I had the LG G Stylo for about a week excellent phone as well but i noticed that virgin mobile had the slower model with 1gb of ram which was not really as good to navigate as i use my phone for data mostly so i came across this phone and did my research and was very pleased with its specs i purchased the phone yesterday and the performance is top notch i recommended to anyone to buy this phone even though the camera is 5mp which i think should have been 8mp rear camera its still a best buy.

Only 16gb phone for > $200
Posted by: Tlaw from: on
Bottom line is that it's below $200 and comes with 16gb internal storage and 1.5gb ram. The quad core 1.2ghz snapdragon ought to be called the Android standard transmission because it's the most common processor low end phones. Needless to say moving through screens is very speedy. TouchWiz has really shrank and become pretty quick. 10gb of the internal storage is available to the user for app storage and the device supports 128gb sd card for your media. Now whats unique about the J3 is that in comes with MS OFFICE partially pre-installed. By that I mean MS Word is all the way installed and takes up 200mb, the remaing 5 office icons take up no internal storage unless they are updated through the play store. You can disable them all if you have no need for office. Whats Awesome is that many Amazon services are pre-installed, including the Amazon app store, music and Instant video which is great for amazon prime members. Even if your not a prime member you can rent new releases for $3 to $5. The device works great with Chromecast and the FireTv stick. So there is very little to complain about other than the Samsung bloatware which is minimal in this iteration. It's a 5 inch screen so it fits perfectly in the pocket. I tested 4 high end games and they all played with minimal frame drop.

best Virgin Wireless phone available right now
Posted by: superdavefive from: on
My last two Virgin Wireless phones were LG brand and I was looking for something with similar battery life. I was also looking to upgrade to 16 GB on board memory. This phone meets both of those criteria. I was also pleased to find out that this phone comes with Microsoft Office Mobile Edition (which is great for opening up word and excel attachments in my work e-mails.) On my old phones I had to "open as a web page" which did not always allow me to filter or modify the document. I can also plug in my phone to import/ export from Microsoft Office. The signal strength is excellent and the WiFi reception seems to be better than any of my prior phones. This is my first Samsung phone and certainly not my last. Bravo!

My first Samsung Galaxy - really like it!
Posted by: RoseM from: on
My old (3-4 yrs old) Virgin Mobile LG something or other became virtually unusable so I broke down and got the Samsung Galaxy J3 last Saturday on sale. It makes my old LG look like a "dumb" phone. I really like it so far, it's fast, easy to use - it's almost like a mini tablet. Can't beat the features for the price!

Upgrading from LG Tribute. The phone performs great. The phone runs smoothly and quick. There are lots of storage for apps. After all the mandatory apps from Samsung and virgin mobile. There is about 10GB remaining. There is also the ability to move the apps to SD which is located in the app manager through the settings. I do recommend a case and screen protector as the phone itself does not look like it can take a beating from daily use.

I almost didn't buy this for my daughter's birthday. She was fine with the phone she already had (an LG Volt) and I wondered, why buy a new one if she's happy with what she's got? I'm kind of in the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" line of thinking when I see people ditching their (still working) "old" phones that they've only had for a year or two for the latest, newer upgrade. It may not make sense to me, but I admit I'm an old fogey when it comes to this stuff. But I put aside my old fogey-ness and did some research trying to find a good quality upgrade, no contract phone for my daughter anyway. I was thinking of getting her the LG Volt 2 (seemed logical), but opted for the Samsung Galaxy J3 instead. It has 16GB internal memory plus micro SD slot compared to 8GB for Volt 2. And the slightly more favorable reviews the J3 receives here and on other sites helped me decide as well. The camera on the J3 is 5MP compared to 8MP on the Volt and Volt 2. I don't think this is much of an issue with my daughter since she's not much of a selfie/photo fanatic. The 5" touch screen display is nice, battery life is very good, runs smooth and quick and overall, my daughter gives her new phone a thumbs up. I guess I'm 2 for 2. I bought my youngest daughter a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime for her birthday last September and she loves it too! Not bad for an old fogey if I do say so myself!

Great phone, good features
Posted by: Thomas from: on
I had this phone for 2 weeks. I use this phone for our business. While playing a phone ap I watched as half of the screen turned black.
. I went to the Best Buy store where I purchased it only to be told that since I did not purchase an extended warranty Best Buy would do NOTHING and I must deal with Samsung. I called Samsung and after 45 minutes was able to talk w/ an English speaking person they said they would forward an address for returning it. They added that they would only do something about it it they determined it was defective. After waiting a week with no email response from Samsung, I went to Best Buy, explained the series of events( no sympathy or compensation offered) I bought another phone. along with a service contract. When getting this phone. the Best Buy rep said that BB no longer transfers phone numbers or other data on no-contract phones as BB doesn't make enough money on them to make it worth their time. I explained that I use this phone for our business and since this was the 2nd phone I had purchased in two weeks, he did 'cave' and did transfer our data.
There have been a few problems with the LG as well but the reps did assist. In the end, I will NEVER buy anything Samsung again and will seriously look at purchases from other brick and mortar businesses for my electronics purchases. The fact that I can return things with no questions asked on Amazon as well as locally operated brick and mortar stores holds more and more appeal.

Caution! No notification LED
Posted by: DullRazr from: on
Purchased this to replace my failing Galaxy S3. It wasn't huge like some of the other current phones and was a definite step up from the S3. I thought it was a great phone until I discovered it had no LED light to indicate an incoming message, missed call or other notifications. Since I spend a lot of time in places where the ringer has to be turned off, this is a serious shortcoming. Had to return it for a J7. Sad that I have to spend an extra $100 just to get a phone with a 59-cent LED on the front of the phone.
