Finally Glasses friendly Posted by: from: Madison Tn on I preorederd this as soon as I read it could accommodate some eye glasses , I owned the one sold for the S6 & S6 edge and ended up selling it because It was always blurry and I can't buy contacts in my prescription I'm very happy with the changes they made and all the new content available especially Netflix and the Oculus cinema they now have Movies you can buy they do say movie rentals are coming soon Which will be even better. The only reason I didn't give this 5 star's is because unlike the first 2 Gear VR they released this one doesn't come with any type of carrying case or a lens cleaning cloth I don't know why they made the choice not to include even a cloth bag like they did with the 2nd Gear VR because you have nothing to store it in when your not using it or if you take it somewhere. Other than that this one is by far the best Gear VR out of the 3 if you have a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 or S6 , S6 edge or S6 edge + this is a must have I would just suggest buying something you can safely store it in

Good, but returned. Posted by: from: on I picked this up on a whim as it was compatible with my S6 Edge+ and the reviews were pretty good. All in all this a very cool device and a lot of fun. Kids will enjoy, and it's neat to kick back in a virtual movie theater . However, a lot of content has to be purchased, files are quite large (no expandable memory in these phones to store it), and the phone does overheat. The Gear VR also fogs a bit at times, which makes it difficult to use. The biggest drawback to me was the "screendoor effect". The phones screens are sharp, just not sharp enough to be magnified to this level causing a low resolution experience. I am returning for the following reasons. Overheating, fogging, expensive content, requires a controller for good games (more money) and low resolution. Also this device is limited to 4 specific phones, and I upgrade to often. Not sure if it will be compatible with the S7 when it is released. Not a bad device, great intro to VR at a great price, but it is gimmicky and gets old pretty quick. Not to mention some people will get motion sickness. It's not a terrible device, and it's probably worth the 99 bucks, but I don't see myself using as much as I originally thought I would due to the issues noted.

Great VR Posted by: from: on I received the Gear VR today and setup was easy with my Note 5. The experience with watching videos and playing games is amazing! It's worth the price! By only gripe is there is no case included to keep dust off when not in use.

Excellent product for an excellent price Posted by: from: on I had read numerous reviews from here, as well as other websites on this product. After a little hesitation, I purchased this product. Out of the box, other than the VR itself, there were two straps and a user manual. Setup was a breeze, and the downloads depend on your speeds at home for installation of the app and any updates to the VR. As for the VR itself, it's been nothing but a blast for myself, family and friends. Some apps involve more motion than others which may cause some motion sickness, but all in all it's been well worth the money spent. Yes, it's not an Rift but is not tethered like the rift, so now need for a high performance comouter, only a Samsung compatible phone (6+, Note 5) Positives: Price, entertainment value, untethered Negatives: App Price, touch pad, phone heats up during prolonged use. A few notes: Most apps cost money. Some a few bucks, others upwards of $10.00. Yes, there are free apps, and I would recommend playing the developer apps, as they are free and usually some of the most entertaining. Milk VR is Samsung's version of the Ocolus store, a must have. Recommendations: A good pair of headphones, swivel chair and controller. Headphones only enhance the overall experience. Swivel chair allows you to see the entire 360° field of view, seeing EVERYTHING going on. Finally, a good pairable controller is a must. If you spend more than 30 minutes on here playing games, you need a controller. I picked up the MOGA PRO for 49.99 from Amazon and it has increased the enjoyment/entertainment factor exponentially.

Not bad, but needs more. Posted by: from: on Getting this with my new S7 Edge was a nice bonus...I'm glad I didn't pay money for it. While it's a neat entry into the whole VR thing, the number of apps for it is lacking, and the VR movie experience is less than thrilling.

Wow so cool Posted by: from: on So I snapped in my note 5 and bam I was in a new world. Just unbelievable that this headset can do what it does. It even has full on Netflix that gives you a movie theater experience. It has games you can purchase and all kinds of different environments to explore. My kids can't get enough of it and I have have been waiting to get another turn lol. The one drawback i can see is i wish the picture could be a little better. It has a slight blur no matter how well you adjust it. But for 99 dollars it's a must buy and lots of fun! I can't wait to see how far samsung takes it! But for now it's definitely worth a try!

Sweet tech for Samsung owners Posted by: from: on After tons of research I finally pulled the trigger and bought this VR tech. Let me tell you if you've used Google cardboard or the Chinese vr goggles (which I've used both) there is NO comparison what so ever. This tech is sharp and responsive. Only grips I have are that your nose hurts after a bit because the goggles rest on it (some foam like weatherstripping worked as a cushion ) and the pixel density isn't quite small enough. You will notice what's called the screen door effect BUT it's easy to look past. Everything is integrated into the VR experience like games and videos excluding a YouTube app and any google cardboard apps. Videos are pixalated but some are OK to watch. All the games are worth every penny and very immersing. Let me tell you... when your playing a murder mystery and you look in a mirror to see someone is standing behind you.... you will be wowed by your responce. Great buy... just pull the trigger and buy one!!

Awesome product Posted by: from: on I was going back and forth whether I should buy this. After reading a ton of reviews I decided to pull the trigger. I was not disappointed! I downloaded Temple Run VR which actually made me a bit queasy. The graphics were AMAZING!!!! 11 minutes into the game I got the warning that my phone was overheating and need to cool down for optimal performance. So, I took my phone out and let it cool down. This happened several times throughout playing multiple games. I think this is a super cool product. My only drawback would be the heating of the phone issue. It would be cool to go an hour or so without seeing that warning. I'm going to return it. Not because it's not a good product. But only because I would like more consistency while playing.

No contest. Best Entry Level VR. Period. Posted by: from: on If you are looking to test the waters in the world of Virtual Reality, this is the absolute best way to do it! You might ask why is this such a big deal? How is this different from looking at 360 videos online or playing games on my 90 inch TV? The big deal is this: imagine you no longer have the rectangular shape of the TV in front of you. Instead, you are surrounded in the video or the game environment. It is all around you as if you were looking through your own eyes. Moving your head does just that, it moves the environment. instead of looking at a screen and pressing UP on the controller to view a massive dinosaur or tall tree, you stand there the way you would in the real world and you LOOK UP. Yes, there are reviews saying it is not HD video, but when you start getting lost in the experience, the resolution is the LAST thing you will be thinking about. You won't notice it. Trust me, I am a person that exclusively buys Blu-Ray movies for the clarity and I'm telling you the VR experience is what matters and is what blows away any thought of HD video. Oh, and the physical unit itself looks, feels, and is very sturdy. It is also very comfortable and doesn't feel front-heavy on your head if adjusted correctly.

Great experience! Posted by: from: on I had first seen this when my brother-in-law brought his Gear VR over for me to try. I wasn't sure if it would be worth it at first, but as soon as I put it on and saw how amazing and clear everything was, I knew I had to have it for myself! Both my phone and my wife's phone fit into this (Samsung Galaxy 6 edge+ and Galaxy 6) and we have not had any problems with either. The ONE and ONLY downfall I have found so far is that the selection for games and experiences is small so far, but Oculus keeps adding new programs all the time, and even since I bought this, there have been numerous new games and features added. The touchpad makes it easy to navigate the menu's and works for most experiences, but to get the full experience, I'd recommend a good bluetooth controller that you can use to control more of the action driven games and apps.
