Not bad for the price

Now i have had office chairs before and being a big guy, 6'4 and 240 pds, This chair holds up well, i had it since Nov, and one thing i learn about office chairs is to always protect the armrests, because they will crack no matter what the material is. I use office arm covers, and not only do they protect the armrests of your chair, thy add a little more padding to boot. The assembly of the chair was not every diiffuct at all. The istructions were very easy to read, you get a step-by-step instruction on how to assembly your chair, i like the part where they actually give you a time frame and all tools needed for the job are also included. This chair is very well built and very strong, and does not squeak. The one disapointing facter is that this chair does not lean back or tilt, i don't know if i read the features correclty when buying this chair, but it doesnt lean back for those who are thinking of getting this chair. Normally, i would had taken it back for another chair, but that being said, i kept the chair because it well built and holds up well.

This Is the Chair I Have Been Looking For!
Posted by: rigermortis from: North Carolina on
Now don't get me wrong... I am fat, and there's no sugar coating it, because I'll eat that too, but this chair is comfy. It was simple enough to put together. Does not feel cheap in any aspect. The lowest setting is a little higher than I wanted, but I can live with that. I highly suggest this chair to anyone that is even a little over weight, because it seems like a really good chair.

Good chair for the money
Posted by: DerekSig from: Phoenix, AZ on
This is a great chair, it's sturdy, but a bit noisy when moving around in place when sitting in it. The back is taller than normal as well which is nice. It could go a little lower. I'm 6'4" and at it's lowest setting it's about right for me - hence it being a "big and tall chair". I would recommend buying this chair because the price for what you get is great!

these people must not work in this chair
Posted by: CALIxE from: on
im not the biggest guy.5'9" about 210 I bought this because I sit in it all day. I work at home and also game so i thought this would be plush coming from Serta. Too bad the return exchange period starts the day you buy it online and not when it gets shipped to you which i ended up having to wait over the weekend because the shipping did not come to the store on time. What would've been the 13th day since i got it i had realized that the padding had already "deflated" if you will. When I sit in it the cushion literally goes pffffft. This chair is so uncomfortable. I'm not here to bash it but I'm not happy at all. The only tilt function it has is the entire chair tilting back which i kind of knew and embraced it so it would force me to sit upright. The lever you use to adjust the height is the same thing you use to lock this chair in an upright position. You have to sit forward and push the lever into a hole like a metal latch on a gate (I'm not sure what you would call it). when you are sitting upright the pin just basically falls out. If you lean back don't do it trust fall style because I almost ate it.
As mentioned before, so much for the cushioning. My back is killing me after sitting in this all day and i can literally feel the metal frame from the spot where you need the most cushion. I am now going to call this a loss since i couldn't return it and suck it up and buy a real chair at a ridiculous price because almost $200 doesn't really get you anything anymore i guess.
Also this thing makes a ton of crickity noises. It's just crazy
Cons- now having to add the cost of this to a more expensive chair i should've bought in the first place.
Others- My Serta icomfort bed i bought 4 years ago is the best thing i have ever slept on and my wife and i have trouble sleeping anywhere else. I can not believe this shares the same Company name.

Amazing chair , but ....
Posted by: sabarish from: on
So reluctant to buy a chair online and finally booked it after seeing the review more carefully. The chair is absolutely amazing for a big guy. It doesn't make the squeaking noise turning or during a drag.
But the right arm rest has 2 screws in which i was shocked to see there was a plastic mold blocking the hole. I can't imagine this is a defective one.
I had to use my drill to clear it off so that the screw goes through it .
That's 3 star !

Terrible customer service for faulty parts
Posted by: Reseda from: on
I purchased this chair 5 months ago. I have been able to use it for a total of two weeks since it arrived.
I am 6'4", 280 lbs and chose this chair because (1) it is designed for Big and Tall persons and (2) it was advertised as a Serta product. It arrived in good condition and was easy to assemble. On the second day of use, one of the bolts attaching the arm to the chair broke, making the chair unusable because the back is attached by the arm to the seat. I called customer service for True Innovations (it turns out this is a Serta-licensed product and NOT a Serta product) and had to wait 90 minutes to talk to someone. I waited 10 weeks to receive the replacement parts. The wrong parts were sent and I am still waiting for the correct replacement parts. At this point, I will buy a different chair and take this as a loss. I will never buy a True Innovations product again and I suggest you avoid them as well.

Good while it lasted
Posted by: jefslat1 from: San Antonio, TX on
I really liked this chair when I got it. I'm 6'3" and 300 lb. so I need a sturdy chair and this one seemed to fit the bill. Then the cheap imitation leather on the arms began to crack and peel. After two years (probably the very day the warranty expired) the hydraulic cylinder failed and would not stay raised. Serta should stick with making beds and leave office furniture to someone else.
