This was actually a gift for my girlfriend. We originally got her the fit bit blaze which is what she preferred because it looked more like a watch. Regardless of the looks, she waneeds the features like calorie counter, heart rate, sleep, phone link (for lack of a better phrase) and music controls from the device. While the fit bit was a nice looking piece of equipment, it's major flaw was that it wouldn't sync with the galaxy s7. It would with several other phones including the s6 and the s6 edge. But this device was able to do most if not all that she wanted and it syncs with the s7. Should have started with this one. She is very happy with this device. I would recommend this product.

Absolutely Worth It! THE SCREEN and Functionality!
Posted by: TerenceCruzCA from: Long Beach, CA on
I had the Surge, the Blaze, Forerunner 235 and Vivofit HR... I returned all of them... I loved the Blaze but it wasn't waterproof, the Surge I've had several times and had moisture issues... the Forerunner was MEH and Vivofit HR was alright... but the screen sucked... for the price and what you get, sure it won't last you 6-7 days of battery life, but for the look, feel and gorgeous screen... I am willing to sacrifice a few days less... notifications are awesome and did I mention the screen is just absolutely gorgeous... I wore my Surge while working out with this and it captured almost the same exact data... I highly recommend you get this... I pair it up with my Samsung S7 Edge! Perfection!!!

love this except one thing

I purchased this Gear fit2 when I was returning the Fitbit Surge which I didn't like for various reasons. I also have Fitbit Charge that I liked a lot until I purchased the Gear Fit2. The screen on the Gear fit2 is what caught my eye. Combined with the S Health App this is the best. My only complaint is, is that the band is not secure. It has fallen off my wrist at least 3 different times. I was lucky enough that I didn't lose it. How long is my luck gonna hold up? Today I found it on the floor in my car. Samsung should correct this problem on any new products

Better than expected
Posted by: AverageConsumer from: Arizona on
I am a bigger wrist gentleman so when I read the wrist size I was already thinking I was gonna have to get something else. When I went into the store a samsung Rep said I should try it in before any decisions are made. Reluctantly, I out it on and immediately loved how comfortable it was especially since I wanted the sleep talking so that was big for me. I than feel in love with the design and the beautiful vibrant screen which you will not find on most fitness trackers. I asked the Samsung Rep what kind of battery life should I expect and he said 2-4 depending on usage which is fair but than finished it with and it charges from 0% to 100% in 45 minutes. I can't complain. It's a great looking device in every respect it does all the tracking types that I want plus it s band is so comfy and stretches to fit my needs. I say try it out. So far I'm a happy customer.

I almost gave up on smart watches until I decided to give this one a try. I am beyond satisfied. The battery life is amazing... The previews of texts and emails is great, even when someone texts me a picture I can see them!

Loving the Gear Fit 2
Posted by: lxt2014 from: on
I picked up the Gear Fit 2 on Saturday and I've been very happy with it. It does a good job at tracking my steps, heart rate, sleep, etc. My only minor complaint would be that the screen sometimes turns on when I'm trying to fall asleep because of the wake up gesture for the display. But even so, it's not a deal breaker.
I love being able to get basic notifications on it as well (Incoming Phone Calls, Text Messages, Emails, Calendar Notifications). The Quick Responses are nice if you want to reply right from the Fit 2. You can edit and add your own custom messages but it also creates suggestions based on the context of the message.
If you looking for a good balance between fitness tracker and smart watch the Gear Fit 2 is a great choice.

So much potential...
Posted by: Iloveflf from: Brooklyn, ny on
I test ran the gf2 for 8 days. Although I knew after only a day that I would be returning it. The display, looks, fit and feel of the band are spectacular. And they were the only reasons I pushed off going back to my subpar looking fitbit charge hr.
Within 15 minutes of putting it on I realized that the 3 times I walked upstairs to prep for my first outdoor run...no flights of stairs were counted and over the next 8 days it counted only 10 of the approx 15 flights I do per day. Then came my first GPS used run...which only calculated half of my route. While mileage was close but not 100% accurate, the steps were way off normal. The same abnormalities occurred with my steps plus heart rate over the next 8 days. During cross fit exercises, there is no option to track the workout with heart rate being counted. The band's "other workout" has an option for moderate or vigorous workout types which calculates calories burned based solely on time of workout depending which type is selected.
I'm not sure if most or all of this stuff can be fixed via software updates but I will be keeping an eye on it, hoping. The band has so much potential but the basic fitness operations of the band just aren't good at all.

Nice, but with serious HR/GPS accuracy issues.
Posted by: Erkelbot from: Minneapolis on
So far, so meh...
I mean, the hardware is great -- it has all the features I wanted. Waterproof, GPS, HR, fitness tracking...everything. And aesthetically, it's beautiful. Legible in light, and a great presentation. I also LOVE the notification options for text, calls, and other apps you indicate are important. Said differently, it allows you to customize what apps have permission to send notifications to the tracker...
So why 'meh'? Well, I've been on two runs. The first, the GPS was accurate. The HR, however, was WAY off. It read I had a heart rate of 220 at one point. That's just wrong -- but a lot. I regularly wear a chest strap for my runs, and I really never get over 195. The second run?... The GPS registered about half the distance... AND, the HR read 225 this go. Again, completely wrong. Not good when accuracy is paramount...
Another thing I'll say about the Fit2 is that it's not very liberal with steps taken. Meaning, if you are holding a cup of coffee in your right hand and go for a stroll, you probably won't get credit for the steps.
The app is pretty bad too. There's some serious work to be done here where they get it to be more like FitBit or other more friendly ecosystems to users. This isn't a deal-breaker for me, but I do miss the FitBit app -- it was just really well designed.
I'm waiting on a replacement from BBY. Mine COULD be a dud, but I'm a little worried about the next one too. However, if mine is just an anomaly...and it is a dud...It's an awesome device. Seriously, the promise of the hardware are GREAT.

FALLS OFF ..LOST IT
Posted by: pink from: on
Had it for a week and it fell off while out at mall never felt it come undone or fall off... just was GONE when I looked down. Should have listened to other reviews that said they LOST theirs also. So take my advise if u buy this either DUCK TAPE it to your wrist or DON'T wear it at all cause if u do you will loose it and that folks is a FACT! Looked for hours for it never found it what a waste of $ . POOR design by Samsung and they do not even acknowledge their design engineering fault. In short STAY AWAY from this until Samsung redesigns band .

Wonderful Fitness Device
Posted by: PeterPanana from: Wisconsin on
I have had my Gear Fit 2 for a few months and it does just about everything I hoped! It works great for tracking bike rides with GPS, and it pairs very well with my Samsung phone. The heartbeat tracking works well too. I really like how it ties to notifications from my watch. I also like that it shows picture messages that I receive. My only grips with the Gear Fit 2 is that I wish it had more app support. This past weekend I used a Golf app which was really neat! It would continuously tell me the distance to the pin from wherever I was. It worked great! I wish there were a few more apps for it though, like one to control any music being played from my Android phone. Other than that, it's a great device! I haven't had too much of an issue with the band coming undone. I can't say it hasn't happened, but it's pretty rare, and how the strap is made, it doesn't fall off when it comes undone, but it has happened once or twice. I would definitely recommend this device!
