Normally, we would expect the trim kit to be used to install the microwave in a cutout space that would hide the sides. Your model, PEM31SFSS, is compatible with two trim kits, JX827SFSS and JX830SFSS. While those trim kits differ in their dimensions, they otherwise have a very similar design, so the other compatible trim kit may not be different enough in appearance for your needs.
