I was looking at soundbars and stumbled across Best Buy's website. I didn't have a lot of money to spend but still wanted something nice. I saw the HT-XT2 and was a little sceptical at first about the built in subwoofer. I like a lot of bass and wasn't sure if it would provide... But with 170 watts and the outstanding performance of SONY products I decided to give it a shot. I ordered it around 2am on Wednsday and it was at my front door the next day at 2pm. Best free shipping I have ever had! I ripped open the box and plugged it in. It surpassed all my expectations! It is PLENTY loud, has crisp clean highs, boasting mid range, and bass you can feel. I would definitely recommend it.

Much better than the tv's internal speakers!
Posted by: Luvnewgear from: on
I purchased this sound base along with a 55" Sony 4K tv. The tv's pedestal stand fit nicely on top of the speaker. Also, the hdmi arc communicated perfectly between the two right out of the box. After a combination of mixed usage between video games, music, movies, and satellite tv, I'm pretty impressed with this sound base. There are several preselected sound modes, but I just keep it on standard. The highs are crisp and clear, the voices are easily intelligible, and the bass is decent enough for my bedroom viewing. It is definitely a big improvement from the tv's internal speakers. It also has a digital front panel display, feels well built and is aesthetically pleasing. It will not replace a true surround sound system, but for a bedroom it fits the bill nicely.

Let me start with I bought the sony htxt1(last year's model) and I noticed the htxt2 came out so I bought it also to compare. I played the same set of songs and hands down the htxt1 is a true winner. With great bass (2 subs) and clean loud sound. The htxt2 has only 1 sub and it has poor bass and the other speakers are underpowered and sounds like you are in a hall. Plus you have to turn the htxt2 up almost all the way to 50 match the sound level of the the htxt1 at 25 half volume!
- quality casing
- under powered sub
- only 1 sub (htxt1 has 2)
- mediocre front speaker sound
- tinny and sounds like you are in a hall
- have to turn it up almost max to fill the room.
Dont mess with the htxt2, buy the HT-XT1

Great product but be careful with HDMI connections
Posted by: Motechie from: on
I purchased sound bar tbefore Christmas o accompany a new Sony 4k flat panel TV. The package has been terrific. The only glitch is the sound bar just this week stopped receiving audio output from the TV. After some trouble shooting with the Sony service tech, we discovered the problem was due to the HDMI connections. After unplugging the TV and the sound bar and also disconnecting the sound bar from the TV, and then reconnecting and re-starting the devices, the sound bar worked perfectly. The Sony tech indicates that HDMI connections can be interrupted by static or power outages, but this can be remedied by (1) unplugging and disconnecting the TV and the sound bar, (2) waiting several seconds, (3) re-connecting the devices, and (4) re-start. This basically resets the system. I am very happy to have these new Sony products and am grateful for the expert service from the Sony tech support.

Excellent product. It is loud, quick, a great speaker for the TV. Its better than my other sony sound bar with a subwoofer. This one does the same as my other one and sounds better. I was skeptical about the built in subwoofer but it sounds great. It comes with built in google cast but only for music. I wish it could stream videos to the TV as well. I recommend to anyone.

East setup once figured Digital Optical cable
Posted by: BigEdofSA from: on
Connected it today with my 22 yr old son, took 45 minutes because instruction book is for HDMI cable. Remember, for Dig Opt cable, you have to set TV for "external speakers". This is a Sony TV with a Sony soundbar; once connected Dig Opt cable to "powered on" soundbar and then "powered on" TV- the soundbar functioned. The TV found the soundbar. Make sure to turn soundbar volume UP, we initially had volume to low and thought product was defective. Purchased this product because TV speakers were inadequate. This product suits our purpose- 10 by 10 ft room now has great sound and NO external speakers. We now have 2 remotes- soundbar remote to power on and volume control and 2nd remote does other functions for TV viewing

Excellent sound stand

I went through 3 other types of sounds bars and never liked the sound quality. This one was a keeper when downgrading to a smaller room.

Clear, crisp sound is amazing
Posted by: DZNUTZ from: Los Angeles on
I'm easily amused when it comes to technology....amazed at how far and fast we've progressed within the last 10 years to the point where I can't keep up. I purchased this sound bar and couldn't believe how amazing every sound generated was. My apartment is quite intimate, so now when I turn on my television, I feel like I'm at a movie theatre.

Good speaker for a smaller room.
Posted by: andrew0122 from: on
This speaker says it's intended for a 40" + TV. I am personally using it in my bedroom for a 32". I like high quality sound, and I like that it is in a small form factor that sits perfectly under my TV.

Perfect match to my Bravio
Posted by: Busyliving from: on
So after buying a 65 inch Bravio and not really noticing the sound quality I read some reviews on sound bars. This one was a great match and I couldn't be happier. I did have an issue where the audio stopped working. See "Motechie's" review about the simple fix to this glitch. And thank you to them for including it on how to fix the problem. When the Soundbar was not working for an hour or so, I really appreciated this product. Great price for everything I needed. Cheer So!
