The UBS works as expected, but it has this annoying beep when there's a power outage that cannot be silenced unless you keep pressing the power button on and off until power is restored.
Posted
The Back-UPS is able to temporarily mute user correctable alarms such as On Battery. During such alarms, a short press (less than 2 seconds) of the POWER button will temporarily mute the alarm until the condition has been reset. A short double beep will confirm that Quick Mute has been activated. Pressing the POWER button for more than 2 seconds will turn off the UPS. Other critical events such as Battery replacement and Charger notification can not be temporarily muted. The unit in these cases must be turned off.

I bought this for my home office as we are prone to several power outages due to storm. I currently only have my laptop and cable modem connected. It can sustain power to these two devices for about an hour or so. It okay for the price.

The first two I had bought worked great for awhile. This replacement one I purchased lasted three months. Now the battery won’t hold a charge and it off puts an odd smell.

I bought a similar unit a year and a half ago and it looked to be the same model except it looked like it might be a newer version from the APC-Backup-UPS 600VA 7 outlet backup and surge protector that I had. The 600VA 7 outlet I have also has the Powerchute software and cable that plugs into the PC that monitors and shuts down the PC. My 600VA unit also has a runtime of about (it tells me) 40 minutes with the full load computer and monitor running. Thus, I don't have to worry about being home if the power goes out for the system to shut down by itself. I know this because it's already proven itself while I was on a trip. I leave the computer on so I can remote into it for important documents when I’m away. Although this is a good unit: Be Aware, THIS UNIT the 650VA 7 outlet has only a load runtime of about around 10 minutes on a full load I have found (from experience) and DOES NOT come with the Powerchute software or cable to hook up to the PC that monitors the total battery system or shutdown procedure. I was disappointed that I made this mistake. I found that most of these units don’t. I guess it will do the job for my other computer, but I'll have to be here when the power goes out to safely shut down the computer. Next time I'll thoroughly look at the specs. Nevertheless, APC makes great units.

When there is a power interruption, the device starts beeping and does not stop untio you press and hold the on button. This requires me to get under my desk to press the button. Not acceptable to me.

This is a new APC backup UPS design from the decades offered units with replaceable batteries. The battery is not replaceable (APC says it is maintenance-free). In addition, there is an activation jumper (connector) for the battery that is difficult to pull up and then insert into its intended prongs. My jumper was so hard to release that the prongs actually bent and I had to straighten them with piiers. After battery activation, the APC unit seems to be working fine. Anyone with small fingers might have an issue with this battery activation process. USPS delayed delivery 28 days through their Montgomery AL facility.

To tell the truth, I was disappointed in this item. APC has revised the unit but kept the same model #. The prior versions of this model had a port for a USB connection to a computer, and with that connection you could use their PowerChute software to monitor the status of the Back-up unit and manage settings like delay before shutting down the computer, alarms, and sound preferences. This newer version of the model has NO port and thus PowerChute is not available and you can't as easily configure or monitor the back-up.

Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. I apologize that the data port that you can use to connect your PC to PowerChute is no longer available on this model. If that is something you are interested in I would recommend checking out our BackUPS Pro line.

I haven’t had many times when I lost power but it has done the job when needed.

A good battery backup - but it typically quits after two years and the cost of the battery is so high that it just makes more sense to buy a new one - and that is why I bought this one. To avoid having a lot of controls they make it very difficult to control the settings - you MUST keep the manual or you won't know how to silence it or change other settings.

This "updated" model is not as good as its predecessor. It does not have a replaceable battery, so when it dies, it's off to the recycling. Further, it did not handle loads well. I had the previous model, and there was no problem with the load I had on it. This one, however, tripped every time I tried to print with my HP Laserjet.

Purchased it to replace a 450VA, but did not handle my PC which pulls as much as 500 to 550 watts (shuts down as soon as starting up PC), although an older 450 model does handle the same PC for days without shutting down. Ended up buying a 1500VA model to replace the 450VA and that has worked perfectly. This 650VA I left on the side to charge a router and cellphone.

Don't. Unless you're plugging this into just a television or a cablebox, buy something else. Despite it being a fairly standard feature on even their tiny ES350 models, this unit has NO USB MONITORING PORT. It is *just* a dumb battery with no way to tell your equipment that it's time to power down.

It works well ... after you give it the initial 24 hour charging period. Directions to change the "alarms" on it are very difficult to get through. It is definitely overpriced but I was in a pinch.

Didn't notice when i was buying that it doesn't have the ethernet to usb to connect to the computer. Bought it for a nas that really wants to know it's safe. it was cheap so I get it.

You get what you pay for. I've had some issues and don't feel it can be 100% trusted.

Purchased previously, battery lasted about 3 years.
