This is a well built gaming notebook. It features a metal lid; however, the rest seems to be high quality plastic. I used it with the included 16GB of RAM. I checked the included Asus Armor Crate software and noticed I was actually using every bit of the 16GB running Windows 11, Armor Crate, World of Warcraft Midnight, and Discord at the same time. In fact sometimes I was exceeding that amount of RAM. In order to avoid SSD swapping slowdowns, I upgraded the RAM to 32GB with 2, 8GB Corsair 5600GHz memory modules. Now I have lots of headroom. For gaming use it has gotten to where 32GB of RAM should really be the minimum. I kept the review at 4 stars because the memory is very easy to upgrade. The SSD can also be upgraded, and the laptop has an easily accessible extra slot for an additional NVME SSD drive. I made use of that slot with a WD Black NVME SSD to load games on. With regards to performance, I am able to play World of Warcraft Midnight with the graphics set to 10. The frame rates are great, especially with Vertical Sync disabled in WOW settings. The thermals are staying within nominal parameters with the set up I have. As you will see in the photo I play with an external display, keyboard and mouse. My entire gaming setup, including the router are all Asus. For anything non-gaming, or anything that does not require Windows, I use a Mac. I consider this laptop to be a mobile desktop. It is something I could travel with if I really needed to. I could not care less about battery life in a gaming laptop since if that is important to you no gaming laptop with the power this thing has will be sufficient. These things are meant to be mostly used plugged in, especially for gaming. The display on the laptop has significant light bleed, but I use it plugged into an Asus OLED external display, I did test the laptop keyboard and it has a good tactile feel with plenty of key travel. If you need a portable gaming rig, this is a good choice.

I’ve had this laptop for a couple of weeks now and so far I’m enjoying it. The RTX 5070 looks great while the Ryzen 9 keeps it running smooth. I ran cyberpunk 2077 at regular settings to fully test it at first. Ran smoother than it does on my Xbox series X. It has a nice sleek design. The laptop itself is very light weight. Battery isn’t the best, BUT during setup it gives you an option for battery save mode. What this does on top of multiple things is only allows the battery to fully charge to 80%. In turn this keeps the battery in good condition long term. I did this feature and this may be why my battery died after a couple of hours. The laptop is pretty quiet. I did hear the fans going, but I’ve heard louder, so I’m not complaining. Since I keep it on a fan most of the time to play it say I don’t hear it anyways. If I had to say anything bad about it I would have to say the charger and charger placement. Charger plugs in on the left side and it’s a pretty hefty charger that has a circular plug that goes into the laptop. In 2025 you’d think that it would be a usb c charger, but I’m not an expert on chargers so maybe there’s a reason behind that. Charger plugging in on the left side is a little inconvenient though. I like a laptop with a charger port on the back because I often use my laptop on a fan plugged up to my monitor. There are slots on the back on the laptop though. Not sure if their for the speakers or fans, but I can see why the charger doesn’t plug into the back because of this. I will say the size is perfect. I went through 3 laptops before deciding to get this one. Had a 16 inch Alienware that broke 24 hours out of box. Then 14 inch hp omen that was nice, but 14 inches was too small. To an Alienware 18 inch that ended up being way to big and weighed 10 pounds! This 16 inch light weight is perfect. Easy to find backpacks for and isn’t too heavy to where you feel like your breaking your back. It’s nice for traveling because I can fit it and my work laptop in a single backpack without it getting too heavy. Overall I think it’s a great laptop for the value. Also, I did some research because I was concerned with the 16gb ram thinking it’s not enough. This comes with an extra card slot that’s apparently very easily accessible. Not sure how much ram you can add to where the laptop can’t handle it, but tell me of an Alienware laptop that can do that! Just a really cool last feature I wanted to end my review with. So I travel a lot and having a PC than can handle competitive gaming and also big titles such as cyberpunk at 200fps+ is currently a must for my wants and needs in a laptop even. I've owned the laptop for a few months and I'll be fully transparent about it. I've had some small issues that others would be alarmed about such as blue screen or it shutting down when loaded with a GPU heavy game but it all fixed as soon as drivers, bios, and other software was updated. That's pretty normal now with any new PC or laptop. Pros: 5070 it is a monster and can handle anything you throw at it even with ray tracing, you will still see around 200+fps or more on most titles like cyberpunk, witcher, Dead space remaster, val, cs2, league, halo, cod, arc raiders, etc. The screen is actually pretty amazing even at 165 hz it performs and the colors are better than majority of other laptops even some monitors that I've owned (Asus, MSI, Dell, Acer, Alienware. Cooling is really what pushed me to buy this monster of a laptop. The best cooling I've seen and had in a laptop my internals don't even exceed 89°C which is insane on a loaded device, granted it matters how much airflow and regionally where you are located. Keyboard feels good and responsive especially for not being mechanical you really can't ask for more. The overall look and design feels good like the hinge and bezel, the feel the metal and panels as well feels high quality and looks good. Other than it being thicker of course which is important for the cooling aspect. Cons: Battery life is low I can play thru 2 R6 Siege games and have to plug it in after or during which are around 15-30 mins each game. So that could be improved 165hz refresh rate could be higher honestly for what this device pushes out I don't know why Asus didn't go with 240hz but it's not a crazy deal but something that should been standard. Brightness off battery on default. I don't know if you can change this in the settings as I have not tried yet but the brightness on battery is buns and annoys me when I'm playing a comp game other than that, that's all my cons I have for it tbh. Amazing laptop if you can dish the money out and definitely worth having the upgraded GPU vs other models or brands. This was the overall best bang for your buck in terms of power that I found out there in fall 2025.

