I can’t believe I own a set of Beats headphones. More importantly, I can’t believe I’m loving them. Let me explain why. Until now, I was never impressed with Beats. To me, Beats headphones were more about making a statement with the “b” on each ear cup for people who don’t really care about great sound. That was until I listened to the new Beats Solo Pro. I’ve had mine now for a few days and have spent many hours listening to all genres of music. I can honestly say the Solo Pro is really really good! These are most definitely not the Beats which were. These Beats go in a totally new direction and I’m honestly stunned at how much I’m enjoying them. Gone is the boomy, mushy rattle your head bass with little regard to mid and upper frequencies. Gone is glossy, cheap plastics. When Apple bought Beats a few years ago, Apple has been infusing Beats with higher and higher levels of quality, especially in terms of sound. And these Solo Pro are without question the best Beats headphones I’ve heard. In typical Apple fashion, these come packaged superbly. Once you remove the outside plastic wrap on the box, you flip one side of the box down to fold all sides of the box flat in Apple-esque style to reveal the carrying case, with the headphones inside. There’s a hidden slide out tray with the Lightning to USB cable and a caribiner you can attach for extra’s if you need to carry additional accessories or attach them to your backpack. My daily drivers have been a much more expensive pair of high-end Bluetooth, Active Noise Cancelling (ANC), over-the ear headphones. Are the Solo Pro the equal of them? No, but they also cost less. and they sound really good. Beats has done a terrific job with the look and feel of the Solo Pro. They come in multiple colors from light to vivid blue, black, ivory, gray and like the pair I have, red. The design is modern and sleek looking. Beats is using high-quality plastics, which are matte finished and seemingly impervious to fingerprints. Behind the plastics are aluminum, which is anodized to compliment the color of the headphones and everything moves and slides with a feeling of long-lasting goodness. There is no power button on these puppies. To turn them on you unfold them on and you fold them back to turn them off. The ear cups are not leather but are certainly soft and didn’t make my ears sweat like some cheap pleather I’ve worn before. Underneath is memory foam which is soft and adjusts to the contours of your ears well. For iPhone/iPad user like me, you’ll love how simple it is pair these headphones. Apple uses the H1 Chip in their new headphones. Once you unfold them to power them on, they instantly pop up on your iPhone screen (without having to go into Settings/Bluetooth) and you simply tap to connect. Going even further, if you have multiple iDevices, the headphones will now be paired with every device you have which uses the same Apple ID. With six devices under the same Apple ID, it’s a blessing to be honest. You can pair them to any device which accepts Bluetooth headphones. So, Android you’re not left out. Apple says they are Class 1 Bluetooth. Their range is beyond amazing. Many BT devices have a range of around 30 – 40 feet at most. Not these puppies. You can go way further from your paired device than I’ve gone with any BT headphone I’ve ever owned. I didn’t lose connection until I got at least 100 feet from my iPhone. There are no latency issues with videos either. On the Apple side, there is no App for the Solo Pro. There is a Beats App available for Android for pairing and firmware updates. There are no EQ settings. You either like how they sound, or you don’t. Or you can download an EQ app, if you feel you need one. In my opinion good headphones shouldn’t need equalization to sound good. I don’t adjust EQ on my other headphones, even though I can. These are truly tap and play headphones! Controls on the Solo Pro are physical, not touch. From personal experience with touch controls, the concept is better than reality. An unintended swipe can pause or change your music when you didn't want to. The Solo Pro controls are simple and intuitive. Press the center of the right ear cup once to pause your music. Tap it again to play. A double press skips to the next track or a triple press goes back to the previous track. Hold the top of the button to increase volume and hold the bottom to lower volume. Press and hold the center button to bring up the virtual assistant or if you're an Apple user simply say "Hey Siri." The only other control is on the left ear cup, where you can turn ANC and Transparency Mode on or off. Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) in the Solo Pro is adaptive, meaning the headphones monitor outside sounds to apply the right amount of noise cancellation without negatively impacting your music. While noise cancelling is great in noisy environments, there are times you need to hear some of what’s going on around you. So the Solo Pro also includes Transparency Mode. With Transparency Mode, you’ve got noise cancellation, but you can also hear outside sounds. This is one area the Solo Pro outshines all my other headphones. Outside sounds don’t sound digital or altered. Some people place a huge amount of importance on ANC. I don’t buy headphones for ANC. I buy headphones for their sound quality and ANC is just a nice addition. To that end the ANC and Transparency Mode on the Solo Pro is all I could ever need and then some. Let's talk comfort. No matter how good headphones sound, if they're not comfortable you won't enjoy them. I’ve read reviews where people said they are uncomfortable. One person complained they couldn't run with them. To think these would make good running headphones makes no sense to me. For running, choose a good pair of earbuds which lock in place, not an over the ear headphone which can bounce when you run. I found if you don't extend the ear cup arms far enough from their shortest length, they can be a little tight. But if you adjust them to extend lower on your ear, the comfort level increases significantly. It did for me and I wear glasses, which hasn't been an issue at all. Maybe Apple will offer these in an over the ear version at some point. Anyone considering these will just need to try them on at their Best Buy store to see how they feel on their head. A final note about comfort: There is no "L" "R" markings on the ear cups. That doesn't mean it doesn't matter which way you wear them. It matters a lot. The right ear cup has the lightning charging port and physical controls for pause/play/volume/answer/track selection. Trust me, if you put them on backwards, they're most definitely not comfortable. It made me wonder if some people who thought they were uncomfortable, wore them backwards? Sound trumps all when it comes to headphones. These aren’t the Beats of just a few years ago and was for me, the single biggest surprise. I commented earlier that bass doesn’t overwhelm and it doesn’t. But bass isn’t lacking either. If you play music with heavy bass, it’s powerful, with great oomph. It just doesn’t cover up what the rest of the music is doing and that’s why I think they’ve improved significantly. Symphonic music is full, with a great sound stage. Piano music resonates perfectly. Vocals sound smooth and natural. And the highest frequencies, such as cymbals, triangle or harpsichord are brilliant, without sounding shrill or harsh. Remarkably, turning on ANC didn’t diminish the sound stage, which often happens with headphones using noise cancelling circuitry. Call quality with the Solo Pro was terrific. I’ve made/answered several calls with them. I could hear them clearly and they could hear me clearly. Battery life on the Solo Pro is great! You can get up to 22 hours of play on a single charge with ANC or Transparency on. If you don’t use ANC or Transparency, you can get up to 40 hours on a single charge. That’s FORTY HOURS!! And if you need to recharge on the go, you can plug in for 10 minutes (Fast Fuel) to get 3 hours of play time. It wasn’t long ago getting up to 6 hours was considered great for wireless headphones. With all the praise, is there anything to criticize? Here are the few cons I can think of, which really don’t amount to anything significant: 1. The carrying case provided, while nice and soft is well, soft. I don’t like soft cases. I purchased a hard case to provide more protection during transport. 2. The Solo Pro doesn’t offer a wired connection. I you want or need one, you can buy an Apple lightning to 3.5 mm headphone plug for $35. 3. It’s disappointing to see Apple chose lighting to USB to charge these. It’s time (IMHO) for Apple to retire the Lighting connector. With Pro in their name, I would have expected USB C. 4. These don’t pause if you take them off your ears (you need to remember to tap the right ear cup once to pause them), which I find odd, given much less expensive headphones pause if removed. 5. For those who want to adjust EQ, you can’t since there’s no app provided. If you think you need one, there are options in both App Stores. If this all I can come up with, it’s honestly trivial and in no way should stop you from giving serious consideration to the Solo Pro. All in all, the new Beats Solo Pro, bring Beats forward many steps from the Beats from just a few years ago. They’re well-made, with premium feeling materials. They sound terrific, in fact far better than I expected. They’re for the most part comfortable and for $300 are a really great value. Beats, you made a believer of me and that’s not easy to do. Or maybe with quality and sound like this, it was. Note: I took one star off for comfort and for not pausing when taken off your head. Otherwise, these are 5 star headphones.

