Synopsis

Severed
A city is in the grip of a particularly bizarre and bloodthirsty serial killer in this tale of horror and suspense starring Vanessa Sanchez, known to wrestling fans as Tygress from the old WCW franchise. A community is on the edge of panic after reports of a number of grisly murders in which unsuspecting victims found themselves decapitated. After a pair of law enforcement officers become the killer's next victims, Martin Blake (Peter Reh), a former FBI agent turned private investigator, is called in to track down the fiend. Working alongside Blake is Evangelina (Vanessa Sanchez), a woman well versed with the practices of the occult, and together they investigate the dark world of voodoo and the supernatural. Severed was the first film for writer and director Matt Green. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Creepy Crawlers
A mutant African cockroach infests a remote Maine island just as young Dr. Ben Cahill (Thomas Calabro) goes there to shake off the effects of his heavy drinking. His first encounter is with Jack Wolk (John Savage), a local who resents Cahill buying his family's dilapidated house. The resentment turns violent and Sheriff Hobbs (Dean Stockwell) is called in to cool things off. When his house turns out to have problems he can't fix, Cahill meets handywoman Nell (Kristen Dalton), who helps him out. But meanwhile, beneath the surface, those cockroaches begin reaching critical mass, attacking first animals and then humans as their numbers increase. The bugs use carcasses in which to breed, and soon they not only cover the ground, they also begin to fly. ~ Buzz McClain, Rovi

Carnivore
Kids discover that an old scary house is a lot scarier than they ever could have imagined in this gory horror outing. Four teenagers looking for a good time decide to have a party in an old house, that, according to local legend, is haunted. However, the kids soon discover that there's something worse than ghosts waiting for them -- the basement of the house is actually a secret laboratory set up as part of an undercover government defense project, and their latest project is a mutant creature that can be unleashed against our enemies. When the monster accidentally gets loose, the only hope for the kids is if government intelligence agents trying to keep the project under wraps can find and kill the creature before he finds them and tears them to bits. Shot and edited over a period of ten years, Carnivore was the first feature film from horror fans Joseph Kurtz and Kenneth Mader. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Children of the Living Dead
It's never a good idea to have a dead person mad at you, as you will learn from this horror opus. As a child, Abbot Hayes (A. Barrett Worland) was tormented by his emotionally unstable mother, and he grew up to become a sexual predator and mass murderer. But Hayes' evil didn't come to an end with his death; he became a zombie and banded together an army of the bloodthirsty living dead, cutting a swath through the small town where he lived before vanishing without a trace. Nearly a decade and a half later, the terrible story of Abbot Hayes is discussed by curious visitors to the town, but not the locals, who prefer not to mention Abbot's bloody legacy. But when an unscrupulous local businessman buys up a cemetery and makes plans to move the bodies to a mass grave, the undead Mr. Hayes returns, determined once again to show his deadly strength to the people who permitted this show of disrespect to the dead. Children of the Living Dead also features legendary special-effects expert and sometimes actor Tom Savini in a small role. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
