Q: Can you use this on a switched outlet?
A: No. There is only one set of poles/terminals to connect to. You could connect both sets of wires, but you lose the switch functionality (and I'm not sure if that meets electrical code doing so).
A: It is because of the tamper resistance. There are protective latches inside you are trying to click open. Get used to it. NEC codes make it a must-have.
