Not bad but have some issues
Posted by: kayaker2001 from: CT on
These are brand new and only available at Best Buy, right now, so I hadn't found any reviews and decided to take a chance. The instructions are sparse - a big folded sheet of paper with an annotated picture and terse descriptions of various functions... in a bazillion languages, but it's not hard to figure out how to use them.
For me, the fit is pretty good, no complaints there, but I find the controls a bit hard to use. The buttons work different than those on my iPhone earbuds. For example, on these, to skip to the next track you press and hold the volume up button for about 5 seconds - which is a bit awkward, especially while running. More bothersome, the buttons are enclosed in a thick gummy plastic/rubber, which gives much less tactile feedback than the crisp buttons on other earbuds.
As far as the sound quality, I think it's pretty good - crisp and balanced, with no hiss. The Bluetooth delay is minimal, so watching videos isn't a problem. The bass is OK, but not overwhelming. I guess many people might think it's a bit weak, but seems OK to me. But here's the first problem... they're just not loud enough. Now I'm NOT one to blast my ears, so it's not that I'm expecting 100 decibels out of them, but on many tracks, I have them maxed out and it's JUST at that "loud enough but really could be louder" volume. On other tracks (recorded "hotter" it seems), it's fine, and I can actually turn them down a few ticks. All in all, though, if this was the only issue I'd be pretty happy with them.
Here's the bigger issue, though. They don't seem to play well with others. If I'm wearing them around the house, I get very few dropouts. Maybe one quarter second dropout every 5 or 10 minutes - which is tolerable, I think. But if I wear these around other Bluetooth devices, they stutter all the time. I figured I'd field test this by walking through Costco this past weekend. It was unbearable. Any time I got closer than a few feet from other people (presumably with cell phones) the earbuds would cut out multiple times a minute. Passing through a crowd, they went nuts. More importantly, this interference issue also keeps me from using them for my primary intended purpose. I wanted to wear them running (I'm getting to really hate my earbud cord when I run), but I'm also wearing a wireless/Bluetooth heart rate monitor (Wahoo Tickr Run), and they just don't work well together. When listening to music, the earbuds constantly skips. I've tested the HRM with the Bluetooth receiver in my car, and it works fine, so it's definitely these earbuds and not the HRM or HRM's phone app.
So, if you think you don't need the extra volume, and don't use them much around other Bluetooth devices, they're great. But the ones I bought (maybe a lemon, I don't know) just don't cut it. I'm pretty sure I'll return them.

Good for a week
Posted by: nicejob123 from: on
They're great earbuds. For the time they lasted. They went about maybe a week before the light stopped showing when it was plugged in and the battery wouldn't charge when it was plugged in. Tested with several different cords and outlets, different usb ports, nothing. Time to use it for the last 5 minutes I have with them.

Good Product For Under $100
Posted by: TheDeadWalk13 from: on
Between a sale and rewards certificates, I snagged a pair of these for about $35. So far, so good. They are lightweight enough that I often forget the are there. The earbuds stay in my ear, they sound good, and I haven't had any issues with them cutting out.

Not made for exercising
Posted by: TChewy from: on
I really wanted to love these headphones. The fit was great and the sound was awesome, however, after 30 minutes in the gym, I can't use them anymore. I guess these weren't really built for sweat. The module that controls volume and power got messed up from just a bit of sweat. The volume turned itself all the way up and I can no longer turn the power off. Seems like this should be something that's accounted for in these newer headsets now but isn't. Sad to say I'll have to try something else.

Birthday present for 14 year old. Mainly used to listen to music and other streaming on her iphone 5. Battery life is excellent as well as comfortable. Sound quality vs all of her previous earbuds is substantially better !

On/off doesn't work
Posted by: Sergio from: on
I don't recommend. After one month, the main function button (skull button), which powers it on/off, doesn't work anymore so now it is useless.

Excellent Quality Exceptional Price
Posted by: Panda from: on
They are very good in my opinion. The only time I have problems is if I'm carrying something metal or large(I am a blue collar worker) and it blocks my phone. Otherwise the sound quality is phenomenal, great bass, and excellent noise cancellation for a set of ear buds. I think they are great, the battery lasts way longer than skull candy says(I believe they say 8, but I've used them all day from 6am to 9-10 pm and they didn't die on me). Overall they are very good for the price you pay and can handle a little abuse as well.

Very Good Bluetooth for the Price
Posted by: PiddyPat from: Higdon, AL on
This Bluetooth Headset fits well into the ears. No problem with ear buds falling out of ears and comes with larger set of earbuds for the larger ear.
Something unique with this product from some of the other Bluetooth headsets that I has used is the fact that it can be worn with the hard shell neck piece which forms to the neck or can be worn just with the headset with just the wire and attached earbuds. This product has good sound quality and is in the lower price range from around $60. Some cons are the battery doesn't not last all day and when using the multifunction button with the iPhone, it will not fetch Siri. Which was a negative for me. But, over all this product is a great buy for the price.