The sound is great and everything advertised isn’t exaggerated you get it all here and more the clamp is a little much but you get used to it. It connects immediately with my 11 pro and is great for my work outs.

Excellent headphones. They are a little tight and that is all I can complain about them. But great sound! Noise cancellation is the best I’ve found yet!

The music quality is better then expected! The transparency and ANC is amazing! The only reason I give a 4 star is because of it being on ear headphones, around 30 minutes of wearing, you will need to take a break, due to the constant clamping force, you can’t just move them up to the side of your ear like the studio 3s because you would feel the clamp force pressuring your jaw also. I got mines for $150 for open box, if the status is “excellent“ them I recommend saving a couple of bucks and getting the open box.

First of all, I have several headphones including the latest AirPods Pro with ANC and transparency feature. And I have a mixed feeling about that headphone. So let's discuss about the newest entry from Beats who, for those of you that are not aware, is also owned by Apple. The bad: - Like AirPods Pro, no separate software to control the equalizer. You basically stuck with the one that Apple has, which, as much as I love Apple, I have to admit...suck. So, you basically stuck. No freedom to set up the music the way you like it. - I have a medium size head, but this headphone is really tight on me. Maybe because it's still brand new, and eventually with more wear, it will get more comfortable. I hope. But if you plan to get this, you might want to try putting this on your head to make sure that you like the fit. - The noise canceling feature is not the best one around. I practically has to put the volume all the way up if I want no sound from outside at all. During quiet music or when the music stop, I can still hear faint noises from outside. - And that brings us to my next complain I have about ALL Apple headphone... the volume. I like to hear my music loud. With all Apple headphone, I basically has to put the volume all the way up. I may never need to have the volume higher than it's available, but I still like to have that option. But I guess with noise canceling feature, I finally have a headphone that satisfy my listening experience. The good: - A very stylish looking headphone that will put you in style. I love the color range that it's available. I am guy and I love the red color. But I'll be happy with any of the color that's available. - As much as I don't think this has the best ANC, I still think this is one of the headphone best features. You have the transparency option which basically magnify the sound around you. It's a cool feature but I am not particularly a fan because to me, it actually makes it harder to hear. - If you have Apple product, the pairing is a breeze. You basically has to "open" the headphone close to iPhone/iPad and the headphone will pair automatically. A very cool feature, especially if you like me, love everything about Apple products. So seamless and effortless. This is why I use Apple headphone even though there are better ones out there. Nothing beats the convenient of having this thing pair with your product automatically as soon as you turn it on. - Turning on & off: You fold it, it's off. You "open" the headphone, it's on. Very cool. Again, very convenient and very seamless. You don't need to "feel" the headphone to find an on/off button. - Music control on the headphone. The right side of the headphone is like a control center. You push the top part to turn the volume up and down to turn the volume down. You press the center part, the song stops. Press the center twice, skip a song Press three times, go back to the previous song. Again, cool feature. And because of the size, it's very easy to do all of those 'navigations'. - I know I said that the headphone feels really tight on me, but the pad is made of a very soft leather and it feels good on your ear. - 22 hours of battery with ANC on. 44 without. But if you have this headphone, why not take the advantage of the noise canceling. And 10 minutes charging equals to 3 hours playing. - And the last: the sound. I hate the sound on Beats Powerbeat3. I can't imagine that Apple would release a product that's bad. The sound of the headphone is like you listening a music made with an empty can. I have Powerbeats2 which sounds so much better. I know Beats used to be known for its thumping bass sound. But I think since Apple took over, they overhaul the sound. This might not be the best headphone out there, but I really appreciate using this while listening to Al Jarreau or Rush You can hear all of those nuances that you would never hear from hearing a regular headphone. I feel that the bass is there but not overwhelming. It actually balances nicely with the treble. Listening to J Lo "Dance Again", you hear the thumbing bass but you still hear her voice really clear. Very nice sound. In the end, I believe this will be my headphone of choice, especially if I want to just immerse myself completely in the music that I want to hear. The price might be a little bit steep, but if you can get it cheaper or on sale, and you like the fit, this might not be a bad choice.

