, Avi, MKV, files with no issues. Just thought you might want to know that little fact.

Great picture, even better interface

Picture in the store really impressed me. Didn't think I would like the curved screen as much as I do now.
After getting the TV on the wall (which required a dedicated trip to the hardware store for the mounting bolts that were not included) I was really impressed with the Smart Navigation system. Really makes watching steaming content easier than watching cable TV. Pulls your recently viewed Netflix and Amazon Prime videos to the navigation bar so getting back to your video is super quick and easy. Netflix navigation is also super fast compared to any of my other devices. I like the "Extra" content feature as well when watching football games, brings up all the stats on the sidebar while watching the game.
The simple remote took some getting used to, but now I wouldn't go back. Really easy to use and the voice command is pretty good.
My legacy Yamaha receiver wasn't in the setup list which is the only negative I can think of.

WOW what a TV! Amazing picture.

Replaced a 52" Sharp Aquos with this gorgeous UHD TV. It is absolutely magnificent. By far the best picture I have ever viewed. Don't hesitate if you have the craving to move up. You will not be disappointed.
However, the picture is SO sharp, several of the shows I follow have taken on a "new" ambiance. Hard to describe, but the viewing depth of field is SO dramatically enhanced, you no longer feel like you're watching a show but rather a PART of the show. You're no longer looking into the precinct detective's room, but now you feel as if you're standing within the room. It actually takes some time for the adjustment. Also you will notice minute details that you never noticed before. This can be slightly distracting. All for the good, but you will take notice for the first few hours or days.

A Great TV, At A Great Price
Posted by: KokomoCat from: on
Purchased my Samsung UN65KS8500 and it is a great TV. I cannot think of anything to complain about this TV. The colors are bright and the black is black. The best I have ever seen. I have been having a small problem, but it isn't caused by Samsung (I don't think), but I have Directv and am getting a message pop up that states, "This TV doesn't protect the content and to switch from the HDMI cable to Conponent cables". I had a Directv tech come and check it out and Directv believes it is a software glitch. Hope to get it solved soon. But this TV is the best one I ever purchased. I am really pleased with it. Oh yea, there was a $200.00 price drop and Best Buy gave it back to me. I like dealing with the people there.

Great TV - Curve enhances the viewing experience
Posted by: WoosterSteve from: on
We have found that the curve provides a great viewing experience. We are very satisfied with the quality of our picture. The SMART part is also helpful. We have sufficient apps that we don't see a need to purchase Roku or Apple TV. The only downside, common in several similar TVs, is the low volume. One will benefit from a sound-bar. We recently discovered a curved sound-bar and hope to purchase that with reward points. Definitely worth the price.

Ads in Menu
Posted by: Anoid from: on
Yesterday I would have given this TV a glowing review, Today I am giving it 1 star. Samsung has begun putting ads on the menu bar that you use all the time to access, well everything. Will this never end? Am I now only renting my TV ? Is it "licensed" to me? Well their total disrespect for the consumer has earned them 1 star.

Another Great Samsung TV
Posted by: CaffeinatedLink from: on
This is my 3rd Samsung TV. The quality of these TVs remain high. First one purchased was 8 years ago and that one still works great. Based on what I've seen from this TV, it will be much the same.
The picture quality coming from this TV is top of the line. We briefly were torn between this TV and a open box discounted OLED TV but decided to go with this one. No regrets. Originally I was not so sure I would like the curved feature but after looking at them in the store decided we really liked it and went for it. It's slightly more immersive and also helps a bit with glare. We actually have this TV in a wall with windows. The previous flat TV was sometimes very difficult to watch with so much glare from these windows but the curve of this TV significantly reduces this issue for us. Didn't know that would be the case, it was a pleasant surprise.

First tv was bad
Posted by: User101 from: on
I got this tv a week after it came out. It looked great in store like they all do but I knew from past experiences that what is being played in the stores are not what you are going to get at home. This tv was replacing a ten year old bulb set. Big step up from my old tv.
It was packaged well and setting the tv up on my table was easy. Had two spots to choose from to place the legs and went with the outer spot as it would balance the weight better. Registered it and it was manufactured in March so it was one of the first runs of the new tvs.
It didn't recognize my comcast cable box at first, even after searching and putting in the model number which it found it still wouldn't. Had to do a firmware update on it before it would recognize. The tv started showing the channels and I flipped through them but noticed the color of the peoples faces were to red or orange. Tv was set to standard picture mode and the gamma settings looked ok. I figured something was wrong but had to leave and I would look at it again when I got back.
Well when I got back the tv wouldn't turn on. The red light would just flicker but nothing happened. I unplugged it from the surge protector thinking it could be a bad contact as the surge protector needs to be replaced as its old also and tried the wall. Nothing, still red light just flickered. Great I thought got a lemon. Took it back to the store and they tried it and it just flickered for them also. Had to have one shipped as the store had no more in stock.
New set came and setup was easy. This set recognized my box right away, colors on peoples faces were normal and picture looked great. I had researched the tv before but being so new it had few reviews other than professional reviews so I didn't see where others had problems with their set. It wasn't until I had searched for the tv wouldn't turn on that I saw others on the samsung site where people had problems with it doing that in the 55inch or problems with their straight set and not this curved set.
Tv has been working great. Picture is excellent and almost life like on some shows. I know 4k tv is not here yet but it makes hd look awesome. Does a great job with picture quality.
The remote is ok, its small with not a lot of features like past samsung remotes. Lacks markings and menu you must navigate with the select button and right left and down buttons. Biggest con is the lack of inputs for the tv and you have to use their connect box which just has four hdmi, arc hdmi and digital optical audio out and two usb. No component outputs.
One connect mini feels cheap and its light so the cable that you connect it to the tv with will move the box around and any other cables you connect to the box will also move it easy as the unit is so light.
Price has since dropped again so they maybe trying to compete with lg. I love the thin bezel on it and the tv itself is thin. No problems with heat from the screen or the back of the unit. Sound from the speakers has been great and no need of having to buy a soundbar.
Would buy again.
