I bought this item a month ago and I waited to review it until I suffered at least one power outage and I suffered a brief outage of less than a minute today and it held up my office business computer no problem. Great UPS for the price! I would have preferred to have waited and bought a better more expensive model during a sale but I needed a new one right now, so I probably will buy a more expensive model during a sale later this year and keep this one [I’ll eventually only use this UPS for my computer monitors and tower / box fans] since it worked fine during a brief power outage and kept power to my PC and my coding projects but I eventually am needing something with a little bit more battery time and capacity …”?

I bought this after we experienced a sudden surge that took out our main router. After replacing the router, I wanted to make sure we had something to protect our devices as well as have at least a temporary power backup in the rare event that our power went completely out. I also liked the idea of having at least one USB port available to help charge/power at least one phone. Currently, we have the device serving a router, network switch, TV, Roku box, and PS4. Set up was fairly simple. My only wish is that there were more spacing options for the power plugs to accommodate for bulkier power plugs

I've owned a number of these devices over the years. There's not much that has changed; invariably the batteries wear out; and you find the cost of replacement is just not worth it. The manual for the 650 states that the battery is NOT user replaceable, that makes it a disposable item. Better to get a new device anyhow; so that aspect of it doesn't make much difference to me. One feature I did appreciate off the bat is the inclusion of a battery connect/disconnect plug. Previously, one would have to do a partial disassembly of the unit to put it in operating condition - so thanks for making that task a little easier. I do have two issues with the unit though. The first is - it smells! This is an issue that is not unique to APC though, and the manufacturer's claim is that the odor dissipates or "burns off" after a short period of use. Well, in my opinion, "short period" is kind of dependent on the sensitivity of your sense of smell. The other issue is the use of a single button. The one power button not only controls on/off, but also programming mode depending on whether you hold the button down for more or less than 2 seconds. There should at least be one additional button for silence as most UPS's provide. There is one other thing not specific to this unit, but to all lower end UPS supplies. I have a home generator. The generator operates on 63 cycles - normal utility power is 60 cycles. Whenever I lose power, the generator cuts in automatically, and at that point, all my UPS's will refuse to charge & start beeping - they look at it as "dirty power." So during an extended outage, they become basically useless, and I have to unplug any device attached to them. It has to do with the sinewave of the electricity, suffice it to say if you want a UPS that charges on generator power, you need to invest a heck of a lot more dollars - most start in the $300-$500 range and go up from there. All that said, this unit performed as designed, I would've just appreciated a separate mute button and a little less fragrance. And if you want one with a replaceable battery - it's not this model.

I purchased this UPS for my board for when I switch between shore power and inverter. After a season of use, I found that the APC 650VA/360W Back-UPS is a dependable and well-designed solution for protecting essential electronics. It provides reliable backup power during outages, giving you enough time to safely save work and shut down devices. The performance is consistent, and it handles everyday setups like PCs, routers, and monitors with ease. Many users praise its strong battery life, ease of use, and overall reliability, making it a trusted choice for home or office use. The compact design fits neatly into small spaces, while multiple outlets and a USB port add extra convenience. Setup is simple, and the unit offers solid surge protection for peace of mind. Overall, it’s an affordable, reliable, and practical backup power solution.

Works good. Its one of the inexpensive basic models but it does the job. Used it for my modem, router, alarm and security camera just in case the power goes out. It worked the last outage (about 15 min). Only complaint is that the outlet are too close together so if you have big boxy plugs you will not be able to maximize all the outlets. I did get this on sale and recommended since it was much cheaper than the others. But if you have a nice computer, I would recommend a better model with more battery run time. Especially if you need to run the computer when theres a power outage.

This is the second one of these units that I purchased. The alarm went off on the first one exactly three years from the original purchase date. I just bought a new one since it was relatively inexpensive enough to spare me the hassle of getting the battery changed. I gave the old one to my husband to get refreshed. I like that the unit is very compact with a small footprint and has lots of outlets. Gets the job done.

APC always makes great products. This 650VA Battery Back-Up and Surge Protector is very good for relatively short intervals of power outages. For more plugs and longer lasting power, the 900VA version is also a good choice. Hard to go wrong with APC.

I have several of these smaller UPS. I only trust APC. These models are great for keeping a TV protected or a wifi modem/router protected...even a PC. I wish the battery was easily replaceable, since once it dies you must discard it.

Pros: Great size, a good number of outlets, high amperage USB power. Cons: Last one was similar but takes an odd proprietary battery so I had to replace the unit instead of simply replacing the dead battery. Battery life isn't super long.

The same day I got my upgraded Windows 11 computer hooked up and running, my 3 year old APC UPS died; typical life span for these units. The new one is a step up from the old one, providing more battery run capacity. Pros: number of outlets and reliable APC build and performance. Cons: non-replaceable battery and limited recycling options. Best Buy sells these, but doesn't accept them for recycling. 4 stars reflect cons.

650VA is good enough for router and probably a small switch/AP if needed however I must point out APC is not doing a great job when comes to warning you about the potential maintenance cost of this device as well as clarifying the risk of using this UPS for longer than the warranty came with it. As you probably can image the battery in this unit will not age well and to a certain point you'll have to replace it, the problem is you'll have to check if the battery is good from time to time yourself by disconnecting it from outlet. To test it thoroughly you may even need wattage meter, etc. Making things really complicated. It is, obviously, recommended to power off all devices connected to it when conducting the battery test and only use some non-critical device to ensure no data loss during the operation. If the battery turns out not aging will you may either purchase new UPS or replace the battery in it at ~80% to ~50% of the MSRP which is a hefty pay, in my opinion. If you are not checking the battery periodically then this device is nothing but a super heavy surge protector giving you fake impression that your devices are protected during power outage while they are not. The battery degradation can begin as soon as half a year, given how often you're having power outage and the overall environmental condition(e.g. high temperature will do more harm to the battery). APC allow trade up to their "Smart UPS" but those are not for average people just want to protect their networking devices.

Works as advertised. Had a quick supply issue and it my computer sailed through it without issue. Does not have a computer interface like my last APC. Got it on sale

I really like the small compact shape and design along with the compatibility of the unit. I do wish it had more plugs but I understand it that would probably come with the larger unit which I really didn't need but this fits nicely in my entertainment center for my entertainment system and internet and router.

It will give me tome long enough to save and print critical documents from a desktop computer.

Great unit to protect against rolling blackouts for your laptop, cable modem, and router when working from home.

I always put a UPS between my computers, tv, game systems, etc. You can't put a printer or sound equipment on the battery backup area but monitors, PCs, network routers\wifi, and game consoles work great. This device will keep them from crashing during power surges or interruptions. The only knock on this particular model is that it doesn't have a USB port that connects to your PC that allows you to monitor and control it. Still, a solid purchase and worth every penny.

This worked exactly for what we needed. Battery backup for multiple items , 7 outlets was even more than needed.

I have been using APC backups for several years. Where I live the power intermittently goes out for several seconds every few months and having a backup power supply has been helpful in keeping the electronics and computers I have running. This unit is not as powerful as some of my other backups but works well with keeping power to my cable modem and cable tv box when I have these power glitches.
