About This Item
Al Stewart - Live At Radio Bremen TV (Musikladen Extra November 7, 1979) - Al Stewart was born on September 5, 1945 in Greenock, a small town west of Glasgow. Music became the center of his life at an early age. He bought his first guitar from future Police guitarist Andy Summers, and King Crimson founder Robert Fripp gave him guitar lessons. - In 1967 Al released his first album InchBedsitter ImagesInch on CBS. With his fifth long player InchPast, Present & FutureInch the American market discovered the Scottish bard. Stewart combined historical and contemporary events in his lyrics, enriching them with quotations from film and literature. His references to Nostradamus caused a stir. Star producer Alan Parsons (Pink Floyd, Steve Harley...) took over Al Stewart's studio direction and produced with him the million-selling albums InchModern TimesInch, InchYear Of The CatInch and InchTime PassagesInch between 1975 and 1978. - These albums set the style for Stewart's later work, and so his 1979 Musikladen performance at Radio Bremen consists of tracks from these works. He appears here with several talented musicians such as Peter White (guitar), Robert Alpert (keyboards), Krysia Christianne (backing vocals) and drummer Harry Stinson (Leon Russell, Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond and many more), who later formed the AOR/melodic rock band Shot In The Dark and were signed to Robert Stigwood's RSO tag. To celebrate his 80th birthday in September 2025, Stewart (who has lived in Los Angeles for decades) is planning a farewell tour of the UK in October 2025. Album Tracks 1.
