The Beats Solo Pro headphones look great, sound great, and feel premium. Unfortunately, they miss several marks that prevent them from being for everyone, including myself. And as much as I want to enjoy them, I just can’t. Initial impressions from the Solo Pros is great. The packaged product is pretty minimal with the headphones, charging cable, and a soft case included. I wanted a more durable case, but the one included does enough to keep them covered, even if it doesn't offer all-around protection. The design of the headphones is also minimalist. To power them on and connect them you unfold them. Fold them up and they power down. The right side sports 2 buttons behind the cover plate at the top and bottom, and another behind the B. You only know the buttons exist because you read the instructions. The left side has one button on the bottom of the ear piece which is visible if you look for it. The only markings on the outside are the Beats logo on the ear pieces and the branding on the headband. I got the red ones and the color is eye popping and catching. True to fashion, the Beats Solo Pro gain attention from people. While minimalist, the controls make sense once you start using them. The top and bottom buttons on the right side control volume, while the button behind the B allows you to pause, play, skip forward, skip backward, scan forward, and answer calls. The left button toggles the listening mode between noise cancelling, transparency, and off. Holding the left button for 5 seconds enters pairing mode. I got used to the controls quickly, and I like the feedback from pressing each button. There is a satisfying click and resistance that is just right. Many headphones miss the mark on this point. Another area these get right is the speaker performance. From noise canceling to audio playback, these perform really well. With the noise canceling toggled off they block out a decent amount of noise, and Beats instructs you to use the “off” settings to maximize battery performance when you don’t need the active cancellation. However, when you turn on active noise canceling, they block out even more. I like to use them at my desk while working, and with the feature turned off I can hear my mechanical keyboard click under each keypress. When I turn on active canceling the click is extremely muffled, and while I can still hear a bit of it, it’s close to silent. More importantly, much of the ambient noise around me, like fans and AC, doesn’t exist when set to active canceling. I also really like the transparency mode. It uses microphones on each earcup to amplify sound around you so you can hear it with these on. This is great for conversations in the middle audio playback and it’s a feature I love using on a set of earbuds I own. Whether noise canceling is enabled or not, I find the sound quality to be very good, with just enough bass without being bass heavy, and crisp, clean highs. They do lack some of the really deep bass I have heard on other Beats headsets, but I don’t mind that because the sound quality seems cleaner to my ears. There is no EQ setting to tailor the sound to your preferences, but I find their tuning to be very acceptable for my tastes and overall well balanced. If you like your music to have a deeper tone, however, you might find these lacking. With these praise points and such quality pros in favor of the Beats, it’s tough for me to say I don’t care to use them often. But I don’t. My biggest reason for this is the fit. They feel like good quality overall, and the first time I put them on I kind-of liked them. But as I wore them more and for longer periods, I found my ears getting sweaty and my head became uncomfortable. The truth of the matter is, I have a large head and these things feel like they may be more suited to smaller noggins. Now that I have tried them for longer periods of time, I find that I can’t even wear them comfortably for more than 30 minutes or so before I start to notice the squeeze feeling from ear to ear. As a result, I find myself turning to other headphones or earbuds that I own anytime I put these on. I did test battery life with them and found them to actually produce slightly better time than the 22 hours advertised, but that test was definitely not on my head. One other thing that annoys me is the targeting of the product specifically to the Apple community. I like the design aesthetics of Beats, but I am not an Apple user. I use Android and Windows devices, and all my charging cables are Micro-USB/C. However, the documentation makes it clear these are targeting Apple users with heavy emphasis on features for Apple devices being more prominent. For instance, they have Siri-specific hands-free control, and charging is done via the included lightning cable, not Micro-USB. These things annoy me as they tend to alienate my market segment. I also like being able to use one or two cables, max, to charge all my devices, and this lightning cable just adds clutter to the mix for one specific device. I hate that proprietary approach. Overall, if you have an average head or high tolerance for the squeeze feeling with headphones, and you are invested in the Apple ecosystem, these might be a great fit for you. They certainly sound great enough to warrant a try. However, if you have a bigger head like I do, or want a more universal feeling from your headphones, look elsewhere. It’s a shame because I do want to like these, but I just can’t get comfortable.

