great controller for a great price.

This controller is very efficient. For someone needing a controller for their games on the computer this is great. It works for both Mac & PC making gaming universal for those like me, with a Mac running VMWare. The only problem I have run into is not being able to easily use a controller with games. When on steam for example, I have to download JoyToKey to get it to work and I haven't found a great configuration yet for games like Castle Crashers. Other than that, this controller is amazing. It also has a rumble feature which is amazing. Definitely great for any gamer. My friends have said this is their favorite and dream brand of controller to own. It's amazing overall.

Cheap PC controller that requires some TLC

Its not a bad device for what it is. However, it feels like for what its being marketed as it really drops the ball. By default, the right analog is disabled making the computer only recognize the input as another d-pad. This is easy enough to fix by pressing the mode button in the middle of the controller, but why this was an option in the first place is puzzling. In addition, documentation stating this was an option would have been nice too. Also, its not recognized as a windows controller even after installing the drivers and completely useless manager program from SteelSeries support site. So if you want to play anything like Borderlands 2, Grid, Call of Duty, or any big blockbuster game you have to use a mapping program like xpadder for each game separately. Although it may be more expensive, I would highly recommend purchasing a wireless receiver from Microsoft instead so you can just use a wireless xbox 360 controller without all the hassle. Or if you can find any still, plug and play usb xbox 360 controllers will work as well.

Can't get it to work and it's unsupported.

This controller definitely is not plug and play on a PC like I've had with 2 other controllers - a logitech and a wired xbox 360 controller. My wife and I both play games on PC through Steam and emulators. We got tired of using keyboard/mice and had gift certificates to BB for Christmas. We bought this controller and a Logitech. The Logitech worked instantly on my PC playing Skyirm. My wife tried using this Steel Series controller on an emulator and it sort of worked. I tried it on my PC and found that the Steel Series website doesn't even list it or any other PC controller. To find the driver, you have to do an internet search. The driver is from 2009. So needless to say, I think Steel Series is phasing this controller out.
I just tried using a wired Xbox 360 controller and as soon as I plugged it in, my wife's Windows 7 PC installed the driver and it worked flawlessly on Fall Out New Vegas.
In summary, I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but even after installing the driver a few times for this controller, I can't get it to work as easily as a Logitech or wired Xbox 360 controller. I would recommend going with either of those 2 options if you're in the market for a PC controller.

Decent and Average

for it's price, it is worth it. It is designed with the playstation 2 controller in mind. What I disliked about it is that it is not compatible with certain games that I used other controllers for. For example I have been playing Fallout 4 with never any controller issues and I used many different controllers to play Fallout before, but this controller is not recognized by Fallout 4. There are multiple other games with the same issue but overall it works great for the games that it does work for, so for the price it is a good buy, or you can save up a little more and get a better one.

DO NOT WAST ANY $ ON THIS
Posted by: DocZero21 from: on
First, this is the only product that has ever motivated me to write a review, it was that bad an experience.
I purchased this product to play Titanfall on a PC. It is advertised as Plug and Play. I plugged it in nothing happened other than "driver installed" message. I opened Titanfall & tried to play with the controller. Nothing happened. the PC and game did not recognize ANY controller commands. I went on line, updated drivers - still NOTHING worked after the driver update. I loaded several freeware tools to enable controllers, still nothing. After 3hrs decided to give up and return the product. YOU SHOULD NOT purchase tis product at all.
You will invest hours of your time and have no time to play your game.

Decent quality but..

Not Windows 8 compatible. At all. Tried downloading some other software to basically hack the controller driver, it makes it even more difficult to play games via Steam. You windows 7 users are lucky.

Wow... It's a really nice Gaming pad for when you need a USB input.
It has all the buttons you need to get through any game also.

I did not know that the item was not compatible with windows 10 after I updated my computer. It was 2 days pass the return policy and I could no longer return.

I bought this to use with my MacMini to play Elder Scrolls Online. I love the 12 action buttons feature.
