The M 88 has been manufactured by hand at the beyerdynamic company location in Heilbronn for decades. Due to its outstanding technical properties, it is considered a classic microphone. From a technical perspective, the M 88's hypercardioid is close to perfection. This means that sound arriving from the front is picked up preferentially. At the same time, signals arriving from the side and sometimes from behind are reduced.
The M 88, like all microphones in the M series, is manufactured in Germany at the beyerdynamic company location in Heilbronn - by hand. Sound-relevant components such as the membrane, the dynamic transducer and the microphone basket are not purchased, but are manufactured in-house.