They work good, sound good. So far the only issue is they are not kid user friendly. I bought two pair for my twin 8 year old boys.

I'll keep it brief and break this up into sections to help you get a feel for what these are like to own. I bought these for $170 for my Google Pixel 4a. The build: these are solidly constructed. If your head is massive then they won't fit you well, but they fit me fine, and my head is fairly large. The folding mechanism is elegant but requires both sides to be retracted to fold properly. Regardless, I can see these lasting years. That said, the buttons on the side are inexcusably cheap feeling and rattle your ear with every press. The audio: casual listeners rejoice, these are punchy and reasonably clear, yet somewhat lacking in mids. The old beats sound is a thing of the past, and that's a good thing. Bluetooth is the only way you can use them, which does mean reduced audio quality compared to a jack, but this is nit-picking that most people won't notice. The noise-canceling: it's very, very good, especially for on-ears. There's only one mode: on. However, it works because Apple's clever hardware automatically detects changes in your environment and tunes the ANC to work accordingly, and it's brilliant. Hear the world around you melt away. Comfort: the fault I cannot excuse. The pads are plush and lovely, but to make the noise-canceling work well these headphones clamp your cranium a bit too hard. Your ears will plead for relief after a few hours of listening in a day. Everything else: the app is simple and to the point, and these are impressively compatible with android. Only being able to turn them off by folding them is annoying but easy to get used to. They fast-charge at a mind-blowing rate, so don't worry about the battery. The microphone is really, really bad. Don't bother using these for phone calls or Discord. So, are they worth it? If you get them for their black Friday sale price of $170, yes. Otherwise, save your money and buy something else. The Anker Q30, Sony WH-XB900N, and JBL Live 650BTNC are all worthy alternatives that will save you money and offer an equivalent or better experience.

I’ve been using airpods pro since the day they were released and love them for daily use in practically all settings. Recently though I’ve noticed the battery doesn’t last as long so I decided to try something different until a new Airpod model comes out. After using the solo pros daily for the past week however I’ve decided to return them for a few reasons. First off, I love the transparency mode on airpods pro but it just doesn’t work nearly as good on the Beats. On the AirPods Pro you can immediately tell the difference between being in transparency mode or noise cancellation. On the solo pros I found myself constantly switching between the two modes unsure of what mode I was actually on. It just seems to be less effective at reproducing outside noise overall so you’re left feeling like you’re still in noise cancellation. Second, I was really underwhelmed by how weak the volume levels are on the Beats. I went back and forth on full volume between my AirPods Pro and Beats, and the airpods were definitely louder despite the much smaller speaker. The other reason I bought the solo pros was because I wanted an over-the-ear style headphone that wouldn’t fall out of my ear like the AirPods do from time to time. And while the solo pros are definitely less likely to fall off your head, they’re also so tight that they hurt my ears after 30 mins of use. Finally, I got really used to the audio pausing when I take out my airpods so it’s really unfortunate that the solo pro’s don’t have this feature. There were a lot of times where I would take the Beats off and set them down only to come back and find out the podcast I was listening to never stopped playing. At the end of the day, I guess I was spoiled with the awesome features of the AirPods Pro and it ruined the experience for me with the solo pros. Features aside though, if the solo pros weren’t uncomfortable to wear and they had better sound quality (with a higher max volume) I might have considered keeping them. But for now I’ll wait until the next airpods iteration is released.