This laptop fully replaced my old desktop and all i can say is that the 5070ti in this thing does a fabulous job of 1080p and 1440p gaming. The cpu is a Ryzen 8940HX cpu has 16 cores and 32 threads, and it's doing a fabulous job of running my installs of matlab and autodesk software. All in all, my one pain point q that i had to add my own ideal amount of ram which is fine, and I threw in a couple of 4tb SSD's rather than the 1tb it comes with. That's not so much a complaint as it is a personal use case necessity though. The 16gb ddr5 it came with was solid for general gaming and the use most normal people get up to. And 1tb of nvme storage stock isn't terrible either; it's better than what the new ps5 slim will give you! The stock 1920x1200p display is perfectly adequate and with a 165hz refresh rate, it's great for gaming, though i went and hooked mine up to my KVM dock. Don't expect the battery to last long gaming or doing heavy loads without it being plugged in though - the machine is too powerful to be all that light on power draw.

My first experience was not good since, when installing the new Doom, it froze and did not respond. After a couple of days at the technical service, I decided to exchange it for a new laptop. So far, it works very well—playing at 1440p is great, and for 1080p, it performs exceptionally, allowing everything to be set to ultra without any issues. The most critical aspect of the laptop is its very low brightness; even at night and in a dark place, it lacks the best clarity. It is also important to note that it does not support HDR. The audio is average. The laptop stands out for its processor and graphics card.

The build quality feels solid and premium, with smooth overall performance. The dual-side cooling design works well, and thermal behavior clearly differs across the three performance modes. When running UE5 games, I experienced very little stuttering. Visual quality and color output are excellent, even during heavy cloth simulation and complex visual effects. CPU temperatures remain within a reasonable range under load. For daily tasks, the quiet mode is genuinely quiet, with minimal fan noise, making it comfortable for office use. In terms of overall performance, it does not feel far behind a desktop setup. I can realistically see this laptop remaining capable for at least the next three to four years. One detail I really appreciate is how intelligently the system manages fan behavior. In performance mode, fan speed increases appropriately during active UE5 scene rendering, but once switching to a more static view, the system quickly and noticeably quiets down. This kind of responsive adjustment makes the machine feel well-tuned rather than brute-force.

This is my second ASUS gaming laptop and I continue to be impressed with the quality and capabilities of these machines! This Strix in particular is a beast; it has handled everything I’ve thrown at it with no issues whatsoever. I was concerned at first with it having only 16 gigs of ram but then I read how easy it is to upgrade it yourself so I purchased 32 gigs and cracked it open myself… it was the easiest install I’ve ever done! The Ram is very accessible and simple to remove and install; in less than 10 minutes I was done. The 5070TI card alone is worth the price tag; it is a fantastic card with 12 dedicated gigs of video ram, so nice! I’ve been playing stalker 2 on epic settings without any kind of issue, it’s beautiful! Things to know about gaming laptops; yes the fan is a little loud, yes you have to play games plugged in. To me neither is an issue; you want high powered fans to keep your machine safe and cool so it can run smooth and fast! And of course the amount power behind gaming requires a decent amount of electric power. So yes good fans and being plugged in is to be expected. In conclusion I highly recommend this machine; nothing in its price range can beat it!

! I’ve been using this laptop for a while now, and it runs super fast and smooth. It handles both gaming and everyday tasks with no lag at all. The RGB keyboard looks amazing, and the overall build quality feels premium. Cooling system works great too — even during long sessions, it stays steady. The only thing I’d say is that upgrading the RAM in the future could make it even better. Overall, totally worth it for the performance and quality you get. Highly recommend!

This laptop is amazing, it's the least expensive one I found with a 5070 Ti and I even got it on sale at the time. It's able to handle my games amazingly and is noticably quieter than my previous one. I know some people don't prefer to game on a laptop but it works really well for me because of portability and I was never going to be able to build a PC of the same level for that price.

The 2025 Asus ROG Strix G16 is an absolute powerhouse. From the start, I was determined not to compromise on either the CPU or GPU, and this laptop delivers on both fronts. Great laptop for running LLM's locally. Impressive graphics and lightning fast. Adequate battery life. The only issue is, while running any Linux distro, you will not get sound out of the internal speakers. I was able to find a patch to get sound from external speakers and ear-buds, via bluetooth. If Asus creates a patch to fix the internal speaker problem while running Linux, I will change my rating to 5 stars! Running Windows out the box, I had no problems.

A powerhouse indeed. Awesome to work with and play games. Bit weak on the battery side which is kind of expected but it lives up to its specs.

The only reason I give 4 stars to this gaming laptop is because of the display, I mean, for the price charged it could be QHD 2k. This laptop is as powerful or more powerful than some gaming Desktops, you will just need to upgrade the ram and ssd later to get even better performance. Keyboard is very good, the fans is not too loud, build quality is premium and the speakers are fair good too. I recommend this gaming laptop for anyone who wants extremely performance while gaming or photo/ video editing.

Very good gaming laptop, everything’s working fine. The first couple days that I used to play videogames it shutdown a couple times, but I realized that you have to change the GPU performance from Standard to Ultimate and that helps with the voltage problem that shutdowns Windows. Everything’s perfect now!

Great pc, would definitely pick up 16gb more ram and it would be solid, luckily I had some from my previous laptop so it worked out
