With up to a 16GB capacity, this SanDisk Cruzer SDCZ60-016G-A46 USB 2.0 flash drive allows you to take a variety of digital files with you on the go. The retractable USB connector and included SanDisk SecureAccess software help keep your data safe.
Measured in megabits (MB), gigabits (GB) and terabits (TB), this is the amount available for storing files, music, movies, photos and more. The total includes the capacity of the hard disk drive and solid state drive if both are included on the computer.
Sandisk Cruzer is not for everyone
Posted by: jmkyle from: houston, tx on
Sandisk puts software on its' Cruzers to allow you to have software available to you on the road. The application software allowed, however, is not of your choosing and you must buy generic browsers, word processors and such. Unnecessary if you have a laptop or netbook or are using hotel computers. There may be a security advantage and if you're interested in that type of thing, you should check it out before buying.
The problem is that if you don't want this capability or the windows and GUI's that keep popping up when you insert the drive, you can't get rid of them. You can delete all system software on the drive but then you get dismount/eject warnings and it re-installs certain folders when you insert the thumbdrive the next time - not enough folders though for the Cruzer system to work again without re-installing other stuff so now you have a hodge-podge mess on your drive and those incessant warnings and pop-ups to kill all the time when all you want to do is see the files on your thumbdrive.
If you just want a simple flashdrive to drag files to and from, almost everything else is a better alternative because this is really annoying. Too, it's not easily clear (to me) which Sandisk products have this unwanted "take your important files along" nonsense on them and which don't. I believe the term to look out for is 'Cruzer' but I'm not certain enough of that to buy other Sandisk products and risk getting another toad.
I will say the drive has worked flawlessly. It is lightweight plastic and the retractable port is nice and not too common. Just be forewarned you are getting more than you bargain for if you're just looking for a simple thumbdrive to store files on.

Not good for Xbox 360
Posted by: Mercuryrising from: Clovis, CA on
I bought this because it was on sale, my main goal was to install the Grand Theft Auto 5 Play disc (disc 2) onto the flash drive so I could benefit from the 360 DVD drive not having to work the whole time I'm playing (Plus it's noisy).
When I formatted the USB drive on the Xbox 360 it popped up a "Performance Warning” message saying this drive doesn't meet Xbox 360 performance standards and you may experience problems.
I went ahead and tried it anyhow but I experienced pop-up and some textures would load in later than they should during game-play.
I ended up taking it back and bought a Patriot Xporter XT Boost 16GB and it works great, it also passed the Xbox performance test.
I would only recommend this Sandisk if you're taking advantage of the sale and don't need it for Xbox 360.

I have used 4, 8 and 16gb Sandisk Great Products
Posted by: bigdtex from: Augusta, GA on
I purchased the 16GB sandisk for additional storage on my laptop.
I have used the 4 and 8 GB sandisk thumb drives for several years with no product issues or data loss.
Easy to install and use.
Good way to protect personal data.

Not as good as earlier versions
Posted by: hammerdwn from: Texas on
This 16Gig capacity Cruzer was an OK deal @ $19. The item contains a new feature called "My Vault" to create a password protected area. I set it up, within a few days, for whatever reason, the "My Vault" software feature does not work and cannot be re-installed. I can install drive in any PC and view any file. My older 4G and 8G Cruzers work just fine with their password protection software. Too much of a PITA to return the 16G item......I'll delete the important money stuff, and use it just for photos, but I won't be back to "buy."

Good capacity slow write times
Posted by: Chrichr from: on
I bought the drive for its 16GB capacity at a price I could not pass, $15. I like how much space I have but read/write times are fairly slow especially write times. Do not get this as an addition for the 4GB XBOX360. If you need something with fast write times do not get this. For normal use it would be just fine.

SOLUTION for useless keychain part
Posted by: mistersimard from: Laguna Niguel on
I bought this device assuming that there would be some relatively easy way to attach it to a keychain. Without this, it becomes useless, as I don't want to carry it in a pocket. I tried the usual attachments, with no success. It was starting to really annoy me. I went to the hardware store to ask if they had any ideas, but they were no help. When I was walking around, I saw some black zip ties (aka cable ties) and I tried one of the very smallest ones. With a little work, I got one through. It actually provides a pretty secure solution. So if you're frustrated and about to return this because of the pathetic keychain part, try a zip tie!

I bought this day after Christmas, and it usually is $70 but I got it for $20. Value is just absolutely awesome. I use it for my Xbox 360, and it holds all of my favourite games and moves. The USB head is retractile so I don't loose the caps like I used to with my old PNY flash drives. Overall, great drive for the price.

Danger! This is can be a disaster!
Posted by: Bywater from: New Orleans on
This is the worst purchase that was ever foisted on me by Best Buy. It you open the menu and click on SanDiskAccess you will be instructed that the flash will not work unless you download the updated security and Adobe Flash update: that leads to an installation of adware, or should I say malware. Total disaster.

great flash drive if you need a lot of storage
Posted by: gracebonbon from: gardena, ca. on
I bought this flash drive as a replacement for one I damaged. It really holds a lot of stuff and I believe that it can hold more than a couple of years worth of my work.
The problem that I have with it is that the slide ocassionally makes it difficult to get a firm connection with the usb port and this makes me worry that it will break. Also the little hole on the top makes it difficult to put it on a lanyard or key ring so I have to carry it in my pocket or purse.
