Runs fine but smell bad. Not sure how long does it take to get rid of that smell.

Thank you for taking the time to review our BVN650M1. I apologize for the issue you are facing with the unit. Since we are using ABS plastic and injection molding the plastics are heated by a certain amount to be able to be molded and is mostly where smell comes from and would not affect the performance of the unit specially when new and out of the box and will soon dissipate. If smell is only happening when UPS is turned on and the unit is not overheating, please reach out to an APCbySchneider support team directly to resolve the issue with the unit. We offer email and chat services through our support site and you may also contact us directly at 800-800-4272 option 4 or visit https://www.se.com/us/en/work/support/ and look for the chat icon available from 8AM-8PM EST.

They lie and say you can turn off the alarm that lets you know the power is out. This is the dumbest feature ever. I can tell the power is out by nothing electric working in my house. I do not need an annoying beep to remind me and rub it in. The instructions claim you can hold down the power for less than 2 seconds to turn off the alarm. Doing so also tends to turn off the UPC defeating the purpose of why I bought the device, to manage the brief 1-sec power glitches that reset my cable modem. So now I have a beep telling me the power went out, and still waiting 5 minutes for my router to re-boot. For this price why not have an alarm switch? All phones do.

Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. I am sorry to hear that you are unable to mute the unit. This unit would have the feature to mute it though. The unit offers a quick mute option by shortly pressing the power button for less than 2 seconds during an alarm. There is also the option to turn off the on battery alarm completely. With the UPS turned on, you can configure the on battery indicator modes by holding down the power button and waiting for the third beep. At the third beep, the power button will cycle red/green. Release the power button and its color will indicate the mode it is in. You can mute the on battery alarm permanently by pressing the power button so the mode selector is flashing red. Once the mode as been selected please wait 5 seconds for the settings to be saved to the UPS. If you are still running into issues muting the unit please reach out to an APCbySchneider for further assistance. We offer email and chat services through our support site. Although this APC power supply works fine as designed, I can't recommend it for protecting a computer, and I returned it. The labeling on the box is poor, and you don't realize until you open it that the battery is really not replaceable, and even worse it has no USB port to connect to a computer. Thus, it has no way of communicating with a computer and telling it when it needs to shut down. This makes it useless for protecting a PC. Maybe fine for other non PC devices, but don't buy for your PC or NAS.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about our unit. You are correct that the UPS doesn't have the data port on to connect your PC to trigger a graceful shutdown. The battery is however replaceable now. We have made a kit that will allow you to replace the internal battery on it. The part number is APCRBCV211. In regards to not having the PC port on it, I recommend checking out our BackUPS Pro line since it has more options for graceful shutdown.

Back ups does not have an automatic shutdown cable capability for a computer. If you are not home to shut down the system the battery could run out of power and the ensuing power loss could damage your computer or damage data. it does however have a USB charging port just where you don't needed under your desk! what a wonderful useless feature.

Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. I apologize that the BVN650M1 doesn't have the option to provide a graceful shutdown of the connected system. If you are looking for a model in a similar size that has that option you could check out the BN650M1 instead.

I'm really disappointed in this APC product. I bought it to protect my new Sony 8K TV and it kept giving beeps like the power was off but it was not...I got a replacement and it did the same thing.

Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. I am sorry to hear that you are having problem with our UPS. I would double check that the TV isn't pulling more power than the UPS supports. The BVN650M1 would support 360 watts of power connected to the UPS. Anything over that would overload the UPS and cause it to cut power to the connected equipment.

APC's batteries do not last as long as they used to. I'm finding that CyberPower is actually a better product.

Mine stopped working after less than a year. I bought the bigger one as well, but that one still works fine.
