Q: We have a Vizio smart tv that does not have bluetooth. We want to improve the sound with a wireless speaker. Can this device be plugged into the tv and then paired with a speaker?

A: I have an Avantree bluetooth transmitter. It's plugged into my Sony TV, but it would work as easily with a Vizio TV. I have a Vizio TV also, and it has similar sound outputs. My transmitter broadcasts to Bluetooth headphones, which is just a variety of speaker. Your bluetooth speaker is a receiver, and it should work. (My my receiver/transmitter is a different brand, but the principle is the same.) The reason I chose Avantree is it supports aptx, which is a low latency approach. I can watch TV without the sound being out of sync. I don't know anything about Aluratek, but I recommend you get something that's low latency.

Q: Can 2 people watch tv at the same time—one using Bluetooth headphones (hard of hearing) and the other listening through the built in tv speaker? In other words, if I plug in this device, will it cut the sound output through the tv speakers?

A: Yes.. You can hear the sound still coming thru your TV speakers and also with your BT headsets. If it is only you listening then turn the sound for your TV down. It not it will work both ways at the same time. I have had Aluratek transmitters for years and just upgrades to the new ABC53F because of my new smart TV.

Q: *1.) Does this device come with a transmitter and a receiver? 2.) Will this device transmit from the RCA jack subwoofer output of my receiver to the RCA jack input of a powered (SONY) Subwoofer. Range is less than 25 feet.

A: It is a single device that does either transmit or receive, but not at the same time. There is a switch on it that determines what mode it is in. You would need 2 of them to do what you are inquiring about, HOWEVER: there will be a noticeable delay when the signal is transmitted from your receiver to your subwoofer causing the subwoofer to be out of sync with the rest of your speakers. I would not recommend it for this purpose.

Q: Can the ABC53F stay connected to a power source?

A: Aluratek - Universal Bluetooth Audio Receiver and Transmitter uses the included USB cable for power, you can leave that plugged in to any USB compatible plug in. It has a built in battery for take it on the go capabilities. But yes you can leave it plugged into a power source.

A: You have to press the button. It'll also automatically shut off after awhile if a device isn't connected to it.

Q: I want to run an optical cable (that converts optical signal to a 3.5 jack) to a bluetooth transmitter like this, then pair this transmitter with a bluetooth speaker. I cant get it to auto pair with ANY BT speaker. Iphone yes, speakers no.

A: I have paired this device with my 2 bose BT headsets. If you have a smart tv - go to settings - sound - look for expert or advance setting - now look for Digital Output Audio Format - find selection PCM.. this will make it work with you head sets.

Q: Why have my headphones stop charging? Have charged them bofore and worked just fine. Went to charge them today and nothin. No red light or anything. Only had them 2 weeks. Check all connections and still nothing.

Bluetooth Transmitter
Quick connection to my Apple Airpods (5.0 Bluetooth). Very good range. Using the Optical Out from Spectrum TV Cable Box to the Aluratek 5.0 Bluetooth Dual TV Transmitter Optical Input, getting no latency when watching TV, with strong volume!

Some cool features but a little awkward to control
First, full disclosure about why I acquired the Aluratek model ABC53F Bluetooth audio receiver and transmitter. I already owned a Bluetooth transmitter, the TaoTronics TT-BA01. I need the transmitter for one purpose: to broadcast audio from my home theater receiver to my Bluetooth headphones when I want to watch a video without disturbing anyone in the house. The TaoTronics is a very basic transmitter that does the job, but had one major drawback: there was no easy way to connect with my paired headphones. The TaoTronics seemed to want to pair with every other Bluetooth device in the room first, so I had to shut down Bluetooth on my laptop and cell phone before it would connect with my headphones. Also, I had to go through a series of button-pushes before the devices would connect with each other. I hoped that the Aluratek, as a more advanced device, would be easier to pair and connect with my headphones. The picture of the Aluratek showed that this device was much larger than the TaoTronics and it looked like it would be easier to visually follow the process of connecting. I have included a picture that shows the Aluratek and TaoTronics devices side by side. Well, so much for hope. Just like with the TaoTronics device, you must use the Aluratek power button both for powering on the unit and for pairing. The length of time and number of button pushes are crucial in both cases for performing the correct function. With my headphones set to pairing mode (I had forgotten how to do that and had to look it up—it also involves the proper number of button pushes for the correct duration of time), the directions told me to first press and hold the Aluratek power button for three seconds. Next, I was to press the power button briefly twice. This was supposed to make the LED flash blue and make the transmitter automatically connect to my headphones, after which the LED should turn solid blue. Trying to follow this procedure, I heard no sound coming from my headphones but thought I heard something coming from the next room. Yep, my home theater was transmitting through the Aluratek to a Bluetooth-enabled alarm clock in my bedroom. Whoops, wrong device. I think I failed to put my headphones into pairing mode because I had did not hold in its power button for the required seven seconds to pair with a new device. (With different Bluetooth devices asking me for different numbers and durations of button pushes, how am I supposed to remember everything?) I tried again, and this time I was successful. Still, I considered this experiment a failure, because the pairing procedure was not any easier than with my current Bluetooth transmitter, and I had not avoided interference with other Bluetooth devices. Now, I must say that the Aluratek, in addition to working fine as a transmitter, also has some great features. It is capable of pairing simultaneously with two devices if you should want to. (My TaoTronics does not do that, although a more recent model does.) But I doubt that I’ll ever pair with two devices. One is hard enough. The Aluratek also can act as a receiver as well as a transmitter. This would allow me to, for example, stream music from my laptop or phone to my home theater receiver, which does not have Bluetooth. I might conceivably do this at some point. Also, the Aluratek comes with an amazing number of different cable connections: 3.5 mm, RCA-Y, and SPDIF optical. And all cables are included! That is a rarity in these times. The device also has a hefty antenna and works with Bluetooth 5, which allows for considerable transmission distances. (My TaoTronics model, in contrast, is only Bluetooth 2.1, although later models have more advanced Bluetooth.) So, if these cool extra features are important to you, I heartily recommend the Aluratek transmitter/receiver. For me, though, in the end I will probably stay with my much smaller footprint TaoTronics and pray that someday the people who design Bluetooth devices will realize that it is terribly inconvenient to have to use the power button for both powering on/off and pairing, and that it is difficult to remember how many times to push the button for how many seconds to do the right thing. Is it too much to ask to have a separate button for pairing? And wouldn’t it be great if a device as large as the Aluratek showed available Bluetooth devices on a screen so that you could select the device with which you want to pair?
