Needed this specific cable to do an efficient transfer of data from one MacBook to another. Although this cable is short, the construction is thick, high quality, and it performs at the data transfer speeds advertised. I was able to transfer all 800GB of my user data from one MacBook to a new one in less than an hour directly linking them together with this cable. It also works well for connecting my MacBook with a single cable to a hub that controls multiple monitors and data connections. Attached is a picture of the transfer speed using the thunderbolt cable compared to wireless "Peer-to-Peer" using Migration Assistant. Note that this is specifically a high-speed data transfer cable, not a regular USB-C charger cable!

Functionally works as expected. HOWEVER the cable is very short. Yes, I know I purchased a short cable but it’s something to keep in mind. I wouldn’t use this to connect a laptop to a monitor unless you plan on having your laptop on the right side of the monitor (or your laptop has right-hand thunderbolt ports)

Not long enough but an okay deal since it was on sale, and needed a replacement.

This cable works fine and was reasonably priced, but it will not power a thinkpad using a Lenovo docking station.

I use this cable to connect a Scarlett 2i2 audio interface to a MacBook Pro for recording music on Logic Pro. It has the fast data transfer you need for real time recording. It’s reliable and worth the price if you require fast data transfer.

I am happy with the quality of the product and it works great. I just wish this cable was a little longer.

Works great for Focusrite external sound card. Just wish it was 3’ because it’s barely long enough.

The cables does what it is supposed to do. I do have some confusion of whether if it had been an active cable would it have made my LG Ultrafine 5k monitor no stay turned off even after waking the computer up. I don't think this is the problem of the cables though. Make sure it is long enough for your use, as it is shorter since it is a passive cables, but it does the job and gives 5K output.

Solid. Reliable so far. Casing wasn’t as visually pleasing.

Worked like a charm with my MacBook Pro and my new 2019 5k iMac. Moving large video files back and forth worked so much faster than the old USB Drive I replaced. Little pricey, but the cable's build quality is nice. Haven't tried to see if it would work to charge my MBP since the stock Apple USB-C cord that came with it is longer.

This is an excellent USB-C/TB3 cable! I do a lot of youth group videos Using this to transfer large movies from my phone to computer was lightning fast... or maybe I should say Thunderbolt fast! The build quality is excellent, you can see and feel that physically this cable is no slouch. I also had no problem using this cable to connect to a Dell USB-C/TB3 docking station for my laptop through which I pumped HD video to a docked-monitor for video editing. In short, it worked very well for everything I needed it for. Rapid Charging? Check. Docking station connectivity? Check. Highspeed Data transfer? Check. For the price I wish the cable was a little longer, but that doesn't detract from the cable doing what it was designed to do very well. It's my new do-all USB-C/TB3 cable.

With everyone going from USB-A, USB-C, Thunderbolt, etc, it’s kind of hard to determine which cable works best for my needs and how much I really need to spend on a cable to charge my laptop and to transfer data. My review is hardly scientific, nor did I use some magical software for benchmarks or the like, so keep that in my mind when reading. Just for reference, my primary computer is a 2017 15” MacBook Pro with TouchBar. It has a 2TB SSD, 2.9ghz Intel i7 and 16gb of ram. It is not the top of the line laptop, but the specs are decent. I tested this cable using a Samsung T5 1TB portable SSD hard drive. I transferred a 185gb folder from the hard drive to my desktop and it took 5 minutes and 34 seconds. I believe the combination of SSD to SSD using the Belkin cable accounted for the high transfer speed. Just to compare, I connected my Lacie Rugged 1TB portable hard drive using the old USB-C cable and it took 32 minutes to transfer the same folder. This cable can also connect to 4k and 5k displays, which isn’t something that is important to me at this time, but perhaps in the future. The cable is short if you plan on using it for charging while sitting at a desk, but after researching these, the shorter cable allows for faster transfer speeds up to 40gbps, while the longer cables have speeds from 10gbps to 20 gbps. The question remains if this cable is necessary for most people. It really depends on your budget, what you are connecting to and if fast data transfer speeds matter to you. All in all, I like this cable and will continue to use it for my Time Machine backups and transferring large files between devices. I think this fall when Apple updates it’s iPad operating system, I may see more benefit in this cable.

I did not think that a cable would make a difference when transferring files from my phone to my computer! Granted, it was not a huge difference when transferring small amounts of files but when wanting to backup your whole phone, you will notice the time saved. Keep in mind, this cable is USB C on one end and on the other. Also, the quality of the cable is great! The cable is thick and sturdy. Because of this, it is capable of carrying a larger amount of power to charge larger devices as well.

The Belkin Thunderbolt USB C cable is not to be confused with an ordinary USB C cable. These cables have a faster transfer rate and with that comes the higher price. Now to be fair, I did read some old reviews that said these cables are prone to burn out in 6 or more months. So I will update you on this post when I do. Tested this on a HDD backup drive for almost 3 weeks and couldn’t be happier. The backup time is noticeably faster and I am excited about getting longer cords to hook up my monitors. I have a Desktop so I need a couple of 6 foot cables to test. Very happy with the results of this cable and well worth the buy!!! Only 4 stars till I am able to test longevity of the cable for you…