Verdict: a great pair of headphones all around! Comfortable to wear, great sound, and good active noise cancellation. Caveats. I am not an audiophile so my assessment of the sound quality may not be as thorough as others. I’ve had these for a couple days and put them through hours of wearing and listening. Wear. I found these to be comfortable to wear. The earcups are very soft and plush. The overhead band is also plush and seems durable. I’ve worn these headphones for up to three hours at a time without pain and little discomfort, in fact they are more comfortable in some aspects than my regular go-to headphones. I could see how they may feel tight to some though. Also, these are big with bold colors, so you have to own the look… but that’s just a part of the headphones lifestyle. There are left and right marking on the hinges where the headphones fold. The headphones are angled to be fit in that way, so definitely wear them the right way. Siri Integration. It makes sense that Siri integration would work well with the Beats headphones since it is now an Apple brand, but Siri works REALLY well! I’ve had Siri (or voice assistant) integration with other headphones/earphones but frankly they were clunky, thus not suitable for practical use. On these headphones, saying “Hey Siri” will immediately lower the volume (so you know the command was heard) and within a second Siri will answer or execute a command, then the music will resume at normal volume. Sound. The sound quality combined with active noise cancellation makes for a really nice experience. No need to raise the volume to enjoy! The sound itself is well rounded from highs to lows. I listen to a wide variety of music and these handle all types perfectly. Active noise cancellation blocks all surrounding sounds and allow you to enjoy your tunes in complete focus. They make for an complete immersive experience. Buttons. I was surprised that there are no dedicated buttons to skip songs. I think this was a mistake by Beats since it seems simple to incorporate dedicated physical buttons (like the volume ones) on the right earcup. While the volume is at the top and bottom of the earcup, the song skip buttons could have been at the left and right of the earcup. The software solution of pressing the center button twice to skip and three times to go back is acceptable but not ideal. This is not a significant problem for me since the Siri integration works so well; at home it is just as fast to ask Siri to skip a song as it is to find the center button and press twice. Actually, I have found myself using Siri way more with these because it is so easy! Exercise. I did not try these with cardio workouts because they are too nice. No way I want to be sweating in these; for running there are great compact Bluetooth earphones that provide passive noise cancellation, great sound, and better fit. However, I did use these for a weightlifting session and they stayed in place well throughout the workout. I think this may be one reason they are built to be a little tighter. App. I could not find an app for these headphones. Many of my other earphones/headphones include an app to adjust the equalizer, review usage controls, register for warranty, etc. I actually seldomly use the apps, so maybe this was a good decision by Beats to not waste resources on an app. If you didn’t know this, the iPhone has a native equalizer inside of its settings that works well with these earphones. Simply search for EQ in your iPhone settings. Connections. I was surprised to see that the charging cable is lightning! It’s not a problem for us since we have lightning cables everywhere, but these are the ONLY headphones we have that are not USB-C. Also, there is no 35mm plug in option; at this price range, they really should have this option. I have used this option on other headphones with my work computer (Bluetooth disabled) and laptops belonging to others. Things I love: - Bluetooth setup was a breeze! Connected in just seconds with an iPhone. Seamless connection on subsequent uses. I love that these turn on, and connect (!!), as soon as you unfold them. Nicely done! - Best Siri integration I have seen in headphones. - Great sound! Couldn’t really ask for more. - Active noise cancellation works well. Pass through mode easily activates by a quick button touch. You can also turn off noise cancellation by holding the button down. - Comfortable! No issues for me. And they are snug enough to stay in place when you lift weights. - These work well with phone calls too! I received a phone call while listening to music and pressed the play/pause button, and it picked up the call. - It comes with a nice (soft) carrying case. - Excellent battery life. I am at about 15 hours of use, with still plenty to go. Also, if you are in a bind, a 10 min charge will provide 3 hours of play! - Nice Bluetooth range! I left my phone in the living room and roamed around the house without any signal loss. Things I don’t love: - I would have liked dedicated physical skip buttons for songs. - Pass-through mode should lower the music a little so that you can hear the outside world. Otherwise it works decently to let sound through. - Auto-pause when removing the headphones would be nice. - Lack of 35mm option. There are great use case for this. This limits the versatility of these headphones for me. - May feel tight to some. Overall, these are great headphones that I plan to use frequently. These definitely deserve four stars, maybe even 4.5. I did not give these five stars because they are missing a couple of things, and don’t quite have the “wow” factor.