I wanted to try these headphones, I loved the unfold to power on and fold to power off...the sound was ok, the noise canceling was actually better than I expected but just like the solo 3’s they are too uncomfortable for me to use...maybe for someone that doesn’t wear glasses they would be okay, but they pinched my ears and although it was better than the solo3’s they were still too tight a fit to be comfortable ...but honestly my Sony WH-1000XM3’s sound so much better and are much more comfortable. Oh well. Maybe when they come out with a Studio Pro version....

The color is cute. The sound is good however in my opinion they are not sound cancelling, they are sound reducing. I can still hear a lot of peripheral noises when using them. They also fit a little too tight and I have to take them off every 30 min or so to give my ears a break from being squeezed.

I find that these headphones are very uncomfortable to wear for more than about 45 minutes at a time. I have owned other beets before and liked that much more but they were an older model and I couldn’t find them so I got these, but like I said, they’re not comfortable to wear for a long time Sound is good though

I liked the finish and overall design of these headphones, they sounded good too. But they did not fit my head comfortably, I do have a larger head but I think Apple could have taken this into account. I ended up returning them, I prefer my Studio3 better.

These aren’t bad headphones, don’t get me wrong. The sound is pretty good, the noise canceling is average. They are alittle small but that’s a personal preference. The issue I have is the disregard from my bestbuy for selling me a product that I didn’t want. I had asked for a product that I could connect via Bluetooth and aux cord. I was told this had an aux port and it doesn’t. It also doesn’t work with an Apple dongle, and now tomorrow before catching a flight I have to try to return them.

The sound is pretty decent. The Noice Cancelling a nice addition from the Solo 3 that doesn't have it. I would say I wish I could default which mode I wanted it to operate in, sometimes I don't want the noise cancellation so that the battery life lasts longer, but it's always default on and you have to actively go and turn it off if you want to conserve battery. I would say the fit is a bit tighter than my Solo 3 model which can cause some aching on your ears, especially if you wear glasses.

Right out of the box the beats solo are very easy to set up and use. Set up takes maybe max 5 minutes or so. As soon as I put them on they felt really tight on the head. I guess that’s good so they don’t fall off but I couldn’t last more than 20 minutes without them hurting. Noice cancelling is horrendous. To be honest the is a very slight difference without the noice cancelling on and with it on. Not worth the price tag in my opinion. They do look nice and are very well made. But that’s about it!

The audio qality is fantastic and noise cancelation works prettywell for the price. I like how easy it is to switch between devices connected to the solo pro. Only disadvantage is the comfort in use. The clamping over the head is pretty tight. Within half to 1 hour of use, ears start to hurt and you have to constantly keep adjusting the position. I wish they had bigger heads. Overall I am happy, and hopefully the comfort factor might get better over time.

I like the sound quality. i am not a fan of the fact that i cannot tell when it is low on battery power. you can see the red light but by that time it is dead. it is also tight fit. i wish it was designed differently. my final reason why this gets 3 stars is the fact that you turn it off and on by opening it. I think there should be a switch so that u can have the option to do it manually or automatic.

Hello, here are my pros and cons: Pros: 1) It's exactly how it looks in the photos. It's a beautiful sky blue, and the headband isn't thin. 2) It's already somewhat noise cancelling without listening to anything. 3) Then play the music and you really can't hear ANYTHING. Cons: This to me outweighs all of the good. 1) The part that covers your ears is comfortable at first and then in 8-10 minutes it becomes tight and extremely uncomfortable. Doesn't matter how loud the music is, still can't distract me from how much my ears hurt and the urge I have to just take the headphones off for some relief. How is one supposed to have these on for even a half hour? My ears are HURTING within 10 minutes. I don't recommend these headphones or beats headphones in general. If you still purchase them, do your research and READ the reviews. I can only speak for this one, and it is NOT worth the price, and I am disappointed to say the least.

We returned them after a couple of days. My daughter could not wear them. They were too tight (even after multiples adjustments) on the ears. After a few minutes she would have to take them off. The sound quality was amazing and the look is sleek and fun. Just very uncomfortable with the pressure on the ears.
