Just started using our new microwave and so far I LOVE it! Didn't quite understand the convection process the first time I tried to bake a batch of cookies but they turned out ok and the 2nd batch was GREAT! AccuPop pops all the kernels. It's very quiet and the "done" chime is a nice change from the annoying beep.
I have NO COMPLAINTS.

OMG! AMAZING SILENCE!
Posted by: MKMIA from: Miami on
OMG! I wish I had done this sooner! I love this oven! I looked high and low for one that had the convection oven option. I purchased the double oven and wanted a third oven option for Thanksgiving. This one had it. I was stunned the first time I used it at how silent it is! You don't even hear it cooking OMG! It is worth what I paid for it for that feature only! MAKE SURE YOU GET THE RIGHT INSTALLATION COMPANY! DO NOT USE OPTIMA! THEY DRILLED TWO HOLES IN THE TOP AND BUTCHERED MY TOP CABINET WHICH IS OPEN AND I HAD COOK BOOKS AND KNIVES ON TOP. THEY DID NOT EVEN MAKE THE SCREWS FLUSH! THEY INSTALLED THIS RIGHT BEFORE JULY 4th AND SHOWED UP WAY BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT TIME AND RUSHED TO GET OUT! I DID NOT KNOW THERE WERE DIFFERENT INSTALLATION COMPANIES AND THOUGHT THEY WERE THE SAME COMPANY MY LOCAL STORE HAD. THIS I PURCHASED AT ANOTHER BEST BUY STORE THAT WAS LARGER. THEY USED OPTIMA. THEY WERE RUDE WHEN I CALLED TO COMPLAIN AND BLAMED ME FOR THEIR HORRIBLE INSTALLATION! BUYER BEWARE! USE CORY THEY WERE AMAZING WITH MY OVEN! I HAVE READ THE REVIEWS ON THE PRODUCTS AND MANY OF THE ISSUES I SAW WERE INSTALLATION RELATED! I HAVE ATTACHED THE OVEN I PURCHASED AS WELL. LOVE THEM BOTH! INSTALLATION ON THE OVEN WAS AMAZING UNLIKE THE MICROWAVE!

This microwave is quiet and full of features
Posted by: Velo2k from: Dallas, TX on
I purchased this OTR microwave as an upgrade to all stainless steel appliances in my kitchen. It looks fantastic! This microwave also is loaded with lots of features to automate common tasks such as reheating food, popping popcorn, softening/melting butter, and heating up common foods kids enjoy (chicken nuggets, frozen pizza, etc). It comes with a vegetable steamer bowl, turntable rack for stacking items when microwaving, and a rack for use with the convection oven feature. Yes, it doubles as a convection oven, which so far I have found is excellent for baking a small batch of fresh cookies without the worry of heating up the entire house. It also is extremely quiet (when using as a microwave). It is a considerably louder when used as a convection oven. I also feel awkward putting metal in during the convection cycles.
I would give this microwave 5 stars if not for a few minor annoyances:
1. The user manual has so little information in it that you really just have to push the buttons to learn how to use various features. Whirlpool offers the same manual online with no additional use information. I would have loved a "tips & tricks" guide that gives suggestions for best results and possibly even a recipe or two.
2. The "food is ready" or "timer done" tones are fairly soft and could be hard to hear in loud environments or by someone with a hearing difficulty. What I believe is the volume adjustment is already at the max setting. At least the tones used are pleasant-sounding (think flight attendant call chime on a plane).
Overall, I'm very happy with the performance, features, and style of this OTR microwave.

Great Sensing Feature and Options
Posted by: Dave from: on
An electrical surge took out GE Profile microwave so had to replace it. After looking at many of the latest models, we chose the Whirlpool for it's large 1.9 cu. ft. size and the addition of the convection feature. For a little more money, this turned out to be a really convenient option as it gives us an extra oven for baking, etc. The sensing feature is very nice as well, allowing you to reheat your dinner plate, beverage, casserole, etc. and determining time automatically. It does a very good job of heating, but not overheating. Much better than the "try 30 seconds, try another 30 seconds" method. The only slight negative (for some) is that the door is quite large and swings wide when you open it. This is probably because most microwaves have the control panel to the right of the door handle while this one integrates it into the door itself, allowing the door to span the full width of the unit. Not a big deal, but noticeable if you are upgrading from the more conventional design.

So happy with this purchase!

Needed a new microwave and was browsing online when I came across convection microwaves. I researched them and decided to get a microwave with convection cooking and started looking on Best Buys website. I found this Whirlpool on sale and it got really good reviews and was a lot cheaper than the majority of them so I ordered it online.
I installed this unit myself and it was fairly easy. It comes with paper templates for marking holes. The hardest part was measuring the location for the metal bracket which the microwave hangs on against the wall. This unit is much heavier than a standard microwave and feels very solid but I managed to install myself but 2 people would be ideal. One person to hold microwave and the other to screw in bolts on top that hang unit from cupboard.
This microwave is beautiful and the convection oven is fantastic. Its like we have 2 ovens now and honestly I haven't used my regular oven since I purchased this because it so convenient to use microwave for baking smaller things instead of heating up the house with our standard oven. People complained in previous reviews about not having good direction for convection buy honestly its really not needed. This unit walks you through all the steps. Simply press the convection button then it prompts you to choose which convection option. I always choose standard convection then it tell you to put in temp, it then lets you know its preheating and will notify you when its ready. So simple and its also very quiet which surprised me. We love this microwave and it will really come in handy during holidays or if we have a lot of cooking to do because now we have two ovens. One more thing is we did purchase the three year extended warranty just for peace of mind if something did go wrong. Best buy protection is great as they will refund or return the product if anything would happen.

I recently moved from a home to a condo and started to replace the appliances. I had put the $1000 model in my other home and loved it for all the features it had. In 8 years I did not use everything it had, so when I installed the new one in the condo, I thought to downgrade to this $500 model that does everything the $1000 model does except it does not have as many pre-programed settings. I find this model to be just as good without all those presets.

Bought in October 2014. Died December 2015. The previous Whirlpool microwave this unit replaced was 10 years old and carried a 5 year warranty on the magnetron. Imagine my dismay to find out this unit carried only a 1 year warranty on the magnetron. So 2 months past warranty expiration I'm left with a dead unit. I performed elementary troubleshooting. The unit has a fuse on the 120 Volt input. But the unit must be disassembled to gain access to the fuse. So what SHOULD be a five minute job turned into an hour and a half. The fuse wasn't the problem - replacement fuses blew like popcorn. Fuse placement within the unit without regard for service considerations is a poor design.
To their credit, Whirlpool agreed to cover the cost of repairs if I would pay for labor. I agreed. A tech came out and looked at the unit . He said that he would have to order a bunch of parts and that he would be back in contact by the end of the week. Three weeks went by. There was no call from the tech; my messages on his voicemail generated no response. So a couple of days later I purchased a replacement from a competing manufacturer. No more Whirlpool purchases by me!
