Wrath of God: Avalanches
In this episode of the History Channel series Wrath of God, which explores different natural disasters through the ages, there is a look at the phenomenon of avalanches. The deadly avalanche of 1910 in the Cascade Mountains is just one of the many avalanches in history that has taken lives and caused destruction. That 1910 disaster caused two trains that were stuck in a pass of the mountains to be covered and buried alive, killing 96 people. Avalanches strike without warning, causing hikers, skiers, and other innocent people to be caught off-guard and buried, injured, or even killed. In an interview, gold miner Robert Morlang shares his story about the series of three avalanches he survived in 1985 and how he was saved inside a deep ravine by a search and rescue helicopter pilot. ~ Cecilia Cygnar, Rovi
