Long regarded as one of the best vocal groups to come out of Norfolk, Virginia in the 1960's, The Anglos are best known for their 1965 single on the Orbit Records tag InchIncenseInch b/w InchStepping Stone,Inch - the track InchIncenseInch became an early mod favorite in the UK. In 1967 the Anglos recorded the Northern Soul classic InchSince You've Been GoneInch which was nationally issued on the Scepter tag. The two recordings featured here were recorded in the late 1960's, slated to come out on the short lived Botanic tag but never released. These sides were produced by fellow Norfolk native Jerry InchSwamp DoggInch Williams and were recorded at 919 Sound Studios in Philadelphia. The track InchBroke Down Piece Of ManInch was written by Steve Cropper and Joe Shamwell, while InchFour Walls Of GloomInch was penned by producer Jerry InchSwamp DoggInch Williams. The resulting single, InchBroke Down Piece Of ManInch b/w InchFour Walls Of Gloom,Inch is presented here newly remastered from the original master tapes and finally made available in the digital domain.