These headphones are Great, but have a few issues. The materials are amazing, they have a quality feel to them. Battery lasts for about a week. Transparency mode is very useful. Charging time is very low. However, out of the box, sound quality is weird. There is too much midrange and not enough bass, I had to put sound enhancements for it to get more low range. After about half an hour, ears start to hurt from the fit, you might need to adjust it. The noise cancellation works but takes some getting used to. When first used, my ears felt like I was on an airplane, but this will go away after a day or 2. Overall, I give them a 4/5, would recommend to a friend.

The sound on these is pretty incredible. Great bass, and gets really loud if you want. Bluetooth was easy as can be to set up, transparency / noise cancelling is pretty nice, battery holds charge very well. No headphone jack on the headphones, but that's fine. Mic is surprisingly solid as well. Only reason I am knocking off a star is they are a little tight on my head no matter how I adjust the fit - and the sizing of the cushion for the ears is slightly awkward... they are ALMOST big enough to be over-ear, but not quite so they scrunch the ear a little. If you are able to try these on and they are comfy - odds are you will view them as a 5/5 item. Overall I really like them, just hard to wear for too long. I got them for sale, would certainly purchase at sale price again.

The good: - Great sound quality - Rich bass - Pretty much no sound bleed - Great noise cancelling - Pairing is really easy with apple devices - Battery life is pretty great, lasted me many days before needing to recharge - They recharge very quickly - They look great The bad: - They clamp too hard around your head, especially around the top of the head - Transparency mode is disappointing, it’s almost as if it weren’t there - Noise cancelling is there, but I’ve tried better ones - They’re a but too big for me, even to carry them around my neck If you don’t care about transparency mode and have no issues carrying and wearing them, these headphones are for you.

I started to give this 3.5 stars if I could. First let me say its not a bad product. However, I have used Sony earphones for years and I finally decided to try Beats and I am not as impressed as I expected. The sound is good, yes. But I have an older pair of Sony that blow these out the water on sound quality. The older Sony are not Bluetooth and can't take calls and I wanted one that could do it all while I am walking for exercise if my phone rings and I bother taking the call. The battery power is an A+ I may update the rating to 4 just for that.... ehhh maybe a 3.75. It has an app that is very basic but I do like how you can make it totally sound proof or two other settings. I am a mom I can't afford to not hear what's going on so I usually turn on the setting to hear but you can definitely tell the difference from the 3 settings. You know this extra piece I will go ahead and give it a 4 star because I really like that option. I haven't upgraded wireless head sets in years so if that's something that is the norm for all brands, I am unaware. As with many other reviews yes they hurt sometimes after having on a good hour and if you wear glasses you may need to move them up from your ears a little bit. My head is not that big the thing just really is tight and "unmoving" if that makes sense. I think they could be better if the ear piece was just bigger all around and if it rotated instead on the head band piece just going up and down. Overall the product is fine. Biggest disappointment is sound not as crisp and beautiful as expected but maybe its because my Sony's just sound so great - but the sound is still nice either way. Every now and then for some reason it won't auto connect when I unfold - not sure why it does it and its auto connects most of the time. The Beats App should show you all your Beats products you have in the app in summary not just the one you have on at the time.

