Cute, but probably not what you think it is.

This is a cute little low budget movie "musical" made in 1938 by Grand National Studios. The original title was "The Girl Says No." It is NOT the great 1949 MGM musical ("Words and Music") with Mickey Rooney and tons of other stars of the era. The later is based on the careers of Rogers and Hart. The former is about a bookie and a dime a dance girl who try to strike it rich on Broadway assisted by some former Gilbert and Sullivan performers. The G and S performers looked like they were comprised of fading vaudeville performers. YES, I bout this version by mistake; however, it was cute, diverting and not a total waste of time. Worth it for 5 bucks or less.
