Good deal...Nice zoom...We just took a trip to the mountains and were able to get some great shots of the city below because of this lens... We love it !!!...The image quality is good but is certainly not going to rival a high-end lens like the Canon 70-200 L. I am please with this lens....This lens allowed me to get up and personal while being at a distance.I am also able to get lots of detail with moving animals or children.

Excellent all-in-one lens!...a great telephoto...Excellent for general shooting and close-up photography....got it during holidays deal and it was worth spending the $$$$....The only "negatives" is it is a little heavier and a little longer that the standard 18mm to 55mm lens.

nice lens...Go for it....Great for sneaking up on wildlife....or a great alternative to actually walking closer to other things that you would not have to sneak up on if you are just lazy....Because it does have a great zoom length, you may want to think about getting a tripod for the shooting subjects that are real far away (such as the moon)....It has been my personal experience with the Nikon - AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f - 4.5-5.6G ED VR Telephoto Zoom Lens - Black - Black a great ease of use, crystal clear shots and amazing telephoto clarity of the images I photograph.

Awesome !!...Good lense....I use it more than the normal lens that my camera came with, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to buy an additional lens for their camera....We have quite a few different kinds of birds that visit our backyard and this lens has enabled me to get tight shots without having to get too close and scare them away....It's good for people who use tripods mainly using lenses such as these but if you are hand held most of the time and active, probably not the best choice.

Good buy!...Thank you...I was able to take some decent night sky shots using this lens, and was lucky enough to have it for some very clear and pretty Aurora Borealis shots....However that is not really the purpose of any wide angle lens, so as long you adjust the shutter and iso respectfully the f4.5 should not be a problem....Needless to say, I had to return the lens and ended up with the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 which is a MUCH better video lens that is still decently wide-angle.

Great all purpose lens!...Very glad I purchased the lens....At 18mm 3.5, I am able to get more bokeh than at 18mm on the Nikon basic lens kit 18-55mm....Like others sat it's not as smooth focusing and it does take a little more time to focus but the end result is a fantastic photo!!...Same thing at the vice versa position: when lens all in and point camera down, it will slide right out.
