Excellent disposal, easy to install
Posted by: BopnNatsDad from: Concord, NC on
This disposal was easy to install and had easy to understand/easy to follow directions. It was more difficult getting my old disposal out than putting this one in. The most time consuming part was attaching the house hardwire to the unit, since in comes with a preinstalled power cord. Other than that, no problems.

Not my first probably not my last disposal install
Posted by: SeanInTigard from: Tigard Oregon on
Price: Was a little more than a few other brands with similar specs.
Install: Easy even for a beginner just read the docs closely.
I found the install process predictable except for a few things. It mentions you need the "fiber seal" to be placed between the lower assembly and the sink yet no seal is included. If you read further you will see that they want you to use the rubber seal provided that would normally be used as a top seal for a metal sink. In my case I have a composite sink and used plumbers putty ( not included ) I had to cut the provided elbow but I expect this is also normal though not clearly mentioned in the docs ( they do mention you need a saw ).
Seems well built but we shall see. My KitchenAid lasted 12 years with a few leaking issues over that time when it finnaly died due to my own stupidity using a plunger on my sink to clear a clog and blew out the gasket. ( don't do it man!!!! )
Um ya its a disposal not a car : )
Quieter than my last unit a kitchen aid Kadet 250 1/2 HP.
Seems to grind well but does take a little longer to work but seems to grind to a finer level probably a lot better for the drain.
Drainage is very good even while grinding.

Works great, quiet
Posted by: CALiz from: Los Angeles on
This was the best value on Consumer Reports and we feel it's a great buy. The 3/4 HP is powerful and the grinding mechanism is fast & relatively quiet. Our plumber said to run warm to hot water and lots of it every time we use it to keep our pipes clear. The inner area is stainless which shouldn't corrode.

Waste King the finest name
Posted by: unclePauly from: on
She purrs like a kitten. Best warranty of any competitor including in sink erator. Waste king is the finest name and the only disposers I will ever own. Made in USA (California) and beats all the competition. This 3/4 is replacing a 1/3 in sink erator that's only 6 years old but leaking and busted, cheap junk. Waste King, the best. And I'm just a homeowner, not affiliated with the company. I just acknowledge and respect quality.

I did the install myself. The directions were very clear and easy to read. The unit fit perfect and is much quieter than the unit I had in before.

Definitely a difference

I thought all disposals were alike, I was mistaken. Quiet and powerful. Instructions were for a nuclear physicist, but I got thru it

Very Low Quality - Consumer Reports was paid off
Posted by: Gary561 from: Boca Raton, FL on
I purchased this unit largely based on Consumer Reports review and I usually trust them but they missed it this time. First I noticed that the rubber splash guard was torn but when ahead with installation hoping the wife would approve. Installation was a pain, due to poor design, And I have installed many disposals. After install I determined the splash guard would not make it. It is very cheap and even if replaced it would not last. Next, when turning it on it starts with a loud clank and then is noisy and seems unbalanced. The sink does not drain well and it does not grind very well at all - takes a long time. Mine may have been defective but I DO NOT RECOMMEND Waste King. I am taking out and taking it back.

Awesome, works great!

Did the research and located this on the shelf At our local store! This was quiet and works great. Install was a little tricky...due to our need to modify the power cord.

Is working great so far. The user manual says that is will grind bones, I'm sure it means small bones like chicken legs and such, but, I don't put bones or grease down the disposal. The installation instructions were "EXTREMELY" confusing. You begin reading instructions for the 3-Bolt install and then all of a sudden you're reading instructions for the Quick Mount install and the rest of the instructions for the 3-Bolt install is 2 or 3 pages over. That should really be changed. It would've confused Einstein. Other than that, I have no complaints. The instruction manual in the only reason I gave it a 4 star. If they had been easier to follow, I would've given it a 5 star definitely.
