This Sony BDP-S6700 Blu-ray player with 4K upscaling has built-in super Wi-Fi through MIMO. This lets you stream live from online services. Built-in Bluetooth and SongPal Link stream movies and music or connect your devices through HDMI, coaxial output, USB or Ethernet. This Sony Blu-ray player with 4K upscaling also offers child lock and parental controls.

I would say that this is the best bluray player in market now. I have SAMSUNG BDJ-7500 & SONY BDP-S7200. Sony players are know to have freezing issues with Amazon Video and also takes about 2 minutes to get full HD. But this player is not so. No more freezing at all. Takes around 30 seconds to get full HD. Improved in every aspect. I use VUDU & NETLFIX also and the quality is very good compared to my other Samsung & Sony players. It is highly recommended to all.

Near 4K up convert BlueRay, HD up convert old DVDs
Posted by: TechBuck from: on
Latest greatest Sony BlueRay player with wi-fi has all the latest content protection, and has plenty of streaming movie and content applications. Starts quick, reads discs quick, and works seamlessly with other Sony components. Until Sony comes out with a native 4K BlueRay player, the BDP-S6700 is the best Sony BD player out there and it can up convert 1080P BD to near 4K output, and can up convert the older 1080i DVDs to 1080P output.... Can update its firmware and apps. Very good gear so far - I have it paired with a Sony XBR65X930D 4K tv and a Sony STR-DN1070 AVR.
BestBuy ran out on line and recently took the item off the website....need to get back in stock on this excellent up scaling BD player! This player will make the best up convert possible for your old BlueRays and DVD content. Both look great on a 4K tv.
Negatives: only HDMI, optical, and coax...no component out.
App access has gone down on this unit a few times now, while same apps on the connected Sony tv were working fine...small bugs to work out of this new release gear.

Best player on the market.

I've been searching for a new Blu-Ray player to include 3D and 4K ability for some time. Aside from the remote I have absolutely no complaints with this player so far. Picture is crystal clear and set up was a breeze ( make sure you upload latest software ). Still experimenting with the features and apps. Best hidden feature is the Bluetooth function to allow you to pair with headphones. Particularly when it's late at night and family is trying to sleep. Simulated 3D also better then expected but works much better with Blu-Ray than standard DVD. Was also looking for smaller player to place on top of cabinet rather than in cabinet to save space for other devices and this worked like a charm. Only complaint is that remote does not light up but otherwise no issues. Looked at more expensive players and just don't see the rationale on these players. You won't be disappointed with this player.

It's a good Up-Scalling Blu- Ray Player
Posted by: Recon1221 from: on
Set up was super easy.
#1 Linked the Built In Wifi to my wireless net work
#2 Upgraded the Firmware Wirelessly
#3 Connected the BLU-Ray Player to my 4-K Sony TV
#4 1080-P Blu Rays were Upgraded to 4-K
#5 Regular DVDs were Upgraded to 1080 at 24 frames per Second
#6 Connected my Pandora account to the Blu-Ray player.
It all works. If you keep all of your components the same : TV, Sound Bar, and Blu Ray player the same everything will work Perfectly.
I am happy with my purchase.

I bought this blue ray player to replace my worn out Wii I had been using in my bedroom for streaming Netflix and Amazon. First, it took me all of 10 minutes to set it up, connect with wifi and complete an update. I never had to look at the directions - you just attach to your tv with an HDMI cable (not included) and plug in the power adapter.
Second, the picture! Super sharp clarity! I didn't know my old Sylvania tv was capable of such a fantastic picture!
DVD, Amazon and Netflix all work great. I've been playing around with it for a few hours and so far I'm very impressed. Awesome value and very easy to use. I like that the remote has a Netflix button, which will make it easy for the kids to turn on. I love it!

We purchased this to do with our Sony 4K and ULTRA HD with HDR TV. It has a beautiful picture and we especially like you can use the DVD player to play movies/photos on a USB. Definitely worth what we paid for it.

Another very bad product from Sony
Posted by: Frustated from: Georgetown TX on
I have owned the unit for about 3 weeks. Waited too long and can not return. I have spent 2 days emails back and forth to Sony support. Issues are several of the apps will not load. Sony Essentials site only lists 5 of 35 available. Sony told me to use that site to link apps? that do not show on the site (they do show on the device, just come back with error.) So Sony's site is bad, the unit is bad and no help. The support replies were evasive and like trying to talk to a very immature child. No knowledge was obvious. I bought this unit because I own two other Sony Blue Ray older models which Discontinued You Tube accessibility. NOW Note this new one comes with Playstation app but Sony is scheduled to DISCONTINUE that one per Sony site. So let see, Over Boast Features, sell items with features that Do Not Work or Discontinue Features and offer No Support or answers. And have a site to manage the devices ( Sony Essentials) that is extremely flawed which was seemingly admited by support (not sure do to the evasive hard to follow vague answers). Further the box claimed some stupid number of 300 + apps available. It has maybe 25% of the claimed number. Insane and I am now out $120 for another sorry excuse of a product and company. I hope I Iearned this time to never bUy Sony again. Note no offer was ever given to pursue warranty or a fix. Just an apology from support that no ETA exists but maybe someday a software update might fix. Really?
I want mention Best Buy simply sold me the product and are not at fault. Return policy should be more than 15 days. It was two weeks before I realized my error in purchasing this unit and now I must try to resolve with uncooperative Sony. I will not resolve. I will take my loss and never buy Sony again as I am not going to pay to send it to who knows where to likely not be fixed.

This up-scaling Blu-Ray works perfectly with my 55 Inch XBR55x850-D
It up-scaled Blu-Ray movies to 4-K and DVD's to 1080 quality.
Technically the unit can also play 3-D movies but since my TV does not have the capacity to show 3-D, I can not disclose the quality of the 3-D.
I would recommend this to a friend.

Good blue ray player
Posted by: fuller69 from: on
I spent alot of time reading reviews before i made this purchase. I am still happy with my purchase. i am also disappointed. one of my main reasons for the purchase was that it stated that it had the capability of blue tooth. i thought i could link it to my smartphone (samsung galaxy S7). Needless to say it will not link. sometimes the unit does freeze up. these two things kept me from giving it more than 3 stars. i still would recommend this item. For the price, it has great streaming capabilities via wi-fi or ethernet.
