Fast lens great for photos and video Posted by: from: St. Joseph, MO on I always buy from Best Buy, but had to buy this one elsewhere since Best Buy hadn’t started carrying it yet. I have had it for about a 1½ months now and am very happy with the performance. This is the perfect lens if you buy the Sony NEX for its size. The lens is less than an inch thin so makes the camera seem a lot more stream lined than it does on with the 18-55mm kit lens. Sony also makes a fisheye adapter for this lens so to add a fresh perspective to video or photos. Photos: Also it is quite a bit faster than the kit lens at f/2.8 so low lit shots are no problem. Very sharp even around the edges. Makes the panorama mode look even better. Produces no noticable noise in the photo. Video: The fixed lens is great for video, and the auto focus works during video. Best of the 3 lenses Sony makes for the NEX when it comes to video Downfalls: Hard to find filters for it, but same size as all other e-mount lens (49mm)… and that’s about it. Overall great lens that isn’t expensive Dear Best Buy, Please start carrying the 18-200mm lens for the NEX!

Good little lens Posted by: from: Portland, ME on Love this little lens for doing quick out and about shots. Remember that the focal equivalent on a 35mm puts this in the low 20s, so if your looking for a super wide angle either look elsewhere or pick up the high-def adapter that Sony makes for this lens. For quick and dirty wide angles, this works well in panoramic mode on my NEX-6. It doesn't feel as solid is some of Sony's other prime E-Mount lenses, but it doesn't feel as cheap as the Sigma lenses that are also popular for the NEX series. Significantly faster than the kit lenses too. All in all a great, relatively low priced lens that's always in my camera bag.

Go wide or go home Posted by: from: Portland, OR on A lot of photographic knowledge goes into claiming "50mm is the standard field of view." I call bull! This 16mm lens (24mm in full-frame/35mm film world) is how I like to see the world - wide! It's a prime lens so it's sharper than any zoom. Some people say it's soft in the corners, but I say 'meh.' I've owned $1700 Canon L lenses that are soft in the corners! Stop it down a bit and go out and use this lens - enjoy the perspective. This is a great lens for exploring a new field of view with your Sony APC sensor camera. A great fit for my silver Sony a6000.

Not what I needed Posted by: from: on This lens did not work any better than the lens that came with my camera as far as shooting in wide-angle I ended up taking it back and buying a much more expensive wide angle lens.

Decent Wide Angle Lens Posted by: from: on I use this lens to take landscape photos on my Sony A6000. The lens does indeed take wide shots and I would say it's pretty crisp. I'm not an expert on photography so I can give a simpleton review. However I would definitely not use this for simple street photography because the lens will make objects seem small. Unless you're trying to achieve that look then go ahead. Though I feel as if the Ultra Wide Angle Converter is almost necessary to obtain an even cleaner, sharper photo look. Also if you want to take selfies, this is the lens for you! Using this lens on the A6000 does make the camera look like a point and shoot therefore giving a compact look! The quality is pretty good and I expect it to last until I will get my next camera.

Great wide angle lense Posted by: from: on This lense is a nice prime lense for shooting wide angle in low light. I purchased it to have on my trip to Arizona to capture incredible sunsets. It did the job!

Great Lens for a great camera Posted by: from: on I can't say enough about my Sony A6000. I love it and would recommend it to anybody. I bought this lens because I like to shoot more on the wide angle side, but needed something faster than the kit lens. I wanted wide angle without having to spend almost $800 for the wider angle zoom lens. I bought this lens to go along with the Ultra Wide Converter (VCL-ECU2), which gives make the lens the equivalent of about 15mm. For me, this was perfect. It's a fixed, and while I would like a zoom lens, this pushes me to be more creative and move around to get the photo I want. I really have no complaints and think the quality and price is great.

Great for Low Light and Landscapes Posted by: from: Wisconsin on This lightweight lens has a sturdy construction and works great for Landscapes or for shooting in low light conditions. The image quality is clear and bright but softness and fringing occurs when shooting at f/2.8. Also it's so thin that I find it difficult to get a good grip while detaching it from the camera but once it detaches it can easily fit in a pocket.
