About This Item
Digitally re-mastered and expanded edition including two bonus tracks. In 1973, Barbra Streisand went into the studio to make this album, one of the first (and still considered one of the best) Classical crossover recordings. This unique collection of art songs and arias was originally released in February 1976, with it's striking cover portrait by Francesco Scavullo, and has never gone out of print. Classical Barbra rose to #46 on the Billboard Top 200 chart in 1976 and is certified gold in the U.S. Thirteen-time Grammy- winning producer Steven Epstein re-mastered the original recording for this reissue, the first since it's original CD in 1987. Most importantly, it contains the first ever of two additional tracks recorded during the original sessions but never available until now two of Franz Schubert's best known songs, 'An Sylvia' and 'Auf dem Wasser zu singen.'
