This is a great size backup to plug in several devices when you are only looking for a few minutes to shut them all down. It won't run them for extended time but that wasn't what I wanted. Outlet spacing is good.

The APC – Back UPS 900VA is a simple device that just provides battery power for 6 of its 9 total outlets in the event of a power outage. It seems that this model is not designed like the APC batteries of previous generations where you could have the PowerChute software running and it would power down your PC in the even of a power loss or when the batter was depleted down to a certain level. This unit simply provides power with no data port to connect to a PC. I was a bit disappointed, but it is not a deal breaker for me since we rarely are without power in my area for more than a few minutes if at all. Power surges or sags do happen more often and that is what I am more concerned about. Using a UPS as this will provide protection from those type of events by providing clean power to the electronics without power fluctuations. I have a different APC unit on my TV and entertainment system to protect them. I have my mid-range gaming PC with a 25” monitor, modem, Linksys Velop node and my Arlo camera’s plugged into the APC unit and it when I removed power it was able to keep my devices powered up for a little over 10 minutes. When I tested it with just my Arlo cameras and networking devices (8 port Linksys switch, cable modem, Linksys velop tri-band node), it provided power for about 6 hours. I might purchase a second APC unit for just my PC since that seems to need its own battery. The design of the outlet plugs could limit the number of devices that you use if their plugs are not oriented in the proper way. If it is a standard PC power cord type, then you can use all 9 spots, however, just about all my other devices use rectangular or square plugs that block access to at least another plug. You can use extension cords to make it work, but it does not look as clean that way. With so many of our devices in our home’s dependent on internet connection, I feel it’s very important to keep the devices that provide that connectivity powered up in the event of a power loss. I don’t really think this unit is designed for a PC since it does not have the PowerChute software to tell the PC to power off gracefully and this will keep those other devices up for a much longer period of time. Also, it does not have a user replaceable battery and after the battery expires you will have to purchase a new unit. That is something I miss of the old models as well. Be sure to register it so you can extend the warranty period out to 3 years. Pros: Cost Runtime for networking equipment 3 year warranty Easy to use and set up USB 2.1A charging port Cons: non-user replaceable battery orientation of the plugs limits use No management software for PC to shut down

I work on large spreadsheets for work as well as 3D models for my personal CNC business. I try to hit the save button as much as possible but occasionally forget. There's been a few time a UPC saved me from looking so much editing. Especially now with the pending California rolling black outs.Got the APC Back UPS 900VA for my home and save me just in case of rolling black out. Out of the box you're getting 900VA battery back up itself. nothing much. The Battery Back up has 6 battery backed up outlets and 3 surge protected outlets, 9 total. The 900VA is easy to use, nothing not difficult to understand. I made sure to follow the instructions of plugging in the battery backup to an AC power outlet for 8.5 hours. To test if the battery backup was working I plugged in my computer, monitor, external HD, the pure essentials, then unplugged the battery. To emulate a regular work day made a 3D model, brought up several spreadsheets and started transferring a about 141GB of photos and videos from my recent trip. I was able to get 32 mins of battery back up time before the 2 minute warning alarm came up. Obviously, your time will very with different computer and devices but this gave me enough time to be able to save my work and file before the computer would need to be shut off. I did have trouble when I plugged in laser printer into the battery backuped outlet and it went through it's warm up routine. It overloaded the battery backup so beware and make sure you only plug in the true essentials. Conclusion, I would highly recommend this product if you're working from home especially if you have work sensitive material.

This is a very good item it is easy to install, has a good number of plugs, and one usb port. It is not smart (no wi-fi capability) but not a must have.

APC makes good UPS devices, and this is no exception. However, I was surprised that it did not have a data port to communicate with a computer. If I had realized that I probably would have picked up a different model. Still, it's a good value for the price

Good price. Works great for what it was purchased for.

Easy to setup. The number of outlets is satisfactory.

This is a pretty nice and simple to understand back up unit. If you are using it for a safe way to power down your PC when the power goes out, then this is perfect. If you want it as a true back up power unit you need to buy something bigger. We also have this as a backup power source for our modem and router and it does offer a decent amount of back-up time for that application. Also the ability to silence the beeping when the power goes out and it is on back-up power is nice.

Good - or not Bad, depending on what you are looking for. Does the job but with all products like this read up on it carefully. When the power goes out it will continue to power your device for a bit but, of course, depend upon what the device is. Will keep your computer running long enough to close up and shut down but that's about it. It is great for charging devices. Would be great if had a meter to show how much power is left but for the price this will do.

I got this Unit today and as soon as I unpacked it, I noticed that the Power Switch was not flush and jammed. Also where the Unit mates together, it was not aligned properly. At this point, let me say that I have 42 Years experience in Aviation Electronics and I know what I am doing. What I did next, I strongly advise anyone else not to do, just send it back and get a Refund or another one. APC designs these units that when you take them apart, they are a Nightmare to put back together because everything has to aligned perfectly when you try to to put it back together. That was the problem with this unit. After several attempts of repositioning Wires, etc.,I finally got everything right and it snapped together properly. I plugged it in , switched on Power and everything worked ok. And also this Model you cannot replace the Battery, but when I had it apart, it had a APC RBC17 Battery inside, but as I advise, do not attempt to take this Model apart, because you will regret it.

Works great. Have another one and it is still going strong.

So I bought this specifically to keep my router operating when the power goes out. As expected, when the power went out at my house, the battery backup did last for a full 6 hours. Note: I only had my modem plugged to the battery backup. The more you plug in the faster it drains.

I purchased this surge to protect my electronics during power outages. I live in St. Croix, USVI, the power company without notice cut the power. So, far it has been great-the battery has just enough power to last until power is restored. Great investment.

It's a nice UPS. The outlet orientation is a bit cumbersome, but this seems to be the problem with a lot of these devices. There isn't enough room between the outlets. This appears to an unsolved issue since the beginning of personal computers. You'd think by 2021, it would be resolved. And of course, this is a function of the different "sizes" the plug configurations are with different devices. For example, plugs with transformers are large, and tend to take up the physical space of 1-1/2 outlets, making adjacent outlets unusable. Like many manufacturers of UPS's or power strips, if they were made a little "longer", it would solve the problems, but then of course that UPS or power strip takes more space. I think it would be nice, in the case of UPS's that they are made a little larger to accommodate the use of ALL the outlets.

I have owned this for a few years now and it has performed reliably to this point. So far, I'm satisfied.

Its a decent battery backup it seems... i bought a bunch of these with different power ratings becauae our new home has very fickle power and i wanted to ensure my bitcoin mining was uninterrupted as well as devices protected.

Product availability was the best point. i have had quite a few APCC backups and replacement batteries so no issue there. One good point was the ability to recycle the old equipment thru best Buy locally.

Fantastic design change to connect battery. No longer do you have to open the hatch to physically plug in the battery terminal connector. This new design is fantastic. All you need to do it to pull a tab and you're set!

Have always relied on APC back ups and this one replaced one that was so outdated that I could not get a new battery for it. Hope this new one will last as long
