Yal Menfi is a reprise in dialectal Arabic of an old Kabyle exile song composed in the aftermath of the 1871 uprising and the final verdict the deportation to New Caledonia of most of the leaders. "Yal Menfi" (the exile or the banished) evokes the suffering endured by Algerian immigrants of all times. This song is a standard by Akli Yahiaten and a cover by Rachid Taha. Akli Yahiaten (born in 1933 in Aït-Mendes near Boghni (wilaya of Tizi-Ouzou) in Algeria, Akli Yahyaten is a singer of Kabyle expression.
