Very Pleased so far

I must have read at least 80 reviews (this is NOT an exaggeration) including Consumers Reports comments and ratings of various makes and models of dishwashers and came to this conclusion: there is no dishwasher that makes everyone happy. Although there are certainly many people happy, there are far more that are disappointed. After throwing my hands up, I decided to purely go by repair record, and Whirlpool (the brand, not just this model) had the least amount of repairs, so I bought the Whirlpool model which I thought was the best value. I've had it a little over a month now, and compared to my 24 year old dishwasher-this baby's a dream. VERY quiet. I knew today's models were supposed to be quieter, but this was a very pleasant surprise-and it's not even rated as one of the quietest, but trust me, I will run it with my light sleeping wife snoozing 20 feet away and it does not disturb her. Dishes are cleaner than ever. With previous dishwashers I had a few glasses that for some reason always had water drops/film left on them-this model not only doesn't leave spots, it has cleaned the film off of these glasses. One complaint almost everyone had was their dishwasher didn't dry very well-well, except for the contour bottoms of coffee cups sitting straight up, everything is as dry as can be. Please note-I followed all the instructions on detergent and anti-spotting liquid, I presume some folks who have problems do not!
One last note- although the box my dishwasher came in was pristine, the back had 3 large dents in it. I noted it to my delivery driver and offered to keep it as long as it didn't leak. I was able to pound the dents out with a rubber hammer, and sure enough, no leaks, and was given a $100 rebate for keeping it. No one will ever see the dents, not even me.
I know I could have paid hundreds more (not counting the discount for damage) and not been one bit happier. GREAT VALUE. Please keep in mind, I've only had it for a month, but so far, I could not be more pleased.

Great dishwasher and American made
Posted by: MoeLarryCurly from: on
I am extremely happy with this dishwasher. It looks nice when installed, runs super quiet and does a good job getting the dishes clean. However, the dishes often have some water left on them after the dry cycle is complete. Usually its because of cups or tupperware that have a curved area that forms a pool. Its a common complaint with these new "energy efficient" dishwashers. No big deal, just wipe the wet ones off with a towel when you unload and put them way. The normal wash cycle (conserves water and electricity) is 3 hours (!!!) but you can select the 1 hour cycle that uses more water & electricity. The stainless steel tub should last far longer than a plastic tub and the silverware rack can be placed in either the door or the lower rack.
I installed it myself, just follow the directions, easy peasy. The dishwasher is positioned so the front of the door is flush with the counter top. This means the controls on the top of the door are hidden when the door is closed. Before closing the door, you select the cycle you want, select heat or no heat dry and press the Start button. So long as you close the door within 30 sec of pressing Start, the dishwasher will start on its own once the door closes. There is a small green LED on the front near the handle that indicates its running or has finished. We use the Cascade Platinum pacs they work great. It came with 2 samples of them.
Also bought the installation kit but ended up not using it and returning it because I only needed 1 part out of the kit. Picked up the one part I needed at HD instead.
The sales price seems to fluctuate month to month, we bought our just before Christmas. A month later the price is a tad higher than we paid so we got a good deal.

beware if you get geek squad to install
Posted by: Raleighgirl from: on
I bought this Whirlpool dishwasher and have been quite pleased with it so far but within a couple of months it wouldn't drain. Turned out just the drain line was kinked so nothing wrong with dishwasher but when inspecting the cause I noticed that the Geek Squad (I paid for installation) did not upgrade my water line to the stainless steel one I was required to buy and left my 17 year old plastic one in. This bothered me as recently a friends dishwasher leaked and left extensive damage to where all of their hardwoods had to be replaced. If I pay $150 for installation I expect them to upgrade my water line to the one I bought. I called to complain and got routed to a few different Best Buy folks last of which 'was looking into it' and would call me back. Never heard from them again-I am sure being I was no longer within the return period so they don't care. So-if you decide to buy the installation, assume they are doing the minimum and make sure you watch them so they are installing your entire kit. I for one will never hire geek squad for installation again.

3 months of use and already problems
Posted by: JJJ7 from: on
I've owned this for 3 months. I'm happy with the way it runs (very quiet) and cleans (no spots or leftover crumbs). The filter is easy to clean. I love the silverware holder fitting onto the door as it's such a space saver!
Unfortunately after only 2 months of use, the rollers (that smoothly rolls out the bottom rack) completely broke off. After 3 months of use, now it is leaking.
So I will try to get help from customer service and if they are helpful, then I will update my review. Overall I was pleased with it, but after having issues only a few months into use, now I'm concerned about the longevity.

Built to a price point

Overall this is a very good dishwasher, quiet and cleans great. When comparing to the out going Bosch unit you can see where whirlpool reduces cost to make it a decent buy. The lower kick plate is made from plastic and the inner draws use a simple less robust runner system.
Ultimately the unit still functions great and the components are similar to its premium brand kitchen aid brother.

Great dishwasher - very quiet

Love this dishwasher. Especially love the utensil tray in the door. It's super quiet. We have an open floor plan in our home, and it doesn't bother me when I'm in the living room while it is on. Cleans all dishes very well.

Purchased this dishwasher about a month ago to replace our 3 year old Samsung dishwasher that didn't wash or dry that great. Price was reasonable. So far this dishwasher has pretty been good. Only compliant is the drying of plastics. Tupperware is still fairly wet after a full wash and dry cycle. This apparently is a common issue of all the energy star/ saving dishwashers.

Dishwasher very quiet

Dishwasher fits old space very easily. Most everything easy to install but trying to connect water line, it was very tight access to reach wiring and water connection. Once connected no leaks on first try.
Dishwasher extremely quiet.

This is a beautiful dishwasher. Works well and is very quiet. I recommend the Best Buy installation. They had it working before they left, despite issues with previous setup. Having them take the old dishwasher made it hassle free.

Easy installation--I picked-up the appliance and installed it myself. Throughly cleans placed items. Quite operation. I would purchase again. Actually, I am...for my girlfriend's home.
