An interesting album, but not memorable.

I'm a John Cale fan, so I pretty much like everything he has done (or will, i think?). I was looking forward tot his album after both "Black Acetate" and the "Extra Playful" E.P. which preceded this album. Although I think John's voice and vision are fantastic, I found this album to be a bit glossy and overly produced; dare I say flat because of this. The songs didn't really "grab" me and I have yet to walk away "humming" any of the tracks or thinking how great the album is. I enjoyed "Black Acetate" more, which I think is a more "typical" experimental rock album, this reminded more of "Hobosapiens" If you're a Cale fan, you'll probably find bits and pieces that you'll like, but I wouldn't expect to be blown away by the album.