I consider myself an audiophile, I've had alot of high end headphones over the years (in ear, on ear, & over ear) and for the price of $170 on sale Beats Solo Pro are incredible value. I will admit that these are hard to justify purchasing their original price of $300; they're not as comfy as the Bose 700 nor do they have their level of nouse cancellation, they don't have the wide selection of Hi- Res audio connections that the Sony wh-1000xm3 have nor its sound EQ and finally do not have the incredible sound profile of the Bang & Olufsen PX. HOWEVER, if you can get them on sale, then it would be hard to find better Bass heavy headphones with features such as ANC as well as a transparency mode along with instant connection to all apple devices. They dont feel as flimsy or as cheap as the older iterations and theyve also increased the ear cup size thankfully so while they are still considered "on ear" and not "over ear" the larger ear cups are both more comfortable and create a better seal. Technically speaking, Passive Noise Cancellation (along with over the ear design) is more effective than the Active Noise Cancellation that Beats Solo Pro has but personally I prefer ANC. If you're willing to sacrifice a very slight degredation in sound quality with ANC on, I think it is 100% worth it over having to deal with the downsides to PNC: Hearing your own footsteps/Breathing in your ears as well as the notorious pressurized air feeling. I do believe if you are able to get these headphones for under $200 they are great value for Apple users first and foremost (instant connection with any Apple devices), for those who enjoy Bass Heavy sound and having the option to use ANC & Transparency. *Do keep in mind they have no native sound EQ app or settings, they are "on ear" so most likely they will not cover or seal around your ears entirely, they are not sweatproof rated & like most Apple devices they use a lightning port to charge.*

These are a good pair of headphones but not exactly what I was looking for. I love my urBeats3 but I wanted something wireless. Now, I haven't had over-the-head Beats since they first became popular years ago and from what I remember - I wasn't that big of a fan. However, these beats are pretty good. The sound quality was good and the build is nice and sturdy but for me, it wasn't loud enough. I like to blast my music on full volume and I found myself going back to my urBeats3 which are $60 compared to the $180 I paid for these. I ended up taking them back and trying out the Studio3 which are miles better. The Studio3 isn't as updated as these (chip wise I believe) but they do the same thing and sound better. The studio's were louder and had more bass. The studio's also covered my entire ear whereas these ones don't. If you're someone who doesn't like all that bass, doesn't like blasting music in your ear, then I definitely recommend these! The color selection is awesome, the build is great, and the sound is good for the right person! I learned that headphones aren't for everyone and it might take some time to find the perfect pair for you. Nonetheless, it's a pretty good product and Beats are always well made.

I have had the Solo 3's for quite a while and I think the sound from those is pretty good so I was excited about these, plus noise cancellation, plus the M1 chip. Here's a few things I wanted to note: Fit: Like the Solo3's, these will squeeze your head a bit, but I'm okay with it. Folks with bigger heads will probably not like these at all. Sound cancellation: Pretty good, but certainly not to the Bose QC or Sony XM3 or XM4 levels. turning off the noise cancellation turns on the microphones and you can talk to others pretty well. Battery Life: as advertised - I get roughly 20 hours with noise cancellation on. Call quality: good enough, but I wouldn't have a long conversation using them. Sound: this is completely subjective, but I don't think these sound as good as the Pro 3's. I can't explain it exactly, other than it doesn't have the depth that I get from the Solo3's or other headphones. Don't get me wrong - they sound ok to good, just not as good as others. Summary: For the sale price I bought these for, I'm fairly satisfied with them in general. They're not everything for me, but pretty good overall.

Sound, comfort, noise cancelling is very good but compared to Studio model can't get same volume/loudness. For some this may be a good feature to protect ears, but..I like my music very loud at times. I like the phone app also seems to allow for immediate bluetooth pairing and can see battery good feature.

Overall, I really like these headphones. They're heavy on the bass, which I think is typical of Beats, but that's why I bought them. I'm learning to play the bass guitar and it's easy to hear riffs. I love the color and they feel premium. I love that they're fast charging. I also really like how easily they pair if you have an Apple device. They do feel a little uncomfortable after a couple of hours of wear. The noise cancelling works really well and it's nice to have an option to switch that off. I did have an issue with the headphones not turning on about a month after I bought them, but Apple support was able to help me troubleshoot and fix the problem quickly. The soft case provided is nice, but I wish it provided a little more protection. I also wear these working out and they don't fall off my head or slip off my ears. There are a couple of negatives, but I think the positives outweigh them.
