Not great for 4K video
Posted by: AlexLA from: on
If you are shooting stills, this might be good value for money, but if you are shooting 4K video, look elsewhere, as the distortion correction does not work at this higher resolution, hence the image you will get looks horribly distorted.

Great replacement for my kit lens.

I was getting tired of my standard kit lens that came with my a6000 so I decided to step up. This was the perfect lens for me as it came at a more affordable price and offered the features I wanted. Like a larger zoom and better aperture. The lens is a little on the large side but the pros out weigh the cons. Brighter more detailed pictures is a definite plus. would recommend for the price for amateur photographers to pro.

I bought this lens after wanting some more reach with my a6000. I sold my kit lens (16-50) and now this is my on the go lens! It is quite large especially on the crop sensor cameras but it's a fantastic lens. The constant f4 is great but the ability to shoot close to sunset drops off because of the lack of light and the aperture. Finally, this lens was incredibly hard to get. It wasn't available for months before Best Buy and Amazon finally restocked and I pulled the trigger. If you want it and it's available jump on it.

Awesome All-Around Lens!

I purchased this to go with my Sony A6500, it was used briefly with the A6300 camera and it did not disappoint. Took sharp pictures and it's a great walkabout lens.

Good lens for video
Posted by: GreenFlash from: on
The good things about this lens are that it's well built, it has an electronic zoom, so that you can zoom much more smoothly during a video clip, it has a nice zoom range up to 105 mm that gives quite a bit more zoom than a standard zoom. And it's priced reasonably. Contrary to some measurement site reports, in my experience, this lens is not as sharp as the Sony Zeiss F4 16-70., and not quite as sharp as the Sony 18-200 3.5 to 6.3(the silver one). But check out the fish pix I took with it while at the aquarium with my daughter, using this lens on an A6300. And keep in mind, that for video, you are not looking for 24 megapixels of photographic sharpness. 1929x 1080 (high definition) is closer to 2 megapixels, and even 4 k is only 8 mp. so, if using with an NEX or A6000 series primarily for video it's a great choice.

Love this lens!

Needed a better lens to match my Camera (Sony A6300). I had a kit lens and a 55-200 zoom. But I love how versatile this lens is. I use my camera and lens as my jump out of my news truck to capture breaking news quickly. Both stills and video. Adds quite a bit of weight to the entire camera but the end results are amazing. The difference between this lens and a kit lens will truly show in your pictures.
