This model example of a 1930 Chevrolet® truck represents an early precursor to the hardworking Chevrolet® trucks admired today. The 1930 models were powered by a new inline six-cylinder motor with an advanced overhead-valve design, celebrated for its durability and used for many years in Chevrolet® engines. At a time when many companies competed in the truck market, Chevrolet® led with strength, durability, and innovation, revitalizing consumer demand for modern trucks. The Texaco connection traces back to Sour Lake Springs, originally known for its sulfurous waters before oil discoveries transformed the region. In January 1903, The Texas Company struck oil at Sour Lake Springs, a bold gamble that turned it into a major oil producer overnight. The Fee No. 3 well produced 5,000 barrels a day, securing the company’s future in petroleum exploration, refining, transportation, and distribution, and cementing the legacy of visionaries like co-founder J.S. Cullinan and driller Walter Sharp.
